I met a kid in the late 90's and the first time I heard him play I knew he was something special. High action and intensity and perfectly dramatic mood shifts. He was about 16 and he sounded a lot like D'Sa today. With low end equipment he was able to pull off clean, creative, original riffs and melodies. You know how a great player can get on any equipment and sound phenomenal? This kid was already that good.
Over a few years I watched him progress as he was in a band with a close buddy.
He got into pill popping during the end of that time. He was found dead of a heroin overdose under a tree in a park.
When I hear D'Sa's riffs and change ups I get reminded of the first player that gave me the same feeling of wow.
If he were still with us he would've gone places.
