- Total garbage. Total joke. Removing a pitcher from the game during a no-hitter?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That's the state of Major League Baseball, and I'm mad about it. 10,000 people had the chance to see a no-hitter at Chase Field, and that was taken away when Blake Snell, the San Diego Padres' starter, was taken out of the game after seven innings -- and why? Because his pitch count was too high? Gimme a break! I don't know whose decision it was, but I hate it. It's bad for fans and it's bad for the sport, and I'd argue that it's bad for the players too. When something special can be taken away from you, it drains the competitive edge. UGH!!
Anyway, I should probably admit that I had a good time aside from all this nonsense. The Arizona Diamondbacks are like 8 million games out of 1st place, but their underrated stadium is still a gem. I snagged a few baseballs during batting practice, wandered up to the upper deck to enjoy the view (and watch the live organist), and had a VERY COOL seat for the game with close proximity to superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. And as for the famous swimming pool out in right-center field . . . make sure you watch this entire video because something special happened there in the 9th inning.

I managed to get the ball that Bryce Harper threw to get the out at home plate. Happened to be the pitchers first hit of his career. After talking to someone from the DBacks. I completely and TOTALLY agree about the current state of the MLB. It's awful. I stopped watching MLB games in 2017 when a fan was banned from Wrigley Field for LIFE for playing the innocent circle game on camera and was accused of being a "racist"! This was a game we played as kids and yes, it's juvenile, but the woke, crazy MLB accused a fan of this and banned him from the game. Unforgivable. I was a life-long Cubs fan before that. What a shame. Can't slide hard, can't pitch complete games, pointing to first for intentional walks. How lazy! This is not the game I grew up with anymore.

So agree with you!!! It happened again, twice, this season (2022). Darvish on opening day carried a no no into the 6th and he was yanked. The next day, Manaea carried one into the 7th and was yanked. Both were under 100 pitches and both games were versus the D-backs in AZ.
There were a fair number of Padres fans at this game, considering the Pads were in the middle of their melt down at this point of the season.

In the Mall of America in Minneapolis, the old baseball stadium there is a red seat on the wall where the longest home run hit in that stadium. Also there is a home plate on the floor where it was located. Pretty cool

It has been said that leaving Johan in to throw his no-hitter basically ruined him..esp at his age and his history of shoulder injuries. Heck, even his own manager at the time, Terry Collins has said he regrets leaving him in....So yeah, maybe pitch counts aren't a horrible thing, even in a no-hitter situation.

I can't agree more about this! MLB is getting softer and softer by the day it seems. What a shame in my opinion, not only for the player but for the fans as well. Nevertheless, a great video as always. Fenway Chris on point with the camera as usual.

Unpopular opinion... The Padres did the right thing taking Blake Snell out of the game - and now that he might be out for the season, they may have even left him in too long as he hasn't thrown this many innings since 2018 and now their season is probably over too - Yes, it was nice to see Corey Kluber throw a no-hitter earlier this year but I wish the YANKEES had taken Kluber and German out earlier this season instead of letting them go for no hitters and having both of them end up on the IL... MLB should have learned the hard lesson and high price the Mets paid getting Johan Santana a no hitter and ending his career. it's more important to win a pennant than risk a team's chances of the postseason or someone's career over what if effect is a meaningless individual achievement in a team sport. ESPECIALLY since the pitchers today have played their entire lives from Little League on with pitch counts and inning limits and with the advanced metrics advocating MPH and high spin rate there are more Tommy John surgeries than ever. When Nolan Ryan pitched, guys would throw 300 inning a year all the time and no one ever even thought of counting pitches. is MLB too soft? no, I think the pitchers are too soft now and MLB needs to get even softer to protect them. and teams need to stop drafting and signing players based only on the number of the radar gun. a lot of quality pitchers who have durable arms are passed over in the draft because they only throw 89.

Remember when Snell was pitching for TB during the world series, he was also taken out even though he was destroying the Dodgers.
While I disagree with the move like most people do I understand the decision. It was a 1-0 game, top of the order was coming up. The Rays were facing elimination. I was more annoyed at the Rays for bringing in Nick Anderson who was awful all postseason. However, the Rays still robbed Baseball of a potentially really cool moment. How awesome would it be if Snell stayed in and threw a complete game 1-0 shutout to force a game 7? That’s something people would be talking about for years. Oh well.

Sorry the game got ruined for you Zack. I agree that MLB is getting soft and there is definite room for improvement. Some of the things I don't like are: running the game primarily by analytics, the shift, pampering the players, so many players getting hurt so often, 7 inning double headers, too many strikeouts, too many players with low batting averages, players who don't hustle right out of the box, starting pitchers that only go 5 innings, a bloop and a blast philosophy, managers who are puppets of the general manager, players who disrespect the fans because they can't handle being booed, etc. Overall I still love baseball, but those are some of the things that I think are hurting the game.
I agree with nearly everything, but I disagree about the shift. I love it and think that guys need to learn how to hit better.
@@zackhample Last night at Yankee Stadium the Blue Jays had 4 outfielders when Joey Gallo was up. I just think that's ridiculous allowing fielders to play that far out of position. Unless everything hit is a home run, how is he supposed to hit better?
