Wasn’t bothered. Some say do it. Some say not. I didn’t. Car didn’t cost me much. I show how to do it in my vw t4 abl timing belt change.

Yup, rarely belt fails because of the belt it self. Even with all the cracks and stuff it will run for years. Belt fails because of the faulty tensioner, pulleys water pump...

Os timing belt on SDI might be changed every 6 years? Because of low engine speed in theory belt should last longer ...?

Maybe, but according to the service sheet this SDI has no time limit, only mileage!

To my knowledge it sounds fine. I got the same engine, whining should be much louder if overtensioned
