  • Here’s a great step by step snare drum tuning video chock full of drum tuning lessons for 10 lug drums. Learn step by step how I tuned up this awesome 5” x 14” Rogers Dyna-Sonic snare from “where it stood”. IE Fresh after multiple gigs, and a ride home in a truck. This snare belongs to Jason Corbiere, drummer for Blues Guitar Legend Jimmie Vaughn.

    In this video, my goal was to match the tuning on his vintage 1965 Dyna-Sonic to the tuning of my new re-issued Dyna-Sonic to see how they matched up. BTW they sounded like the same drum LOL! You can hear the results in my ROGERS DRUMS NEW VS VINTAGE COMPARISON feat. JASON CORBIERE on my YT channel at • ROGERS DRUMS NEW VS VI...
    In this video, however, you will see highlights of the full PPV lesson video that is available to stream at www.kennysharretts.com including how to balance a head when you encounter the very common “Star” pattern of lugs being out of tune. As well as how to apply the two key tuning method I use to dial these snare heads to the exact pitches I want. Finally you get a lesson in how to create a perfect 5th tuning interval on a snare drum. Crisp, powerful, with a full body, and tons of crack at almost any tension.
    These highlights give you lots of tips so this vid is a great watch if you want to learn more about tuning your snare drum from where it stands. If you want the FULL STEP BY STEP LESSON, or just want to support my channel please stream the full lesson at www.kennysharretts.com . Solid!

    I just came to the latest video to post this question.
    I just noticed yesterday that you have a shit ton more videos now.
    Is it because I paid for the lesson pack 1?
    I sent an email, (kind of a long one, sry) I would like to talk about setting up an in-person lesson in the future. You're a very good teacher in how you explain things, that is hard to find. The money is totally worth it.

    I busted my 14" snare by cracking it up to high I only use the Every other one Method because that works for me

      Yeah never too tight. Whether stretching, or tuning.

    Is there a way to tune a snare so that all the ring is completely gone? Because I could just use the moon gel or a ring but the crack of a rim shot and some of the brightness of the snares is lost.

    • @KennySharretts
      @KennySharretts  Před 2 lety +1

      I suppose you can find a way beyond medium tight to kill the ring, but often those methods kill the tone as well.

    Do you have Ambassador heads top and bottom? Thanks 👍could you tell me your cymbals too? Man....they sound perfect together. Guessing k dark 17 & 18?

    • @KennySharretts
      @KennySharretts  Před rokem +1

      You are absolutely correct. The snares have a Coated Ambassador on top, and an Ambassador snare side (or diplomat snare) on the bottom. The Cymbals are my 17” K Custom Dark Crash and either my 18” K Custom Dark Crash of my 19” K Dark Crash. Thank you. I’m blessed to have them. Thank you for watching.

    What type of shuffle is that? Sounded like the spacing of the notes were closer together than a more commen shuffle.
