Such beautiful music. I must have been in heaven. Born in the 70's gives me great appreciation for their music back then. The kids today do not know what great music was born in the 70's and they never will understand it. Long live Genesis Music...
Thank God for Steve Hackett! And Peter Gabriel. Tony Banks was/is the genius composer. But without Steve Hackett/Peter Gabriel, we’d have never experienced the brilliance that was 1970s Genesis.
Genesis could never replace this guy. They never even tried!!!! Sure left a void when he left. He's squeezing sound out of his guitar like you get juice from an orange. Sweet!
This is one of my favourite passages from "The Lamb Lies Down" -- it's timeless. Hackett's playing is just sublime. My favourite moments of Genesis are always when Hackett and Banks combined to this sort of effect. Utterly brilliant.
Steve Hackett always gave the notes their proper amount of time he never rushed them The notes were just linger until their time was finished and ready to go onto the next note That’s what made him one of the best guitarist if not the best guitarist in my opinion because I am a genesis fanatic, I can say that and all those who love Genesis would probably agree
Agree with U.. I'm a guitarist myself.. Started in the year of 1971.. Why U ask..? Miste rStephen Hackett started in the progressiv rockbanb of all time, GENESiS - But Steve left Genesis in the year of 1977.. Peter Gabriel left Genesis in the year of 1975.. Genesis = 1971-1977, but they started in the year of 1967 to 2022...
This legend has proven out to be the most significant member of the Classic Genesis ensamble. Steve has delivered more phenomenal solo albums than most artists in modern music period. Thank you for this priceless piece of art!!
My two favorite pieces / sections of Genesis Music.....I played Hairless Heart in the cemetery when my Father's ashes were buried in Hainseville Cemetery in 2011. And the Lead piece in Firth of Fifth compares to Nothing! Turn it up and put your head back!
@@Imforeverenglish And then ... in 2022. Still fabulous. Listen to intensely to film it ... but here is Every Day 7 October 2022: czcams.com/video/jC60mCGmnDc/video.html

When i went to see Genesis at the barbican, it was 2015, i went with my dad and my sister. Also when i went to see these gentlemen perform , i was the only kid there, everybody else was in their 30s, 50s and maybe even 60s. It was AMAZING.
having listened to so many versions of this over the years I have to say this line up gives the best rendition (although I personally think the Budapest 2004 version is the definitive one) ...Terry Gregory's bassline is as funky as they come and really makes the piece .....a perfect foil to Steves melancholic guitar and the euphoric keyboards ...just perfect
Well the last comment on here was 4 years ago..we are in the middle of a pandemic and listening to this is a great escape..steve Hackett is a musical genius..2021..
Funerals. Plural. You must be a very important person😂. But I agree with the sentiment. One could do worse than to be sent off to the music of genius guitarist Steve Hackett.
Only Steve Hachett can play Genesis era's music. These two songs are beautiful, wonderful, awesome! Me and My mother like "Firth of Fifth" guitar solo.
This man is amazing , the way he plays and the kind of person he is. I've seen genesis live at the barbican in York England and the concert was breath taking, the band is amazing and so is Steve.
i'm off to see Steve & the band in York barbican in October 2024, looking forward to some Genesis classics plus ones from The Lamb (50th anni ! ), especially the solos of the Lamb. Seen him plenty of times before, but not recently. Fav guitarist, along with David Gilmour & Andy Latimer & Paul Kossoff.
Note perfect version of Fifth0 as per the Selling England version. No wandering off into improvised sections. Nothing flashy. Just pure genius and feel. Calm as you like concentration. Wonderful technique with lots of hammer ons, beautiful string bends, slides and gorgeous sustain. This is how to play guitar. Outstanding.
Marc Worthington Steurmer is in a no-win situation. If he plays it like Steve, he would be told he's a copycat with no talent; when he plays it his way he's told that he's overdoing it and it's not as great as Hackett's. But I'm impressed with Steurmer's solo, but it's not the iconic, original one.
I don't know. I'm more into the unpopular opinion that Stuermer did that particular solo better than Hackett. In fact, I think everyone played it better later on (specially Phil) than back in the day. For me, the versions of the solo done during the We Can't Dance tour are a lot better than the original, I feel the original sounds too delicate and never builds up completely, like it never truly climaxes. They later on explored the full potential and intensity that segment had and gave it justice.
Yo pensé lo mismo, pero el disco en vivo donde quedó registrado el recital se llama "Somewhere In South America ... Live In Teatro Coliseo, Buenos Aires".
Amazing guitar weeping sweetly! Almost like a birth of a hairless heart- I think this is a song that touched my soul its made me just cry in the amazing sound- but Hackett does amazing on this version! Its so breath taking- i hate it!! Stop that it.. besutiful- Steve Hackett- I don't like to listening 2x as Savoring the moment. I love it ..but it always makes me cry.. its so beautiful.
Timeless music. Hackett really knows how to make his guitar "cry". But Daryl Stuermer did a good job as well on the 1992 "We can't dance" tour while playing the old medley in Knebworth.

The firth of fifth guitar solo is the most delicate ever composed
You guys said it all !!!
It's not the speed, nor the high notes what makes great progressive rock music... it's the feeling...
Whether he's playing electric or acoustic, Steve's playing always takes you on a journey. Incredible.
Genesis could never replace this guy. They never even tried!!!! Sure left a void when he left. He's squeezing sound out of his guitar like you get juice from an orange. Sweet!
But Daryl Stuermer replaced him very well.
100 % agree
Carsten Bohnsack not even close
not at all--he's a jazzer at heart--Hackett is an original --angst ridden emotional player
Hackett est un génie mais les gens sont trop stupides pour avoir consciences
This is one of my favourite passages from "The Lamb Lies Down" -- it's timeless. Hackett's playing is just sublime. My favourite moments of Genesis are always when Hackett and Banks combined to this sort of effect. Utterly brilliant.
MY gOD WHRN I LISTEN IT
Lamnia isn’t bad either.
' אני מצטער אין.....
This was the one loss Genesis could not live with! He's a melodic genieous!
No one beats Steve Hackett 😁👏👏

So true, like every note he played with care and feeling and nothing wasted or excessive.

As a guitarist myself I so agree with your comment. Just a single note played well can be the most powerful thing.
How does he get all that satain
Agreed!
Un nodo nella gola !!!
Steve Hackett 👑

Deep, melancholic, of a dramatic and theatrical intensity as I never heard ... Exquisite

I love his expressions when he and his band really nail it. He's a low-key guy, but you can still tell when he's pleased.
the melody of yearning from my heart❤
Hackett a genius
The perfect melody
Greatest prog guitar solo ever-!!!---love all his versions---this is one of my personal favs for some reason
Flawless! And beautiful.

Knew I always loved Hairless Heart since it came out Lamb lies down on Broadway did not really know until now it was Steve Hackett
This is the way firth should be played, I think Daryl Stuermer goes too,"off the page", when I hear his renditions imo
Stuermer is not fit to restring Steve's guitars.
