Actually, I don’t think any student of that scene is acting like a student from mathematics major, maths is intoxicating and sometimes made people confused, but the bunch of students acted like they were reading a fiction rather than a maths provider, if u ever saw a maths genius before will know that’s not real, their reactions are not the facial expressions on people who really do maths.
I deeply relate to Alex here (not the math part, the fearing graduation part). As a student I poured my heart and soul into getting good grades and excelling academically. After finally graduating from my second Master’s degree (yes I’m an overachiever) I kind of went through a depressive spell because I didn’t know what to do with myself. Really? No true mathematician gives a damn about this trick proofs of 0=1. But actually 0 can be considered as equal to 1 in other mathematical domains. Higher mathematics isn't just about the integers. But this doesn't make all mathematics to completely break down.
