REVIVING A '77 Ford LTD Into A TAXI After 28 Years

- This 1977 Ford LTD was sitting for nearly 3 decades before I got it with the intent of filming a short 1970s car chase film with it. Before we can do that, we have to make it run and drive again and paint it DIY-style to look like a real taxicab.

Merry Christmas to you and, Jess, and JD. I admit, this had to be one of the funnier ones you've done. People should watch these because this is serious gold. You're not a restorer so much as a "see if I can make it run until it dies" kind of guy. I think the paint was worth more than the car! Keep it up and I'll still watch your videos. Multiple times.

@@PoleBarnGarage You're going for more of the affordable range of cars that would most likely have been scrapped anyway. Might as well have a little fun with them before they are turned into 20 Kia cars! Plus you have engines that you can use for other cars. (Sgt Stubbs needs some serious suspension work and probably a new engine. It might make a good truck to bring more parts cars to build your ultimate monster!
One time I messaged a guy about a 77 cutlass, thing was sweet, really clean. I gave him $1,100 because the key cylinder spun free.
I showed up with a pair of needle nose pliers, reached up and grabbed the rod, pulled and fired it up, handed him the cash and bid him a good day.
The look on his face was priceless.
My dad had a '72 T-Bird with a 460. When something in the ignition switch would no longer trigger the starter, he rigged up a wall switch that was conveniently in his toolbox (and probably scavanged for free). Flip on, flip off. Now that's budget.
Man JD is so tall now. Reaching into the air cleaner is now no problem. Happy Christmas to you and your clan good sir.

Not sure here, just spit balling now, but you must have the most chill Sheriff anywhere that looks the other way and leaves you to your own de-vices. I must say the antics are pure fun behind the wheel like we all recall when we look back at our irresponsible youth. Damn we had fun back then.

ohh they def know! usually they know after about 5 years of service that when you see something so bad that by far the best thing to do is absolutely ignore it. The only trouble is when a passerby calls in a complaint, then they are somewhat forced to address it. That’s why in the Amish communities they handle things themselves because they don’t have phones to call the cops…😂

I'm not normally a fan of "long" youtube videos, but I really appreciate videos where a project begins/ends in the same video. You always do a great job with editing and storytelling to make a longer video move along at good clip. I don't have the attention span or patience for long drawn out multi video projects. Keep up the good work man!

Man, almost lost the shop on that oil change. I can't believe it was running on 4 with all the vacuum leaks. The Jaaaag tank really brought the class and prestige I expect from this channel to the LTD. the movie is gonna be good 👌🏻🤘🏻

Without a doubt you are the most entertaining and informative you tuber in the will it run world! Hopefully you’ll get into a better pole barn that doesn’t leak this year and just maybe get a lift! I gotta say you nailed it with with that taxi scene! I still kinda remember the 70's, and that's what those films were like. The NY/NJ accents (because it's a cab), the quick one liners and two liners -

I'm an avid Derek fan, watching all his uploads etc, but he is not better. His channel is different. You are doing both Derek and Dalton a disservice by saying that. They would both say they enjoyed the other. Neither would say their content is better, or worse than the other. It's called respect. If you don't like what Dalton does, not the f on. If you do like start Dalton does, don't suggest other channels as being better. They're different is all. CZcams would not exist if all channels were the same.

I bought a 77 LTD in Tampa just after getting off the plane from the UK in 1987, paid $900 and drove it to Mexico where it was totalled and then sold to the local Mayor as a garden ornament. Must say I love PBG as you are reviving all the cars I used to work on and rent out when I moved to San Diego. I worked for a business called "rent a car cheep" and yes the logo was a chick. Rented out all the stuff you have shown on here, even square bodies... if they came back from across the border, great! Didn't matter if they didn't as most only cost a few hundred bucks from the breakers and auctions on the border. Thanks to my time in the US I only drive large motors in the UK, yes I do have a Jaaaaag and several full fat Range Rovers topped off by a 300c touring... estate in the UK, don't think you had them in US? My neighbour has a Dodge charger and an AC Cobra and my cus runs around in a GMC truck so we do have old US metal over here.

Ah, the LTD - the Crown Vic of its day and probably my favourite malaise-era boat. I don't share the hate that many car guys seem to have for four-door sedans - they're practical if nothing else - but this one does look too far gone to be worth putting back on the road. Now she looks mildy presentable from, oh, 50 feet away - definitely good enough to trade some tractor paint with the cop car in a 70s-style chase sequence! Can't wait for that video 😂

Dalton built a perfectly clean taxi but it wasn't complete without minor front end damage so running into the gate was necessary.
I love your LTD videos. My first car was a '74 with a 400 in it. It was a light, custard yellow with a green interior. Bullitproof... until my brother borrowed it and ran it out of oil. At that point it developed a knock. Later, the automatic choke failed and it filled the crankcase with gas, and it developed a second knock. Dad noticed gas coming out of the dipstick tube. He just deleted the auto choke and changed the oil. Then the brother borrowed it again and was driving in reverse with the door open and went into the ditch, placing the driver's door on the hood. Got a junkyard door, which was a different yellow. My dad owned a service station, so I could pull it in after hours to fix whatever. And gas was cheap. I put lots of miles on it, and it was fast! The placement of the AC piping made changing the alternator near impossible. But that AC... you could hang meat in there! It would frost the vents on a hot day. The temp difference one hot day made the rear driver's window blow out!
Definitely looking forward to the movie! Pretty awesome piece by piece your getting movie cars ready! I hope you all are having a great holiday, yet being skilled trades for an automotive manufacturing plant I'm sure you had to work most of a shut down.
