German prisons are not as comfortable as claimed in this video. Yes, prisoners are not treated like animals as in many US prisons, but privileges are not granted every inmate. Those who committed non-violent crimes and/or will soon be released are being prepared to re-integrate into society, but prisons are no hotels. You have inmate on inmate crime, very restricted time outside your cell, and overall: it’s still prison and the inmates are still locked away & not allowed to roam around freely. There are options to spend the day outside, but again, that’s for those who have almost finished their sentence and found work outside prison. And: if the killer is convicted of murder & deemed a continuous threat to society, he could be imprisoned for actual life, it’s called „Sicherungsverwahrung“

@@ublu3631 this is very helpful context! Thank you. That’s partly why I was careful to say “seemingly”, knowing that I haven’t done the due diligence to form a personal opinion on the facts of how prisoners are treated, and knowing that there is variability in treatment based on the individual, the crime, the judge and the fact that I have an unbalanced view due to the knowledge of how criminals in the US are treated. Is a very, VERY low baseline to start from. Reform is needed here so it’s hard to say what “good” or “adequate” actually looks like. But I think Stephanie’s sentiment is still valid, he is getting off too easy.

  • @CarinaCoffee

Hi, I'm German and I just wanted to point out, that while our cells are more like dingy hostel rooms, a murderer is most likely not allowed as many freedoms as mentioned, especially the ones that have an added sentence of "special level of grievance". I think he will fall under this. If he's given this sentence he's also not getting out after 15 years. The earliest could be 20 years, but is more likely longer or could even be lifelong if he's considered a risk to society, e.g. if the specialists think he'd commit a crime again. In such a case they'll reevaluate his incarceration after a set amount of years again and again. If he doesn't confess, shows no remorse and specialists think he could do it again he won't be released.
We do all this because the German criminal law beliefs in rehabilitation. Therefore even a murderer could find rehabilitation under special circumstances.
We did have the death penalty once, but it's outlawed on a federal level.
I understand how, especially as a family someone would want a life for a life though.
But overall I'm glad our system works towards rehabilitation, even if the system isn't perfect.

Apparently prior to his visit to Germany he had been online flirting/dating a 18 year old Japanese woman from Egypt. Then the woman moved to Germany and he decided to meet her. There was a falling out and she stopped talking to him, though it's unclear whether it happened before or after his decision to come to Germany. Anyway she refused to meet with him. just wanted to add: Ludwig II is actually gone insane (but still my fav king). His mental illness sure played its part but as a person who researched and studied Ludwig II and Bavaria, I must say that his gentle, anti-war soul made him the “mad king”. He is maybe the only king in the whole history, to believe that the art could save the world from the bloody chaos. He never wanted to be a king at the first place, he just had to be and -he was never a soldier. He was pressured to be “the king”. He was constantly humiliated, made fun of. Just think of someone who’s trying to teach any form of art to the children so that when they grow up, they won’t turn into pro-war politicians, soldiers, citizens (of course that plan wouldn’t work in a world like this) He was a true dreamer and got lost tragically in his dreamland in the end. That’s why his obsession is seen in his castle’s architecture, inside and outside. There are even multiple stages to perform Wagner’s operas (esp. Tristan and Isolde) which again he was madly obsessed with.
In short, all of his life he wanted art to give life a meaning, a light, a hope. In his head, the beauty of art was the cure of all illdoing. And of course, the cruel reality wouldn’t agree with that. He simply lost his mind day by day.
Why did I tell you all about this?
Because we are all like Ludwig, in front of the monsters like this one in the video. We all find it hard to believe how cruel all this can get. We sometimes get scared. But we move on. (most of us mentally unstable but yeah move on)
Thank you Stephanie. You’re my jam.

I've seen how dangerous and entitled fetishistic males are towards women they feel entitled to (I'm Latina and have had some scares from mostly American males when I worked in an airport in my country. I apparently fit their hot Latina with an accent stereotype and somehow I'm obligated to be attracted to them 🙄).
My bestie that is Japanese was yelled at by a male tourist in her own country since she wouldn't turn around to look at him and he raged calling her racist cos she wouldn't give him her number after yelling at her. (Like why WOULD she give an unhinged aggressive male her number? These men ain't right in the head)
These creeps stereotype us and make themselves delusional about how we truly are. Dehumanization is so common with them because we're not seen as people that can reject them. We're "obligated" to give them pleasure and fulfill their self-centered fantasies.
Heck they do this to women in their own countries too. Look at the "Nice Guys" that harass, insult and shame women for not wanting to be with them due to their "niceness". They simply can't comprehend that women have their own wants and are people that make choices.
This vile man that did this to these poor girls didn't see them as humans and having rights as humans. He's one of the many entitled male creatures that think women are just disposable objects of pleasure.
I really hope he rots for this. He should do jail time in both Germany and the US but I know it won't happen and he'll probably be allowed free while still alive (although older) without feeling an ounce of remorse for what he did because he's a monster.

There is no official legal classification of hate crimes in Germany apparently; though even if they're investigated as ordinary crimes, there are still some leeways.
"States now have specialized prosecutors trained in politically-motivated cases, but due to caseload and the duty roster, duty prosecutors may have to take on prosecutions of a hate motivated crimes on the day of the hearing even if they do not have specialized training or experience.
The failure by police to record or investigate a case as a “politically motivated” hate crime means that the prosecutor is then unlikely to pursue evidence that the crime was indeed motivated by hate in the prosecution of the offenses. This is despite the fact that prosecutors have independent authority to order the police to pursue that line of inquiry in their investigation if that they are not doing so. Where evidence of hate motivation does not surface during a prosecution, it is also highly unlikely that the prosecutor would call for that factor to be taken into account during sentencing in the event of a conviction.
Justice ministries in some of the key states and the Federal authorities argue that hate motivation is taken into account as a factor in sentencing when appropriate. While this might be the case, victims of hate crimes, victim support groups and criminal lawyers suggest that it is often left to the lawyers acting for the crime victim to call for this factor to be taken into account if evidence of hate motivation emerges at trial"

I haven't heard of this behavior coming from European men. Maybe it originated from the "mail-order-bride" era in the early 20th century, but it seems to have only gotten worse over time.

I'm Asian and I've been to this castle and at the time I was travelling with one other female friend. I was 21 at the time and she was 19. This story is so scary because you don't think another tourist would try to assault you and kill you in broad daylight at a public tourist attraction. It's insane. This man should be punished for what he did.
Not all people who are attracted to Asians specifically are like this guy, but yeah, there are some weirdos out there who think that Asian women can't resist white men and I've had the misfortune of encountering people like that online. The first time, I was a teenager and there was a dude who kept telling me (an Asian woman) that Asian women loved white men and Asian women go crazy for them even when I was telling him that's not the case, like wtf. I don't think I've met anyone like that in real life and I hope I never will.

As a black woman this hits different, idk what it is with people who have fetishes for certain racial groups, sure it isn't always a creepy thing but a lot of the time it is , it gives me the creeps. I have encountered so many men ( of varying races besides my own obvs) with a fetish for black women (rudely referred to as jungle fever) and often they lead with such invasive and sexual questions , taking liberties with their over friendliness and then they expect almost a pat on the back or some sort of praise when they say they "like black girls" . Idk if this is the same that Asian women experience but I can only assume it follows a similar pattern and its so degrading and objectifying, it is not a compliment for someone to find your race a sexual turn on and only seek to converse with you because of their fetish , it also makes me uncomfortable to be alone with such people or voice my distaste because what if they become aggressive if I say that its weird or wrong to think like that . :/ Then I hear of situations like this and it scares me even more , like how can just being a woman be one of the most dangerous situations to exist in in this day and age

As an Asian American female this has pretty much been my experience with being fetishized for being Asian (my family came from Korea). It gets referred to as "yellow fever" more often than not and it is extremely disheartening to see others having to go through this. If anyone ever tells me they have a fetish for certain racial groups, I immediately feel creeped out and do not want to talk to them anymore because 9/10 times it just leads to conversations I really don't want to get into. In my experiences with people who do this, it almost feels like this weird elitist kind of pov someone has where they announce they have a fetish for asian women as if they are better than everyone else for it and want to be praised for it which is another weird aspect of it. Then the racial stereotypes kick in and it just is such a mess all around. I hope you stay safe in this world of ours. I know it is scary, but I know there is beauty in it too that I hope brings you comfort and safety.

People are attracted to what they are attracted to. We can't control what we find attractive in another person. Some people are physically attracted to certain characteristics that someone of a certain ethnicity might have. The difference between men and women however is that men tend to dehumanize women they find attractive far more than vice versa, so it doesn't matter whether they have a 'fetish' or not. It just shows more when they have a racial preference.
If a misogynist man doesn't have a race fetish, then it will be blonde women, or curvy women, or overweight women, or petite women, or women in general. The race fetish isn't the problem, it's the general dehumanization for women that is. You see lots of women with a racial preference that isn't their own who treat men like human beings and they are usually the ones who get abused if abuse happens.

From a perspective of East Asian descent, I'm so sad that this happened to these girls specially when this guy tricked them by pretending to be helpful and kind. I've learned to spot the fetishists since I was 11 years old because foreigners, including non-East-Asian Asians, come to my country and ask stuff like "are you Korean or Japanese" because they're cherry picking 😭 since I live in a country with many types of Asians and they see Korean and Japanese to possess beauty higher than other Asians. I've seen my friends even being ignored after they reveal that they're not Korean or Japanese, but rather Chinese, Vietnamese or Filipino. Sadly, even women are guilty of fetishizing East Asians, specially if they think you're Korean. They're not aware that it's not a compliment to be objectified, even if it isn't sexual. Some guys or girls even whisper to each other when they see me in public transportation saying: "Hi Korean girl, you're so pretty. I want to come to your house." They do it loudly and they know I can hear them, which tells me that they think East Asians can't speak English. 🤦‍♀️ I've even told some people that do that that they're creeps as I get out of the train or bus and they just laugh embarrassed or feel ashamed because they didn't realize I could understand them since I'm just an object of their conversation or fetish, instead of a human. I've experienced this unwanted attention from adults since I was a child so I understand that to be safe, it's okay to be standoffish and decline stranger's kindness because it can mean life or death. I've literally had 2 different experiences in a taxi where the driver was talking to someone on the phone about assaulting me because I look Korean or Japanese and they think I don't understand the local Asian dialect. Thankfully I'm safe since I always have someone getting the taxi plate number and seeing me off before getting in a taxi and my destination is known to have high security between my pick up and drop off. I don't care if people think I'm going home too early or unfriendly if I'm not going out with strangers to a bar because my coworkers just brush off my experience saying that people are just being "friendly" 🤮

as an ethnic minority, the way men fetishize me simply bc of my heritage makes me sick. i often get weird comments about my "fiery" attitude and "innate sex appeal" (what does that even mean???) simply bc i'm latina. oddly enough, i've also been fetishized by men who mistake me for being asian and immediately assume the gross sexual stereotypes they've projected onto asian women. it's like it's not enough for them to simply be misogynistic, they have to remind you that they're also xenophobic and racist. i say all of that to say the audacity of men never fails to disgust me and this case further exemplifies that.

Walking your cat on a leash is normal and responsible kitty ownership in situations that it keeps kitty safe while exercising or exploring in high predator, loose dog, or high traffic areas. Many places that have leash laws require ALL types of pets to follow the laws, turtles, cats, pigs, whatever, not just doggos. It doesn't lessen this man's evil one bit. Many monsters are perfectly well behaved pet owners. Doesnt mean they arent horrific monsters with a healthy pet.

Most of my cats are scared of outside and just roll around if I put a leash and harness on, but one of them went to pet trick training at petco and graduated. I am a German and my husband and our two kids went to Schloss Neuschwanstein right when this happened. It’s unbelievably crowded, especially on the bridge and on the path from the castle to that bridge. I don’t even know how that thing never broke down with the amount of people standing on it every day.
Nevertheless, because it’s so crowded and everything is between cliffs and the forest, it’s so easy to get lost or to be lured into strange paths away from the crowd.. after we drew back to our home back to the Alps a day after, we had a stop at the gas station and that’s where we saw the news. It basically happened when we were there and how many people like us standing and walking around there would not notice!!

I had a lot of cats growing up (well-cared for in an exceptionally clean house. Not animal hoarder style.) I lived in an area with a lot of strays and one of them came to my front door. Max. Some of them I found homes for and others I couldn't or had grown too attached to already. I loved all animals and still do. Some of my cats liked to be outside and others didn't. I never tried to force any of them. One of my cats just wanted to hang out in the front yard and roll in the grass. He was still on a harness and leash for safety. One really liked running with me when she was young and wasn't interested as she got older, and another wanted to watch birds and pretend-hunt (no birds were scared or harmed in the process). The rest wanted to be inside. I have seen other people with their cats who do hikes and things a dog might do. Every animal is different and has its own personality, fears, likes and dislikes. If the person is being responsible, and the animal is enjoying itself, not making them bc you want them to, then I don't see it as a red flag whatsoever. People who let their pets roam free, that's my red flag. People with dogs who are overly strict and cold to their dog in a militaristic sense, the kind where the dog gets scared around, or is tentative around, huge red flags.

Omg, I am listening you this while being from Michigan and close to Lincoln Park. Now I understand why my mom is always worries about me and my sibling being alone at home. We got cameras but now planning to move from this area. There are stories happening around my area that are very scaring. May God bless and keep save every one.

most prisons in europe are to rehabilitate inmates to prevent them from recommitting a crime, not to punish

As a european, Neuschwanstein Castle (in Germany) is one of the most visited places in the continent. That's something all europeans know about. When this happened, every news paper was talking about this (at least where I come from). One of the girls apparently survived the fall, but she's going to live with the trauma for the rest of her life. It's sad that there are delulu's out there, hopefully this rases alarms on people. I recommend not to talk to no one, only people you know. One never knows what will happen.

As a asian person, I avoid men who watch anime ... because like 75 % then have asian fetishes . My fiance when I met him wasn't into anime heavily, but every guy before him who watched anime .... they didn't give a fuck that I was south east asian ... they thought we were all the same .. and would ask me if I spoke Japanese... also ... they were racist ... but ..like asian women. . And they didn't know because I'm Southeast asian ... that I don't keep my mouth shut, and if you put your hands on me, I will do the same . I had a guy who I was dating ... I have known him since elementary school. He was in the military, and we rekindled, and I was happy to see him .. we start a relationship... .. and he tried to SA me .... because I was asian
