    Learn how to toe turn in this beginner snowboard video. When you first start snowboarding turning onto your toes can be difficult, but I've got three tips to make toe turns easy.
    First, let's break down the toe turn. Get ready for the turn by controlling your speed on your snowboard. Look and point downhill to get your snowboard going straight and Flat. Start to turn your body to the top the slope and pressure your toe edge to complete the turn. Control your speed on your toe edge and get ready for the next turn.

    I really want to thank you for sharing this. Today, after 8 hrs of snowboard course, I practiced everything that my instructors had taugh me but I always had a hard time on toe turn but but.. because of this video I was able to execute it well. I am so happy thanks for sharing this time. I had to be confident with the toe slide before toe turn and i did them today with right execution, it worked well!! 🎉

    I was going too fast down a slope on my second time snowboarding and thought, instead of safely stopping myself heelside, what i know how to do, why dont i try something new. So i started sliding toeside, and and didnt put enough pressure on my toes. The heelside edge of the board clipped the snow, i fell backwards down the mountain with my arms and out behind me. and i am sitting here 6 months later, still with a broken wrist, watching this for when i go back out on the slopes. haha

    its my 2nd time going to a ski resort and your videos were helpful. I'm confident with my heel slide but not on my toe slide though. I've got a question. when turning or doing a "carve" the front foot should lead the direction and the back foot should be stationary? tnx in advance

    • @SnowboardProCamp
      @SnowboardProCamp  Před 10 lety

      When you're learning to turn you do focus more on your front foot. You need to put weight on it so you can get your snowboard going straight down the slope. You do use your back foot to control your speed just like when your learning the heel and toe slide. It gets more advanced as your turns become more advanced, but I wouldn't worry about that yet.

    • @SnowboardProCamp
      @SnowboardProCamp  Před 9 lety

      Allen Kiang yeah, remember to keep your upper body square to your board when you make the turn. Try to make your turn a little bigger and turn with your upper and lower body together. Hope that helps!

  • @blackbelt904
    @blackbelt904 Před 9 lety +1

    I am a beginner and i can hell turn really well and i am practicing my toe turns. I have a question. When I look at other better riders go down a hill, I see them swiveling. It looks like their back foot is moving and it goes from left to right so they move from left to right but very subtly. Is it just a sequence of slight heel turns and toe turns or is there more to it than that?

    • @SnowboardProCamp
      @SnowboardProCamp  Před 9 lety +5

      Varun Harvu A big difference between beginner turns and intermediate turns is where people are spraying snow to control speed. When you're a beginner you spray snow downhill. The intermediate turners you see are spraying snow to the side, controlling their speed as they ride. The more you ride focus on where you're spraying the snow to slow down to work toward intermediate turning. Good luck!

    Love it though I'm wondering, I was using my Aunts snowboard last year and shoes from another aunt and my toes stood out a bit off the snowboard, this year I have my own board and my own shoes but I haven't used them yet. Last year when I was snowboarding the reason, I think, made me faceplant most of the time while doing the toe turn was that my toes dug into the snow when I tried to turn... could that just be the setting on the board or am I simply doing it wrong?
    ps. I've done skiing since I was able to stand on the ski's, but I'm 18 now and starting snowboarding for the first time. XD

  • @EmilyTruong247
    @EmilyTruong247 Před 8 lety

    Are my heels not supposed to move up and down inside the boots? m wearing boots size 6. When standing straight, my toes barely touch the front, which sounds right. But when doing toe turn, Mine heels can move up and down in the boots and i feel like that makes it harder for me to do toe turn. But If i go half size down, 5.5, i feel like too tight for my toes when standing up. My regular shoes size is 6.

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving Před 6 lety

      Not sure if you've figured this out yet but no, your heels are not supposed to rise up. Nicer boots have internal harnesses and even customizable heal cups that help prevent this. You can also try adjusting the position of your ankle strap to help hold you down better and while boots shouldn't be uncomfortable the should definitely be tight. Heal lift is no fun.
