- The Corvette C8.R made its debut with the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible at a reveal event at Kennedy Space Center. During the event, Corvette Racing's Tommy Milner started up the C8.R and revved its mystery engine. Details will be released at Petit Le Mans.

That's gotta be a low displacement flat plane crank V8 with dual overhead cams. Revs high, revs fast, and its sounds more violent than a six.
It definitely is my guy, its said to be the new 4.4L twin turbo V8 thats supposed to be in the C8 Vette soon. Of course with a totally different sound haha. Id rather have the big fuck off sound theyre known for though.

Very possibly could be pneumatic valving. Thats F1 sounds. It was rumored years ago GM had a pneumat system. Thats way more than just a flat plane crank unless its a two stroke. Even titanium valves dont open that fast.

I've read that it is a 5.5L V8 with dual overhead cams and a flat plane crank. It reportedly produces about 500 HP and 480 lb/ft of torque.

firing order was switched up as well, getting more of that sweet sweet exotic sound from this. really hope they put this into a production model down the line.

@@adithyakosgi222 The firing order is always changed on a FPC over a CPC as it usually fires two cylinders at the same time. This makes it rev up real quick and scavenges exhaust gases better. I'm guessing we'll see this engine in a Z06. Let's hope.

Not really. This is a follow on car. Any thing that follows is generally better. The GT has proven itself at le mans lets see how this one goes. Remembering that the gt road car has more hp than the race car.
Maybe the ecoboost GT. But not the nearly 15 year old 5.4 liter GT. As a Ford guy, I think the C8 Corvette, is the first Corvette, better than the GT. It's just sad it took GM 15 years to do this!

So just want to put this out there. If you research LS or LT motors with 8-to-1 headers, with the 180 degree firing pulses accounted for, the exhaust note shapes up to something akin to a Ferrari. Throw in lightened rotating assembly and advanced tech valvetrain, you may very well have the base motor with some sauce cooked in. Would not be surprised either way, sounds godly!

Flat crank
A flat plane crank alone won't make this sound. I have a friend with a gt350 mustang. It has a 5.2 liter V8 with a flat plane crank and dual overhead cams. This car sounds different and revs much quicker than my friends car. Chevy certainly isn't known for V12s but, this definitely sounds like a V12 to me. We will see

Its a v8, you can heard the displacement at @0:50 , v12 doesn't sound like that.
I would say this has a very aggressive valve timing, exhaust porting and active induction... plus a dynamic exhaust system.
