Interesting! The C Model Mooney is one of the best values for an entry-level cross-country machine.

What's the difference between and C model "Ranger" and just a regular C model?

Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about buying a Mooney. Definitely invested in a wireless lav mic for when you're far from the camera, it's pretty hard to hear you.

The 201 windshield mod adds about 15 hours to any avionics job.

Very instructive information. I got a question if you know the answer for it; what is the life span airframe on the Mooneys M20C.

Mark, have you or do you know of any one who has done a video of where to grease/lubricate and what types of lubricant greases are used on Mooney's? I have a 65 M20C

Always loved the Mooneys. Way ahead of their time. I fly newer model planes, mainly a SR22. I am curious about your thoughts on early model planes (safety wise). What year engine do you have? Hours? Any gotchas. There is no better value than the Mooney. Great bird and hangar!

Mark, would there be any benefit putting a three bladed prop on a 180 or 200 hp Mooney?

Nice video. I got a C model this past September, loving it so far. All the speed mods, even speed brakes. Sandel HSI and autopilot. Real nice. My issue is I find it so hard to start in this NE weather. It turns over but not catching. Battery gets drained then after a jump/recharge, she will start the very first try. 13 hrs in a Mooney and 290 tt. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I recommend making sure the mag points are internally set to the E gap position plus timed to the engine. You can also can try fine wire spark plugs or protruding electrode type my 2nd choice. Also your starting procedure is sometimes the problem. With no primer you must pump the throttle during cranking only till it catches. Never pump it without cranking it, you flood the carb heat box & cause a fire. There are also few more expensive ways like electric primer or electronic ignition but its unnecessary.

@@Nord3202 So someone showed me how to give it extra shots of prime in the winter and it works.

I had the same problem with my '65 C. Got the carburetor overhauled and it now starts amazing. Before carb overhaul it would not start in cold weather without pre-heating the engine. Having a rear mounted battery compounded the problem due to lower cranking speeds.
