    I have exactly the same car and engine with 500 000 kms,always with castrol 5W40,I don t know your motor oil,but always be careful with good shipest oil.I don't know where you live and maybe 10W40 is good for the climate.Good video

      Thanks, This engine has about 100k miles 160k kms, I prefer cheap oil and to change it often. Usually once a year because I do about 4-5k miles per year. Once an engine is this old I don't think it is worth spending money on it. But we all have different opinions about cars!

    That Bosch pump will give you trouble and start sucking air around the head, why one of the fuel lines is clear, to see bubbles. A few little ones are alright, it is tricky but they can be changed without loosing the time on it, that's is big trouble if you do. Two 1.9TDI's

      I have already done the timing on this engine and posted a video about it.

      @@bootsowen Its the pump timing, and the head seal on it. With out vag-com if you take it apart or remove it its a PITA.

    Hi, I've got the same motor in my Caddy MK2, trusty old tractor. How's the golf running?
    I always thought the oil level should be more towards the top of the groove not the grid where it was before you sucked a bit out? Are you 100% it should be at the top of the grid?
    Also on Opie Oils they recommend 15w40 now but I've been using 5w40 Millers (winter) and previously 10w40, while VW recommend 5w30? Do you think 5w30 was used when the motor was new or under 100k miles that's why they recommend that?
    Cheers.

      It just won't die, I have never looked at the rating of oil, just the price, cheapest and often, in my case once a year for about 5000miles. As long as there isn't too much in it the oil light will let you know if there is too little. It's a good job I like fixing stuff.

    Hello! Interesting video. I have one question. Why did you put semi synthetic oil in 1.9 sdi?

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  Před 2 lety +1

      Because it’s the cheapest.

      @@bootsowen oh OKEY. Is it normal for 1.9sdi to have knocking sound while acceleration. I have 1.9 sdi for the first time. It's loud machine so I don’t know is it typical sound or failure..
