Then things got so much worse and it was like??? No! We wanted to make things better, not watch them get so much worse we're fighting to bring it back to the former status quo!
We made so many steps forward, we just couldn't believe it was possible to start taking steps back. We thought we were past all this. But Gen X and Boomers just wanna prove they can exercise their power, for good or (mostly) evil.

@@pvtnum11I think a majority of them hate their kids because of the refusal to break the cycle of abuse they went through with their parents. Their parents had them because it was expected of them, probably as soon as they were 18 and married, and instead of learning how to raise a child, they’d beat them silly, and verbally abuse them. But that’s only if they weren’t too busy neglecting them. They were taught that children weren’t allowed to have feelings, if they did, you simply beat it out of them, or until they hide them where they can’t inconvenience you.
Though, that’s probably giving a few of the selfish people who refused any introspection beyond the stereotypical bully persona, an excuse, but that’s ultimately the minority.

Do keep in mind that they arent always complaining about their own kids though. Some of them got a fucked childhood and did a complete 180 for their kids to the point where it was permissive parenting which in itself is neglectful and therefore abusive, just in the other direction imo.
You dont learn life skills very well from never being challenged and helicopter parented. You dont learn social emotional regulation if your parents are acting like they checked out of parenting and are acting like your friends from down the block.
Literacy rate issues are just due to phonics being punted out thw window and stupid teaching trends that resurfaced. Shitty trends cycle back in every few decades because theyre peddled by grifters in books and conferences to make a buck. Throwing out phonics was devastating and most schools now do it side by side with sight reading which they tend to fall back on when any student is being grade level so they can cheat the kid into being the right grade level. Has the same energy as memorizing 2+2=4 not realizing what the numbers and signs actually represent.
I was a teacher. Shit is a mess. Some of the X-ers are to blame. Im a millenial-zoomer. Parents are X-ers. As the eldest, I got the idk what the fuck parenting is childhood mostly. Most Gen Xers like me would never put our faces on social media, as it hampers our ability to work from the shadows. That's a fairly modern concept."
And I'll be sitting there with a horrified look on my face, because her brother was (and still is) extremely disabled - he is completely non-verbal and needs 24-hour care. The fact that her mother never took him to the doctor had nothing to do with the 1980's attitude towards disabilities! Her mother was just a neglectful b*tch who was ashamed to have a disabled son so she pulled him out of school when they started to question why she hadn't set him up with a school carer or enrolled him in the special school (which was a part of the same school), hid him from society, and abused him at every chance she got because she was a miserable twisted old woman. Parents are the perpetrators in over 90% of kidnappings, usually to hide the kid from the other parent. When you look at most crimes, you’re far more likely to be hurt by someone you know (family or close friend) than a stranger. Teaching children to avoid seeking outside help doesn’t protect children, it protects the people hurting children.

I am later Gen-X, and every time I see an about Gen X by a Gen-X , I know it’s going to make me cringe. I don’t see them talking about understanding the struggles of the younger generation, I don’t see them defending the younger generation, I don’t see them talking about how messed up it was when we were young and how they are trying to do things better - I just see them projecting their weird nostalgia like it’s a competition or something. The whole thing is weird.
