Hawaii called me after my divorce and I lived there 12 years. I loved every minute of it, met some great people, embraced all the cultures, was never sick a day, and want to cry when I see these videos with all that beauty that I miss so much. I only left because I knew I could never retire there and live very well, so when I reached retirement age I left. I still think it is the most beautiful place on this earth and life there is a little softer, a little sweeter than anywhere else I've ever lived.
Been there years ago. It was fun, interesting and a cultural experience I'll never forget. Will I ever go back? Probably not. Too many homeless, too costly, over crowded.
@Captain Germany ok..just like the director of the NAACP Spokane Wa chapter who fooled everybody and said she identifies as black but is actually white? So no that's not racist it's reality. Hawaiians have ancestral ties by family lineage and blood. Not just by moving to hawaii and calling yourself Hawaiian..smh
Woah, I was looking up things about Oahu and I clicked this video and realized I met you in Kauai when I was visiting from Ohio in October in kapaa on the beach!! Crazy. 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I understand where you're coming from . However everything happens for a reason. And if someone ends up moving to Hawaii and it works out for them, it was meant to be. Why can't we all be at peace with each other. At the end of the day we are all brothers and sisters coming from a supreme creator of all that exists.
Wow! It's funny how people get so defensive when talking about God when they don't even believe in one. It would be like me getting upset about someone talking about a unicorn. By the way, there is more proof of a creator than there not being one. For something to be created the has to be a creator. Logically, that is. 😀
+st85100 If they want to have their own private beliefs that it fine, but once they bring it into the public domain it can be challenged, if they make the assertion that there is an almighty creator then it can and often will be challenged, What is this proof? All you have said is that there needs to be a creator in order for their to be a creation, even though something which used to not be, can come into being from natural processes, Anything else?
It's Ya Boi Daniel Really! How can all matter in ther universe come into existence from natural causes, there is nothing not even natural causes. Unless you believe the universe is eternal but science doesn't believe that and shows there was a beginning. That takes more faith than anything I can think of. Now we know you have a great deal of faith so prove your faith... nothing created everything. Prove it.
Aloha Brother.. I know you posted this a while ago. But, me and my wife were just out there and I felt like the island was my home. It was just 4 days. I'm really considering moving there. Mahalo for the video and your insight.
This is SO VALUABLE! We hadn't heard until your video that Hawaii was islands! Next thing, tell us how the subway runs in Hawaii! If I am on the Oahu subway line, how do I transfer for Kauai? Choo choo!
People who move to Hawaii need to pass a "gets along well with others" test. Also, you should be mindful of limited resources. I moved away from home because watching the mistreatment of homeless Hawaiians was too much. I'm sharing the Aloha spirit from here.
I recently visited Maui and my fiancé and I just fell so madly in love with it. Beyond the amazing beauty and fresh food which is enough in itself, we felt such a sense of community and love. Both of us were heartbroken to have to leave. Now we are exploring visiting the big island as it’s more feasible to live there. When we were flying out we ran into a couple who had lived in Maui for a decade plus who said the island either pulls you in and accepts you as part of it or it will spit you back out to tell you it’s not for you. I can’t speak from experience to agree with that but it seems to be the case. I don’t know for sure that it will be for us but I do know the changes I felt inside when I visited and how my heart broke when I had to leave. As far as the locals go, once again I can’t speak for anywhere aside from Maui, but I feel they are similar to the island in that they feel your energy and will either take you in or reject you. Also respect and kindness go a long way….but that should also be the standard for how you everyone which doesn’t seem to be the case for a lot of people.
Most people including myself probably thought you were just trying to keep us away. I kept listening and that’s not what you did. Though you didn’t have many things to say positive you did have positive things to say. Your a good person just trying to help people from making a mistake brother thank you. I plan to move to MAUI very soon. I’m retiring from the FD and HI has been calling me since I was a child. I was MAUI’d in 2013 but unfortunately I won’t be bringing her with me. She is from Brazil and we are about to go our separate ways. When we left she said she would never move there because it’s too far from her home and everything else. Too bad for her... We were MAUI’d in 2013. I will be headed that way in two years. Thank you brother Mahalo.
I’m hoping to meet many people that can show me the way of life there including the Hawaiians that deserve my respect. I know it will take time and I am prepared to earn my way. Thank you again.
For all of you who are confused about the contextualization of what he is saying please understand that this is a topic that you obviously don't know about so dont be disrespectful try to understand.
I'm half considering showing up there because I have a friend who alreadyand I'm currently lost in my life otherwise so time for an adventure haven't flipped enough coins yet to decide
Being called to a place doesn't have to mean for the rest of your life. They may be called for only a short while or to learn / experience a specific thing, and then move forward with their lives somewhere else.
That’s our thinking. Once our home here is paid off and we can rent it out for income along with my wife retiring from teaching as income, we’re thinking of EXPERIENCING Hawaii for a few years, both of us having jobs there. We’ll see.
Ted Sullivan it’s not because his a bum. I moved here with my twins and I’m military. I know exactly what he mean. Have you ever been to Hawaii? If you have then you know he’s speaking facts.
@@sparklejan3 I lived in Maui for a year. The only facts he speaks are the ones he pulls from his ass. That is all you hear about when you're in Maui. The Island has healing powers. Tread lightly on this sacred land. If Maui is sacred land so is everywhere else in the world. They claim to hate Haoles, and Japanese but need their money to live off of, or they would die, and I actually saw some hippie guy bow to some ugly ass bum cause he claimed to be a native. What a complete jerkoff does that. When I was disrespected I held my ground beat the shit out of that "Local" and held him in a ear naked choke till Maui PD showed up. Turned out the guy has like 4 warrants for robbing tourists. And in most cases they're not actually native Hawaiians. They are from other Islands in the South Pacific, and just settled in Hawaii, because of the American money. Anyone that's even thinking about visiting just know Hawaii is apart of the United States. Do whatever is allowed in our constitution. Yes, Hawaii moves at a slower pace, but you're still under the constitution not some bum in a beach chair. I lived in Maui Meadows near South Kihei. Makena was a nice beach. Little beach was a freak show of leftover hippies that are living off trust funds. Theres always this main conflict where the actual Hawaiian leaders want more development, but the white hippies just hug the trees, so nothing gets done. Maui overall I would rate as a D- for vacation spots. I'm from Florida I've been all over the Carribean, and South America, Mexico. Go to Grand Cayman, or the virgin islands. Trust me you'll be happier at the end of the day, and you wont have to listen to a beach bum, and all his bull shit. If you decide to go the food sucks you think being on a Island there would be good seafood wrong, the people are on the next level of socialist filth, and the homeless are everywhere. Theres some truth for you. I was in the Marines Medically retired after my last tour in Iraq. Moved to Maui to clear my head worst move I've ever made. Should have just gone back to Japan. The Japanese are friendly awesome people with a true kick ass culture. Theres barely any crime there. I was stationed there for 2 years loved every second of it. Hiroshima, Osaka, and Tokyo were the best days of my life would love to go back.
My husband was born and raised in Hawaii and we met in NC I have always wanted to move there and he wants to go back but he says we have to wait because it's so expensive
Start spreading the idea of a LVT and rent prices, and billionaires owning all the land will quickly dissipate. Not without resistance, but it'll work. Problem is most people have never heard of an LVT, and people with 💰 want to keep it that way.
heres another thing i havent heard about Hawaii....you can (I did) get rock fever or is it Island fever...I could wait to get off the island...this was 1975....you have what a 100 mile long island maybe 25 miles width...its not like the coast here in California where you can get on the road and go up north or two hours outside of LA....
I love long board surfing Waikiki and the chilled locals with their island style and smiles. That’s why I love the place. I miss the old international market in Waikiki that was a special/magical place. I understand it’s now been replaced by high end stores, boo. I recently went to Costa Rica, and that is a cool place for chilled people. Just be ready to eat rice, beans and chicken every day which is fine with me. I love Kona coffee, the Costa Rica coffee is also primo!
He is 100% right! You have to adapt to Island life, weather, expenses, & Hawaian culture! You also have to be respectful to the locals! This is where you will be living now and not just on a vacation! Having plenty of money, will definitely make your transition a lot easier, to say the least! I plan on moving to one of the islands within 2-4 years and will leave my “City Life” attitude/mentality behind, where it belongs! See you at one point, Aloha!!! ;)
If I visited and went shopping in Honolulu, could I wave my hand and say "Excuse me, I need a Hawaiian boy to carry my groceries!" while holding up a quarter.... would that be okay?...... tehehe
Not only that,, what do other peoples lands have that Europe doesn't have??? They have beaches and palm trees off the coast of their continent too.....this is more of a power trip of taking over the whole earth period.
American Nacirema, Please, please, please, for all that is Holy.........please tell me what "It's more like what the people mostly respects about Hawaii". This so called, special, God given, "respect" you speak of........how is it any different from any where else on the Planet Earth? Have you ever left the islands for more than a week in your life?
wondered why there was so many dislikes and then it made sense lol. you are completely right and they can stay mad about it. mainlanders aka yt people think they own everything and hawaiian locals are going to remind you that you do not and you need to be respectful. 🤷🏽♀️

Loved your honest, fair-minded video. Just because a place is beautiful and you perhaps love to vacation there does not make it right for you as a permanent home- moving to such a different environment requires real thought, understanding and a commitment to assimilate with the consciousness/reality of that place. what about if you can't stay away from the ocean like you could have no money and no food but so long as you hear the waves crashing you've got a smile on your face like you're the richest man on earth or something
Cool that you mention coconuts I actually take a lot of an eat a lot of coconuts and coconut due to the fact that they're just so good since I started that I heal about three times faster than before I on a coconut dietary regimen coconuts are a god food
Damn, its like he saw that the island was getting “populated” or whatever and said “what could I do to spook everyone in not living here?” “Oh I know...
Yes its definately a hard transition , I did it, I didn't want to move here it was an energetic pull, felt maybe there was something I needed to learn....and I did....aloha

Right. I was born and raised here and have to say that I agree. Behind the paradise and the beautiful palm trees, there lies a shithole that is riddled with homeless people, and obnoxious tourists.
Aloha, When I first saw your post, I thought that it was just another rant. I was wrong. What you say here has value and resonance. The islands are a special and unique place. Special people are drawn to Hawai"i. I am considering moving to the islands, and I am spending a fair amount of time researching my move. By way of background, my grandfather (father's father) lived in on the Big Island (Paradise Park) many years ago (1960s to his death in 1984). My father and I traveled to Hilo to attend to his affairs in 1984 and I have never felt the same way about a place since. Many things have intervened in my life since those days (school, profession, wife, kids, college for them...the usual), but I have never forgotten how my father and I spent that time together, and how we committed my grandfather's ashes to the magnificent Pacific waves after his services. As an African-American man, I am no stranger to the notion of "stolen" land or labor, and I am more than sympathetic regarding grievances related to American injustice meted out to "perceived lessors." In any event, I just wanted you to know that your words and ideas expressed were well-taken and had meaning.
much respect to guys like you that respect our culture and our movement back towards our kingdom there is guys out there that come here thinking well this is the United states and they'll do whatever they want lmfao to those you'll find out the hard way I've seen blood spilled bad because of that attitude locals will spin you in the asphalt and no cops insight. out here hand to hand combat is huge since guns are a pain in rear and hard to obtain . i would say around 65% of our native people start training some type of self defense at a very young age around 3 years old by the time they hit 16 they are knocking out guys standing at 6ft we live by a motive the bigger they are the harder they fall and knocking out someone 3 times the size is like a trophy one of the reasons is if we loose a fight we will go home and get stomped by family members then 40% chance they'll go out find you and they all will get a peice of you and most times the elders will match your size they hit harder as well like this man said there is high tensions in the air the elders carry way more hate some of them do hunt so sometimes their packing hollow points to meet your needs if you want to go that route my advice come visit then leave there's better places on earth without the hate.
I am a 64 year old with a cat named Shiro. I am praying about moving to Hawaii. I live poor in Hershey, PA and I have a section 8 voucher and can live in Hawaii. I have watched films about the Kingdom and I have much respect and compassion about what I watched. I love the outdoors and would enjoy the land. I would definitely respect the locals. I am no threat to anyone or their land. I have a beautiful soul and live in peace. I can go barefoot and wear shoes inside too. My niece was married there, my family would visit me. I have a handicap and would be close to home most of the time. I would need the bus to get around. Just realize I never had anything to do with negative actions of the people of the Kingdom. I would just like to embrace and enjoy paradise. God BLess and maybe one day I will be there.
Hawaii is a shithole the ppl are very envious I went for vacation and its overrated asf its 20x better here in Florida heck even California is better then Hawaii smelly place
Stolen land arguments are emotional bs unless you have a damn solution, and no one ever does. Live in reality. In every moment, we are exactly where we are meant to be.
Brina Healy exactly... people think they own things but like truth is you don’t. Everything has been “stolen” anyways.. nothing physical matters, you can’t take anything with you when you die. All you can take is your spirit. You don’t own anything

Where do you live now?
@@kallejahrollins4668 I’m wondering the same.
Where do you live now?
Where do you live now? Ha??!

Lava On Kauai? Try floods. lol
I'm inspired by your clip. I'm moving to Hawaii.........
hahahaa
well did you move

@Athens Greece yea ok
Been there years ago. It was fun, interesting and a cultural experience I'll never forget. Will I ever go back? Probably not. Too many homeless, too costly, over crowded.
im Hawaiian and we Hawaiians know how to be respectful you don't have to be "called" to live here :))))
Usernam is rad
Some Hawaiians don't respect anybody.
Sounds like you are trying to get a rich Haole. ;-)
I just want to move here to learn about the culture and pursue marine biology and marine animals. I think this might be the place for me
I live on Oahu, and I can tell u....there are lots of people like him here, they call themselves Hawaiians, but they're all 80%white
Hawai’i- “your average haole”
Hahaha
hahahaahaa
Captain Germany Your nationality is where you were born
Thank you I needed to hear this
Woah, I was looking up things about Oahu and I clicked this video and realized I met you in Kauai when I was visiting from Ohio in October in kapaa on the beach!! Crazy. 🤙🏻🤙🏻

Quentin Kaalekahi your not poor if you can't move to Hawaii I think your brain dead
@@aptknifethrowerguy8342 It might be too band but we libs are not going anywhere.
I understand where you're coming from . However everything happens for a reason. And if someone ends up moving to Hawaii and it works out for them, it was meant to be. Why can't we all be at peace with each other. At the end of the day we are all brothers and sisters coming from a supreme creator of all that exists.
get a net
It was all good until you mentioned the supreme creator, unless you can prove him, don't mention him here,
Wow! It's funny how people get so defensive when talking about God when they don't even believe in one. It would be like me getting upset about someone talking about a unicorn.
By the way, there is more proof of a creator than there not being one. For something to be created the has to be a creator. Logically, that is. 😀
+st85100 If they want to have their own private beliefs that it fine, but once they bring it into the public domain it can be challenged, if they make the assertion that there is an almighty creator then it can and often will be challenged,
What is this proof? All you have said is that there needs to be a creator in order for their to be a creation, even though something which used to not be, can come into being from natural processes,
Anything else?
It's Ya Boi Daniel Really! How can all matter in ther universe come into existence from natural causes, there is nothing not even natural causes. Unless you believe the universe is eternal but science doesn't believe that and shows there was a beginning. That takes more faith than anything I can think of. Now we know you have a great deal of faith so prove your faith... nothing created everything. Prove it.
Aloha Brother.. I know you posted this a while ago. But, me and my wife were just out there and I felt like the island was my home. It was just 4 days. I'm really considering moving there. Mahalo for the video and your insight.
thank you Charlie
This is SO VALUABLE! We hadn't heard until your video that Hawaii was islands! Next thing, tell us how the subway runs in Hawaii! If I am on the Oahu subway line, how do I transfer for Kauai? Choo choo!
People who move to Hawaii need to pass a "gets along well with others" test. Also, you should be mindful of limited resources. I moved away from home because watching the mistreatment of homeless Hawaiians was too much. I'm sharing the Aloha spirit from here.
Public announcement, dont do drugs
For special people that belong here? If I said that about my country I’d be considered racist
I live in Hawaii and it's very racist. Hawaii is full of meth and prostitution
He's saying no immigrants are welcome.
For all of you who are confused about the contextualization of what he is saying please understand that this is a topic that you obviously don't know about so dont be disrespectful try to understand.
That guy doesn't not look like a blood islander, so he shouldn't have gone there (or his parents).
BigAl444 Or parents parents, or their parents, or those parents. Since my family has been here since 1835 in Koloa.
So Hawaii is an island, besides that it's like everywhere else - Got it ~
I'm half considering showing up there because I have a friend who alreadyand I'm currently lost in my life otherwise so time for an adventure haven't flipped enough coins yet to decide
Wow! Exactly the same In Colorado!
We’ll see.
Dude comes across negative af. 🤦♂️
Well said Ryan.
The guy is a bum.
I don't think he comes across as negative. He comes across as forewarning. He just didn't say what you wanted him to say, man.
Thanks for the heads up...bring all my homies to live on Kauai...see u soon bro
My husband was born and raised in Hawaii and we met in NC I have always wanted to move there and he wants to go back but he says we have to wait because it's so expensive
Don’t move there u will not belong
Its too damn expensive on Kauai. Kauai is for billionaires and trust fund babies. Kauai is also waaaaay too small.
Yep, Mark Zuckerberg has a 700 acre "Villa" on the island of Kauai. The "locals" love the stone wall around the property.
Hence, that exactly the point of the vid.
Start spreading the idea of a LVT and rent prices, and billionaires owning all the land will quickly dissipate. Not without resistance, but it'll work. Problem is most people have never heard of an LVT, and people with 💰 want to keep it that way.
Kauai born and raised !!!! 🙏

heres another thing i havent heard about Hawaii....you can (I did) get rock fever or is it Island fever...I could wait to get off the island...this was 1975....you have what a 100 mile long island maybe 25 miles width...its not like the coast here in California where you can get on the road and go up north or two hours outside of LA....
noelle drew was on maui 10 fuckin straight years...could not wait to get off that racist fuckin rock
yes, me too. same time. worst racism i 've ever witnessed. it may be beautiful but ........
Great video. Thank you.
thank you Susan!
See you at one point, Aloha!!! ;)
If I visited and went shopping in Honolulu, could I wave my hand and say "Excuse me, I need a Hawaiian boy to carry my groceries!" while holding up a quarter.... would that be okay?...... tehehe

your pisshead brother should have spent the day on the westside of Oahu picking fights, guaranteed excitement I assure you. Fuck you and him
wondered why there was so many dislikes and then it made sense lol. you are completely right and they can stay mad about it. mainlanders aka yt people think they own everything and hawaiian locals are going to remind you that you do not and you need to be respectful. 🤷🏽♀️

I thought about it years ago, and stayed in Canada. I still like to dream, though. I watch a lot of Hawaii videos, and feel like I live there! 😊

Loved your honest, fair-minded video. Just because a place is beautiful and you perhaps love to vacation there does not make it right for you as a permanent home- moving to such a different environment requires real thought, understanding and a commitment to assimilate with the consciousness/reality of that place. Everything you said is spot on in line with what I've been understanding about Hawaii. I love that you said maybe its not for you, maybe it is. I don't detect any negativity, h=just good true info that some of your readers don't want to hear. Fear-based reactions. No low-life you: conscious, aware, honest. Thank you

Aloha,
When I first saw your post, I thought that it was just another rant.
