    Why are punch down blocks used in the first place instead of just plain feed through blocks? Isn't plug and play just easier than punch downs? :E

      Guess it's easier to have direct connection instead. Maybe it allows seamless transition to swap to new hardware while keeping the wiring for the area in check.

      It depends on the application. Typically punch downs are used to transition from the physical cabling to end user accessibility. It also makes reworking/ rearranging physical infrastructure easier.

      When you're wiring a multi-story office building, punch blocks are vital for managing or modifying long runs - especially when you're dealing with dozens (or even hundreds) of connections.
