Keep saving, put 10 and 20 bucks away here and there. Eventually you’ll have the funds but also when you invest into an instrument of this value, you’ll definitely have it for a while and it “might” even appreciate with time (with a little research).
Continue to Worship the Lord with you gift, you’ll never regret it!!!!

@@peterkirdanI also have Yamaha FGX800C which cost around $500 . But it sounds great. It is completely different from Taylor and Martin, because it has both warm and bright tones. So it's flexible in any environments. Because it's EQ is awesome which consists of 3 band EQ and AMF( adjustable mid frequency), where we can find the sweet spot. It's super cool.
So if you need warm or bright tones, you can adjust with AMF.

I used a $250 Rogue for about 14 years and led over 700 worship services with it. That guitar was as faithful to me as it could be. I was a broke worship leader. Now that I'm a software developer and lead worship as a volunteer whenever I get a chance, I was finally able to get a Taylor 214ce dlx (the black one) with the ES-2 ($1500). I absolutely love this guitar! Just wish I could have had it when I was getting to lead worship all the time.

I've been a Takamine guy for 20+ years, I inherited the preference from the worship leader who taught me who was a big fan of them. I think if you spend $2,000 you'll be happy with most anything. Like all things though you probably get more bang for your buck spending the same on a less popular brand. Someone mentioned Yamaha in the comments - that's a great example of a quality/price balance. My current is a Takamine Santa Fe.

Selecting the right guitar is about sound and playability! It's definitely worth investing in a reputable brand for high quality components, but if you don't love the sound and struggle to play it, you're not going to enjoy it. Also pay for a guitar Tech to set up the guitar after you buy it!

As a bi-vocational worship minister in a mid-sized church (150-ish), I found some helpful information in this video. Our team is volunteer, and I don’t remember ever purchasing a guitar for anyone to play, but we have purchased drums and keyboards.
I play the acoustic guitar in our band, and have always played Yamaha guitar Model’s LD-10e and A3R (spruce top, rosewood back&sides) as they seem to be quality instruments and haven’t broken my bank account. That wood combination also seems to have some compression in the midrange, so vocals stand out, while the guitar bass and treble fill out the rest of the spectrum. And, when the students go to summer camp, I’m not stressed about them getting knocked over, or getting kool-ade spilled on them.
For my 15th anniversary of leading worship at the church, I was given a gift of some money and used it, along with some additional money from my family, to purchase a Martin D-18 with a LR Baggs anthem pickup. I am completely impressed with the Martin. It has inspired me as a songwriter and as a musician. The thing is, I could have bought several Yamaha’s for the price of that one Martin. But ultimately, worship is about giving our best back to the Lord. And for what I could afford, my best has moved from Yamaha to Martin.
The Yamaha’s will still be going to summer camp, though. That’s just wisdom.

The live play comparison is in no way an indicator of the way these guitars sound when properly sound reinforced. The only one that was even remotely close to having right settings, was the Martin. I have played all three of these guitars unplugged, through acoustic amps, and direct wired to PA systems. The EQ settings and gain staging was not correct for these guitars when they switched to pickup play. The Taylor alone sounded like it was slightly overdriven. All three are decent guitars, but as far as your plugged in sound goes, please do your own research, plug in at a music store, and test different gain staging and EQ settings. Whoever did the sound reinforcement for the pick up demos, did all of these guitars a great disservice. If it wasn't for that fact that even the Martin's pickup sound was off, I would have thought this was an advertisement for Martin.

I usually really like the church front video's but i found this one kind of lacking with respect to how to go about selecting an acoustic guitar. The fact that all of the guitars where in the $2000 range just isn't realistic for a lot of people that play as volunteers in churches. It's true that martin, taylor and gibson make some great stuff and are reknown as they pioneered alot of what we use today, but the fact is that there are many other excellent brands that offer more value for the money. with martin, taylor and gibson your paying for the name and lets not forget that there where quite a few years were Gibson had some major quality control issue. I personally really like the Godin line of guitars (Which are made in Canada) and their affiliates like seagull, Normand, Simon and Patrick, etc. My Seagull Maritime SWS CW is an all solid body guitar and ran about $800-$900. if i looked at some of the name brand guitars at the same price point (I forget if it was taylor or martin) but the guitar was made in china and the neck was laminated like plywood....The video could have gone into a lot more details about the body shape and tone wood with respect to the style of music that you play....plus at the end of the day as a general rule go with what sounds good to you. There are many affordable guitars at a much lower price point that are great for leading worship with so don't feel like you need to spend $2000 on a guitar to be able to lead worship. At the end of the day worship is more about the heart then about your guitar.

For me, a slope shoulder Gibson (in my case, J45 and J15) is the best for worship. . . or ANY genre. Great dynamic range, clarity, natural compression and a tight bass that won't get in the way of the keyboards or the bass. And for electronics, the LR Baggs Element was ok; but I decided to upgrade them with LR Baggs HiFi and they're the BEST, even better than the Anthem.

Jake, I appreciate you doing this video with Sweetwater, but I am very shocked you are doing demos on $2,000 guitars! I have never purchased a guitar over 1K never mind 2K! Also, the natural sound of a guitar can be enhanced and modified with EQ and your pickup so you can make a cheap guitar sound really good. Do you really believe a $2,000 guitar is vital for a worship leader or are there also lower cost options you can recommend? Maybe you can do something similar for those of us that can't afford it? I understand the investment for a lifetime argument but smaller churches with volunteer worship leaders and expensive guitars are difficult to reconcile. Thanks and God bless!

The guitar sounds great and plays well. Now i’m in a phase of life where I can afford a more expensive guitar so I recently set a budget of $5,000 and paid $3,000 for an amazing sounding and playing guitar with built-in electronics. In my opinion finding a brand that builds guitars well is key for set up, intonation, strong neck and etc. Construction is the most important. Next is your preference in sound. The more expensive, the more you have to take care of it cuz it’s all solid wood.
I prefer a non-electric acoustic. I can pick any pick up I like. I currently have a passive under saddle and body transducer pick up using a piezo active DI. Close enough to a mic sound. No knobs cuz my sound guy will eq it. Never have to worry about a battery.

The main question should be why are we discussing spending thousands when 99.9% of the people listening couldn't tell the difference between a $2k or $200 guitar? A little exaggeration, but you get the gist.

Buy a $2000 Martin- put it through a LR Bagg pick up and you're all set! It will be the best money spent you ever did.

There are much better guitars for that price than from the big names (Taylor/Martin/Gibson). Eastman, Furch, Auden and lots of others. It pays to do your research and not just go for the brand.

ORANGEWOOD ORANGEWOOD ORANGEWOOD ORANGEWOOD ORANGEWOOD!!!!!!! Best budget guitars out there. I’ve led worship with them before I got my Taylor and they’re great. Sounds fantastic, play really nicely, super affordable.

i would love when the guitar's playability or AKA its "Easy Play" can be taken into consideration together with its Price Tag, Brand, Model Name, Woods and Electronics, I have walked into acoustic guitar showrooms that at one end of the spectrum, the most legendary of guitar brands and highest price tags of their guitar's were painful and tormentous to play, i knew within the first 30 to 60 seconds of strumming and fingering that I would have been wasted and beat-up on a minimum of a 30 minute set, at the other end of the spectrum a most pleasant, honey and silky playing Guitar that lacked the Woods, Craftsmanship, Electronics, Durability and Just Sound Production that were between $100 to $300, Go Figure!.....So its an Adventure, Art and Skill to find that Needle in the Haystack Acoustic Guitar that can bring the most of the most needed essentials when playing in a Band or Solo, I had found so far the Martin GPCA4 Rosewood as the Spoke or Hub in the middle of the pack, its a give and take on any acoustic guitar one will decide on settling down with, the bottom line being that it will always give you more than what it lacks or does not have
