The best moments of our trip to the Big Island! The enitre video was captured with the GoPro HD HERO3: Black Editition at 1080p 60fps. Color graded in Davinci Resolve (thanks to my pops for helping me through that one!)
Huge thanks to my good friend Justin Smith and all the homies we made on the big island! This trip was nothing but fun and adventure, Dusty Owens is insane, and I look forward to revisiting this wonderful place.

The majority of the video was shot with my gopro mounted on a "Steadicam Smoothee". I have since learned a few tricks to keep it even more steady! It is very lightweight and easy to balance, but wind quickly becomes your worst enemy!

Glad you liked it! I used a combination of the wide, medium, and narrow field of view. I tried to keep the majority of the shots in medium or narrow unless I found it necessary to go wide

WOW! This video just showed up because I'd been watching some other travel/adventure videos & all I have to say is DAMN. Excuse my language but I'm just that impressed. I just recently returned from a 5 week trip across Europe where I started filming & editing my own videos so I know how hard it is to produce high quality content. I've been studying videos like yours to improve my own skills for future videos. I just wanted to say great work! You just earned yourself a new subscriber!

The edit was done in FCP 7, some shots were stabilized in FCP X, some shots were slowed down using twixtor in After Effects, and then the video was color graded in Davinci Resolve.

Boiling pots! That specific jump was a little ways down from Pe'epe'e Falls, right in front of one of the lookouts. If you check out 0:11 you have to climb down, walk to the right, and your there man. You should see it right away
Where on the island is it where the guy is jumping really high off the cliffs?
I have a Gopro hero 3 black edition as well and was wondering what type of software did you use because my videos don't even look close to the quality of this one. If someone could help me answer this question that'd be great! thanks

Thanks! I shot with protune off, which gave me more contrast to start with, but the graded shots are far from what came out of the camera. Much of the color was brought back in post.
what program are you using to edit? please I really need one... my GoPro videos when edited loose most of the full HD -.-

How far down did you guys go at Boiling pots?
Appreciate it! The video was shot at 1080p 60fps with protune turned off. This led me to some grief in post..it would of been wonderful to have more dynamic range when color grading. Also, I was getting a lot of compression artifacts in the more detailed scenes as well as shots that had a great deal of motion. Protunes increased data-rate would have minimalized the issue, so for future projects I will surely have it turned ON
