Lindsey Buckingham is one of the greatest guitar players of all time.
No doubt. The Top 5 guitarists who have influenced my style are, in no particular order:
1.Mark Knopfler
2. David Gilmour
3. Lindsey Buckingham
4. Just back
5.Buck Dharma
He uses a technique called Travis picking, which is usually used in acoustic folk music but he uses it in a rock setting. He plays a bassline on the lower strings with his thumb and then plays the melody on the higher strings with his fingers, meaning he's having to keep track of two different sets of timing at the same time. He's ridiculously good at it 😋
This is one of the rare versions of this song that is SO MUCH BETTER then the vinyl version.
This entire concert was a masterpiece! The ending with a full marching band will make your jaw drop!

There are some songs where Lindsey plays two and three parts simultaneously, plus he sings too. His dexterity is incredible. Check out "Big Love" from the same concert. If you just listen, you'll think it's three guitars and a vocalist, but no, it's just Lindsey.

The spotlight is squarely on the great Lindsey Buckingham and for good reason, amazing how he plays and sounds. A huge shout out to a legendary rhythm section in John McVie on bass and the outgoing Mick Fleetwood on drums, they have been great together since drumming for John Mayall in the 60s, then forming Fleetwood Mac in the late 60s. There are several eras of that great band, all are a bit different but all worth listening to. Try Hypnotized from when Bob Welch and Christine McVie fronted the band. Great song, Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Lindsey Buckingham is a rare talent. Self taught. Like most great guitarist when you hear a few notes you instantly know sound like the artist song I'm playing. Lindsey plays a lot of finger picking very hard on the nerves in your hands most have carpal tunnel. And many surgeries over the years. I had 2 myself I can't even play anymore without severe pain. But the greats like Lindsey has learned how to play without damaging there hands so much. Sorta like how a great singer has techniques not to harm there vocal chords. Lindsey Buckingham is one of my favorites. And so are you Maddie you see and hear things most people don't notice like Lindsey playing the bass line with the basset and playing lead at the same time ❤

No dear Maddie, Lindsey Buckingham is a "fingerpick" style player, meaning he doesn't use a guitar pick. When fingerpicking, the thumb plays the 2 bass strings. If you examine the close-up shots on Lindsey, you can see his thumb is muting the midrange strings while his ring finger and pinky play the high notes.
I loved the "telepathic" remark, lollll. That's why serious performers spend time rehearsing, ya gotta keep synchronized on stage.

There was a reason Mick Fleetwood needed to replace Lindsey Buckingham with two guitarists on the last tour.
Maddy I understand your confusion. John McVie, the Mac in Fleetwood Mac was locked in pretty tight with Lindsey. John and Mick Fleetwood (the drummer) have been doing that since 1968. For my money the most underrated rhythm section in music. Listen To "The Chain."

John McVie's bass work is excellent but subtle. The track recorded on a Fleetwood Mac song is the final bass. John says he needs to tailor the bass to fit the singing.
FWM has such a cool tribal undertone with John's bass playing.

Mic Fleetwood plays a lot of percussion drums which is more bass driven. He plays the skins hard and that is his signature sound. Another great rock band for my youth in the 70s.🥰

There are many types of drum sticks but to answer your question more specifically… there are traditional wood sticks and then wood sticks with nylon tips (the round things you described). These tips accentuate the cymbal sounds, especially on the hi-hat and ride cymbals, giving it a brighter sound… that can also cut more through all the other music going on.

I remember seeing them about 20 years ago and I'm 32 now. Even though stevie was obviously pretty old she still sounded the same as she did when she was young.

When people think of "Best Guitarists" people like Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Paige or Jimi Hendrix often come to mind. Nobody ever think of Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac but I'd easily put him in the top 10 of all time Guitarists. He does not use a pick like most guitarists do, he plays with his fingers.

Such a group of incredibly talented musicians. I believe that the drummer was the glue that held this band together though many changes and over many years.

I always thought that Lindsey Buckingham was any egotistical jackass, but this is definitely an impressive song and performance from him, and it's in my regular play rotation, and is frequently replayed 5 or 6 times before moving the the next song.

Lindsay plays his guitar without a pick, almost acoustic classical style by plucking the strings with all his fingertips, That is what probably threw you off. Vary rare trait rock guitarist have, the only other one that comes to mind quickly is Mark Knopfler from the band Dire Straits

From this same concert you need to react to the song "BIG LOVE" it is just Lindsay and a acoustic guitar and he does actuality play both lead and bass on one guitar and sings his AXX off it's unbelievable!! Maddy.. Fleetwood Mac is such an epic group with so many GREAT hits that transcends generations! Special bands have checked all the boxes to make their music everlasting.. this is one of those bands! If I may suggest a so from their early days.

If Buckingham was playing the bass strings on his guitar, they would be the top strings. Padding on the drumsticks give a more cushiony sound. Check out Silver Springs czcams.com/video/eDwi-8n054s/video.html from the same concert. 20 years after their breakup, Stevie Nicks is still angry, and it shows on that song, as she's firing laser eyes at Lindsey, bringing the song to a rousing conclusion.

There are all different kinds of drum sticks some with small tips and larger tips it just gives a different sound when hitting the drum head and sometimes the bass player plays the same chord as the guitar maybe that was the confusion anyhow excellent song and reaction later beautiful girl.❤️🤘😎

When Fleetwood Mac fired Lindsay Buckingham for money, they had to hire 2 guitarists to take the place of only one.
He is just playing with his fingers instead of a pick. The drumsticks are just nylon tip sticks. Pretty common.

As a band their history is bizarre and it is a wonder how they lasted so long considering they all hate(hated) each other but it never started that way, Lyndsey and Stevie having a huge fight and messy break up after the first album,.Christine cheating on John and Mick keeping the Columbian economy running,you would think that would be it all over but somehow Mick managed to get them all in the studio to do Rumours probably one of the greatest albums ever made and its all about them hating each other i mean Stevie just totally destroys Lyndsey with the chain and dreams so he writes go your own way to get back at her,Christine writes you make loving fun about her affair,its a damn masterpiece the whole album lol

That was awesome but to me the very best version of this song live is from their double album from 1980 I think it was from Richfield Coliseum I'm so afraid is 8 minutes and 33 seconds long it is a scorcher a smoker better than this version in my opinion
