    Many people understand the question forms, it would be very helpful to show how to use them in statements... e.g. These are my six friends, most of whom live in the city.

    I tend to get confused when it's a declarative sentence. Ex:
    "I met a strange man ____ I suspect to be an undercover agent."
    It's "whom", right? Because "man" is the receiver of the verb "suspect"?

    • @SparkleEnglish
      @SparkleEnglish  Před rokem

      Yes! That is correct. In that sentence, "whom" is used as the object of the verb "suspect". Since the strange man is the one being suspected, he is the object of the suspicion.

    All formally correct, but the word "whom" is clearly falling out of use as the English language continues to change and evolve.

      That's tricky. It's either a very good point or cheating!

      This is true. I never use "whom" in conversation with my friends. They would probably laugh if I did!
