In 1933 the SS put the Concentration Camp Dachau into operation. The first prisoners were those who acted against the Nazis, followed by the racially persecuted. Subsequently, other camps such as Sachsenhausen and Buchenwald emerged. After the Nazi invasion of Poland, the concentration camp system expanded across occupied countries. Victims were collected in local prisons and sent to deportation camps. Afterwards they were deported to concentration camps, ghettos, and extermination camps. There were 24 main concentration camps with over 1,000 satellite camps. Many of these places are now memorial sites.
The first memorials were erected at the request of survivors and their committees. Today, these memorials serve to acknowledge the suffering of the victims and educate visitors about the greatest crimes against humanity: the genocide of Polish and Soviet civilians, Gypsies, and European Jews known as the Holocaust. Other names for it include Shoah in Hebrew and Porajmos in Romanes which is the language of the Sinti and Roma (Gypsies).
We have photographed over 38 memorial sites in Israel, France, Poland, and Germany. Out of more than 60,000 photos, we have created an exhibition with over 70 exhibits accompanied by legends and information boards. From the educational booklet accompanying the exhibition, we aim to create a book intended for international use in schools and other educational institutions.
We are seeking new exhibition venues such as Holocaust Memorials, museums, galleries, universities and so on.
The book requires funding for the media editing and to enable the Dokumentation of other memorials
such as Mauthausen, Majdanek and Theresienstadt with the camera.
    Support our educational remembrance project.
