    What I find interesting about a similar model I had (perhaps an earlier or later version?) is that it was also released in the beginning of the 2010s, when I had just started high school. At that time-and even still to this day-I’ve only played games for fun: success or failure, excellent or mediocre. This early attempt to bring the classics in their original, unabridged form by AtGames to the 21st century A.D. was certainly no exception, and of course, I overlooked the transgressions they made to the console itself such as the sound being on the “wrong” pitch (which would funnily enough grow on me much later on down the line) and the jumbled graphics on the video screen. If anything, not being able to notice the individual pixels was more of a blessing than a curse.
    I was just focused on finally ensuring Eggman wouldn’t get away for once, even if it meant missing out on the Chaos Emeralds, and then you had the arcade classics such as Chess and Hexagonos, a treat for something designed to be superior over the SNES back in the day. Even the games that involved motion controls such as Sports and even fishing-of all games, although weren’t at the level of the Nintendo Wii’s, still had the basics down pat-and might have even served as an even better successor to SEGA’s Dreamcast under the right circumstances. I am of course talking about its ultimate power: the SD slot.
    And it even goes down to backwards-compatibility with the Master System with the use of a Micro SD and a modified standard SD adapter, and second-party developers similar to Limited Run Games, who either as an individual or a large company (even TOSE of all bodies is welcome!) could develop new games for the Genesis that also works with the palm-sized PnP (for obvious reasons), some of which SEGA themselves could’ve never dreamed would ever be possible to do, and thus could very well learn from these same people. That “knockoff” clone of the SEGA Genesis was one of the best gifts I had ever received for my birthday when 2011 finally rolled around, and I’ve since exchanged it for a better model and much more of their stuff. Thanks, AtGames! ;-D

      Not to mention that at 2:44 Green Hill’s theme sounds like it could be a “morning” remix, like literally what it’d sound like in the morning, with the sun rising in the east (to the right of the screen). Looking back on it, it sounds refreshing, almost like a fresh beginning after a long day/night at a Smash Tournament.

    That was great, and really funny.
    The emulation on that thing looks atrocious, and I've heard about the low quality of At Games Sega consoles before on Game Sack but not for this specific model which I've never seen before. Despite looking cool, I guess the curse continues no matter what they do... This is officially licensed by Sega, or at least I THINK it is since they licensed out other Genesis mini's to them and as much as I love Sega they gotta get their head out of their asses when it comes to quality control over the content they license out. Like for real, nobody wants a Genesis for crappy Tennis and Bowling games and nobody asked for motion control on that console.
    Great video dude, this one made me laugh! Keep up the good work!

    The format of this feels like an old AVGN video lol, not bad. The thing with the video output is interesting, it seems to either be emulating a composite output, or literally using the original Genesis output, which has a few advantages in fact, mainly smoothing out the pixels a bit, but also creating color blend effects from dithering in graphics, which was actually the intention.

      I would personally say it’s closer to Irate Gamer content, where it tends to gravitate more towards a general audience than adults-only. ^_^

    I had a similar Atgames console (no motion controls though) and even as a child I thought it sucked. I just ended up buying a Genesis Model 2 second-hand and never looked back.
    Blame that DMC RedKid 2500 SoC on these AtGames units for the heinous sound quality (Turns out it's not emulation, just a horrible System on a Chip with clock speeds for the YM2612 sound chips set WAY OFF!). Too bad the folks at AtGames were too deaf to hear how mangled the games were... or maybe they just didn't give two shits. I believe both tbh.
    You also can't play Sonic 3 or Phantasy Star 4 properly on these due to lack of SRAM handling. All the more reason to avoid!

    Let's face it, all these Sega Genesis wannabes made by AtGames/LJN/whatever are as phony as a three-dollar bill... and yes, I do realize that calling them Chinese bootlegs would be unfair to Chinese bootlegs!

      I remember owning this in 2010 , the only negative was the sound and sh*tty controllers. I don't know why they didn't have a 6 button Genesis controller 😕. The SD card was the only positive here .

    • @FrankieSonic20
      @FrankieSonic20 Před 7 dny

      @@joezar33 True, but however, I seen something called Neto Loader for the thing. It still loads Genesis games, but with that loader, it fixes the sound.

  • @droiduseruserdroid1731

    The weird thing is that there are Genesis emulators that run on your phone that are 100 times better than the Atgames. Why couldn't they have licensed one of those?
