- In this video, we wrap up the installation of the external amplifier, sound processor and subwoofer in the 3rd Gen Tacoma Access Cab. I'll show you how to wire up the amplifier, sound processor and subwoofer - all without any wire cutting or splicing! We'll also do a cost breakdown of what this whole project cost us.

I myself was planning to do an install in my 2016 Tacoma double cab…so I bought the same Audiocontrol LCI-7 and was planning to get the same Taco Tunes wiring harness…. I decided to have it professionally installed…Stock head unit …Digital Design signal processor DSI-3…Focal Flax speakers…2 way for front doors(he made a custom mount to install the tweeter next to 6.5 speakers)and coaxial for rear…Arc Audio X2 1200.6 amplifier and 2 Arc Audio A10 shallow subwoofers…they actually installed the processor and amp under my driver seat…the only thing in view is the end of the amp(which is vented)…one thing I recommended is to add sound deadening material to the doors and rear of the cab…not only reduces road noise but eliminate rattling noises that a high powered system can produced…for a few dollars more I recommend the digital signal processor over the LC-7i…total control(crossover points and EQ)and was able to make use of the rear door speakers ….unlimited tuning to your personal preference…
Wow - really some good pointers here for sure. Ever since testing out that Stealthbox is my other car which just has an Alline 4v pre-lit to an amp, the sub sounded so much better than how it sounds in the Tacoma (poppy and doesn’t hit as hard). Either the LC7i is just bare bones or I need to do some serious adjusting.
Respect for this install and for the money you saved. Had my '17 double cab done professionally, which turned out great but the cost is ridiculous - depending on the application, an unloaded custom box can cost a grand. Like you said, you only live once. Great video man.
Stumbled upon your videos for installing the sub and amp. From one DIY'er to another, I'm appreciating your level of detail for the viewers and level of detail of install. Great work my man. Keep making videos. You're doing awesome!
Hello again. I read my first comments and I have no idea what I meant by the comment related to the word theater in the dash.
What I can tell you is that I went and bought 2 pieces of 1/4” ABS plastic today because I am going to use your examples to create my amp racks which I like you will install under both seats. I am installing 2 Rockford Fosgate Amps. The amp for my Subwoofer is going under the passenger seat. I like you purchased a Stealth sub enclosure which I will mount between the two jump seats.
Thank you for posting your videos because they gave me so much encouragement and direction with my project.
I totally appreciate your videos
Mark
This was a great video series to watch. I have a 23 TRD Sport in Lunar Rock as well, but mine is automatic double cab. Yours looks great btw.
I’ve been searching the internet for something like this in order to check out the wiring before doing any audio work. This was very thorough, detailed and super clean. Thank you for sharing this
I have the JBL upgrade in my 23 TRD OR, as for OEM integration. not much as of yet. Some places used a PAC audio for a '21 and claimed it worked. PAC audio says they have not tested a 23 and don't have support for the 23 if a problem arises.
On the factory JBL system it can be done the same way it was done on this Video. Do some digging online you will finde it
pretty nice clean installation you've got there bud.
and definitely you got your solid gears for a steal, win win!
if only we could hear how it sounds, but i'm absolutely sure that system now rocks>
Hey buddy how you doing, first of all congrats, you did a super clean wiring and installation, now my question is, would this work for me if I plan to add 3 amps, 1 equalizer, and 1 audio control epicenter?
Or I need a different one?
I’m planning on adding a pair of ds18 dash tweeters, a pair of JBL 6x9 speakers, a pair of JBL 6.5 speakers and a pair of massive mid range speakers, also a kicker 12” subwoofer, for the JBLs gonna be using one amp, another amp for the mid ranges, and another amp for the subwoofer, also the equalizer and the epicenter, that’s how I’m planning it
Aloha from Hawaii. Great job wiring everything up. You did a very professional job in my humble opinion. My initial question is what about the theaters in the dash. Did you change them too. Why are they not connected to the amp or switcher??? Or did I miss something?.
Thank you
Mark
I live in Chesterfield so when I get my Tacoma, I might bring it to you haha!
Can you add links to all the plug and play harnesses you used 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Great video series!
Might had missed what speakers you are using for your front other than that great install man, nothing like planning and the fun of putting everything together yourself !!
Well done!!
Thanks! Kicker CS series.
Can you tell me what the harness numbers are to put behind the factory radio
Great video. I have a 22 offroad in the same color. I also have that same amp. Have it mounted behind the back seats at the moment but want to put a sub box back there so need to relocate the amp under the seat. Do you have any issues lowerering the seat? The automatic seats lets to raise and lower it and I'm worried ill crush the amp if someone tries to lower the seat too far.
Thanks
Have not tried to lower the seat down much knowing the amp is there. But under the driver seat was the best option for the Access Cab as the jumper seats don't fold down.
Did you go inside the Lc7i and do anything ?
can you add the oem rear diff lock from trd off road to the trd sport and if so what is the part number. No person on youtube has ever said anything about it and they go for ARB air compressor lock configuration
That I’m not familiar with. Might want to check out TacomaWorld and see if someone has done that. If the parts aren’t too bad - I’d be interested in doing a swap like that.
@@randomrebuilds Thankyou and your videos are awesome
Any engine noise after installing all equipment?
@@bryanbroyles2472 no engine noise that I can hear. Just a clear stereo.
What diameter of wire loom did you use?
For the power wire or the speaker leads going into the dash?
@@randomrebuilds Both of you don’t mind
What lift and size tires
2" lift, 275/65/18 tire size.
I commend all the work and cleansiness. But i would have thrown the factory stereo right in the garbage. The Pioneer MVH-S522BS is like 100 bucks, it uses all of Pioneer's high volt outputs and high quality sound processing in a very small, affordable, lightweight package. It'd be less wiring(weight), more simple, and better sound quality.
Thanks. I just wanted to keep all the factory integration (backup camera, vehicle warnings, phone, Etc). It would eliminate the need for the sound processor as well.
@randomrebuilds6862 so my factory unit is integrated into the climate controls and I doubt they make a single din panel for it. So I have my pioneer in the center console, which kept my back up camera(which I never use, im 40yo and CDL). But now I have no more chimes and no more turn signal clicks, a hidden benefit of what I did.
@@randomrebuildsthere are plenty of radios on the market that retain all of that from sony, pioneer, stinger, alpine etc. the factory radio limits certain frequencies to the rear speakers and just does wierd soundstage things in the higher volume settings that you just cant account for with a sound processor to get the absolute best sound quality. i gave up on stock radio after a couple months and went aftermarket. very noticeable difference
