The boys discuss a dramatic 120 minutes that culminated in a 5-6 penalty shootout triumph for Celtic.
Aberdeen took an early lead through Bojan Miovski but Celtic levelled around 20 minutes later after Kyogo dispossessed Angus MacDonald, the Japanese striker's shot was blocked but left Nicholas Kühn with an open goal.
The introduction of James Forrest changed the game for Celtic and the winger gave the Hoops a 2-1 lead just minutes after he came on. Aberdeen built pressure towards full-time and sent the game into extra time after Ester Sokler headed in Junior Hoilett's cross at the back-post.
Celtic huffed and puffed in extra time and moments before half-time, Allistair Johnston's cutback found Matt O'Riley who finished high past Kelle Roos into the top corner. The drama wasn't over though, and the Dons equalised again in stoppage time once again, with an almost identical back-post header - this time from Angus MacDonald.
But it was Celtic who triumphed in the shootout. Joe Hart missed from the spot to win but earned a reprieve minutes later by saving the decisive penalty from Killian Phillips.
Celtic will play Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden on Saturday 25th May.

Cults? They are both 20million pound plus players. We are lucky to have them. What we need is a physical replacement for McGregor / Iwata. Lack of physicality is an issue across the side but we wont get upgrades on Hatate and O'Reily with this board in place.

Sorry, I have watched both O'Riley and Hatate game after game (before the latter got injured) and have constantly wondered why these two are held up as something really special. Our wingers are a real problem but we have what we have. What is McGregor doing in the squad let alone starting a semi final? Id be shocked if he can even train properly, he looks months off fitness. As the club captain has to put his hand up and say he isnt fit to start, he isnt behaving like a leader. Rodgers knows he isnt fit either.
Is anyone surprised that Aberdeens tactic was to drop crosses over Scales? Any manager worth their salt will be doing that all game against us, he is an absolute diddy. A wee purple patch while we had lots on injuries back there seems to have blinded too many people. Nawrocki should start the rest of the games this season but Scales is Rodgers wee project (see Jack Hendry) so he'll play and lets just hope he doesnt cost us.
Thats a dreadful Aberdeen side btw. Take Miovski out and they'd be going down, they are basically Livi with a good striker.
I said a few weeks back that we needed rangers to have a dip somewhere, Rodgers is a lucky man that they have had that dip because he has turned us in to a predictable, turgid side.

Kudos to the penalty takers. I was not aware of the team selection until kick- off. Intuition tells me 'Rodgers will drop both Nawrocki and Iwata'. A mistake! This game went south after several minutes when Aberdeen scored from a lazy tracking back effort from McGregor and CCV ball watching and failing to go with Miovski's run. This was not a good team performance, start with the back four all of whom played poorly. Not often you can state this about CCV but he almost made that same error later in the first and he was poor overall. The back four were all poor and this is a huge problem. The three midfielders too were poor as they never offered any type of transition or creativity forward. They are all attacking midfielders and that composition does not work on the back end, you need (3) players that complement each other. Kyogo was making runs but no service, Kuhn was ok, however our resident commentator Michael Stewart kept pointing out Kuhn and Yang's inability to go to the goal-line. He needs to realize that they are playing on there off wings and if they go wide, they will show their opponent the ball. I actually think Kuhn would be better on the left. Leave him there with Palma on the right. O'Riley scored a nice goal but I need to write he was not very good today. Idah's performance was one that the ball appeared alien to him. He missed some chances. Rodgers needs to fix the left side of that defense and that's easily done. As he so often alluded to, power and pace, really Taylor and Scales, this is an ego thing with Rodgers. I would start Nawrocki at left Center back and drop Scales. I would drop Taylor and play Yuki Kobayashi. I can hear the shouts of derision! Go back and watch him vs Kilmarnock last year. He played in Japan pre-season was injured and Rodgers decided to bury him. (Because he gave up a bad goal to Souttar or was it Cantwell at Ibrox). He is left sided, can pass the ball out of the back is taller that Taylor and would have a better understanding with Maeda if he plays ahead of him. If Rodgers persists with Tayor and Scales, we will likely see crossed balls to our back post in abundance.

2 of the goals was down to Taylor the hide and seek champ, watch them again hes no where near his man, wasn't Scales fault, it was 2 on 1 scales had to deal with because of Taylor going missing. Scales arguably player of the season due to him stepping in when we had so many defensive injuries and helped us carry on

    • @Delboy-hi1ld

Yes Taylor needs to stop the cross but AGAIN scales shitting it with a simple cross in the box. That ginger heeded prick is gonna cost us unless Rodgers grows a set an drops him. Hes an absolute disgrace

Fair enough if they rate him but it’s the same every game.
Why not balance it? Taylor is having a dismal season but he escapes any real analysis and criticism every video.
It’s selling the viewers short, the analysis is so narrow.

Yang is neither a footballer nor an athlete. But the whole team from minute one was flat and the midfield was poor. And to take off Forest for a centre back, bad coaching. Joe Hart should be collecting balls into our six yard area as the guys six four for gods sake.

Normally have time for Kenny's opinions, but it's nonsense to suggest AJ for man of the match.
Both the Aberdeen 2nd & 3rd goals came from crosses on his side which he did hee haw to stop coming in
He blocks those crosses & we dinnae get exposed defending the back post.

    • @SukieDude
      @SukieDude Před 15 dny

Fair enough crosses came from his side but Scales didnt exactly cover himself in glory did he? Dont even think he jumped for either of them. When he does win a header its always straight back to the opponent and invites pressure back on us.

--> 1st) We won. If we win the Final, this will have been water under the bridge. Learn a lesson; don't repeat mistakes.

Got to disagree with Kenny, I thought Iwata made a big difference when he came on. McGregor is the uncomfortable truth - he is not fit and he doesn’t hold his position which means Hatate and O’Riley aren’t effective. Yang - he shouldn’t be near the team again.

Didnt help that Hatate and oriley were really poor in the first half as well. Oriley needed 4 touches to get the ball under control. Hatate was never in the game which happens alot with him. He is either man of the match or struggles to get involved.

I was in the South stand, where everyone was in their seats except for cheering the goals, but the North stand and two ends seemed to have everyone standing for the whole game. Is that normal ? I have back pain issues and would be pretty uncomfortable having to stand. I don't need a disabled person's space but I paid for a hospitality ticket and would have been unable to see the match if every row in front of me had stood up.
