the head gasket problem is happens to any engine at some specific point in the duty cycle of the engine. most of the time this happens by a head gasket defect or by a bad use of the engine

Francico.i totally agree with the diagnosis.a leaking resivoir,is one thing a blown radiator and hoses.combustition gases are entering the cooling system

I had many engines doing that. Some are bad cylinders heads, others liners, some bad air compresor..
Its one million miles on the clock!!! Any engine at that point with that many miles is bound to be problematic

With that test you can not condemn the head gasket other test must be perform like checking air compressor or egr system

I have 2008 volvo cummins ISX I did rebuild I January 2020 got new head reman was ok till march 2020
Coolant start despairing from overflow tank to minimum to light check engine I stop the problem was gon but water was on minimum side or below minimum add coolant and start driving after 10 min check engine
When shut of the engine water coms back up to just below max level on overflow tank
I started truck again and water gets sucked down to minimum again.
In June we replaced compressor and was good till now start doing again last week we replaced EGR cooler . from Toronto Canada to Miami I lost 3 gallons of water and is doing the same think with despairing water from overflow tank
No leak we can not find leak
I have to tell you that I did have the same problems before I rebuild the engine with sucking in water and coming back up but rebuild was reason because I sponed the bearings on the head camshaft bearings so the old head was replaced
So would be bad luck to have problem with this head
This mechanic can not find the problem so we keep replacing parts
