5:48-5:52 - There IS automatch in "Play Go"
24:44-24:46 - There IS an automatch feature in the home menu
Just the video I need right now. Thank you.
For new players, I would suggest trying all of them yourself and decide which suits you the best. Each server has its unique playing style in general, say, tygem players have good fighting spirit, igs players are more inclined to proper moves. OGS and KGS have more Western players so you can chat with them in English if you want. Overall I've chosen Fox because of its huge number of players (from top pros to total beginners) so you can always get a quick game within seconds.
To use Fox on macOS I recommend to try CrossOver (a commercial Wine wrapper essentially) if one does not want to get into manual Wine configuration and setup. It works a lot better than running it in a VM for me. Though, I have an old MacBookPro from 2015. On newer Macs I imagine it to run better in a VM.
Slightly more accurate KGS Facts --
KGS's main positive features are the teaching game and demonstration ability.
The ShinKGS no longer requires installing Java (it is browser based, like OGS).
KGS does have Automatch
The ShinKGS does not seem to support teaching games when people are logged on through the browser.
Thanks for facts. Mentioned teaching game and demonstration. ShinKGS has other bugs such as demonstration room control and accessing variations - I mentioned browser based in beta at beginning. Will add automatch.
@@NYIGGo Yeah, that was poor comment order on my part: Clarification -- The best features (imo) are not currently supported by the ShinKGS browser client
Generation Hikaru no Go. I've met so many brilliant players online. KGS was in its prime during the 2000s and the early 2000s. Lee Seedol loss and no media to push the sport have put this game way behind where it should be. Nonetheless! It is responsible for creating brilliant people. We owe a lot to the game of go.
Tygem's "pay to cheat" kills the server
What do you mean?
@@redapple1683 the chinese and korean sever can use tygem points to use ai during an active game.
Anybody can just use a program running on thier PC to reply to moves without paying for a subscription to tygem..That *cheat* feature is just a money grab. This reason alone is why in-person go clubs still haven't become utterly obsolete. I love sandbagging there just to crush overly aggressive players. Trust me they deserve it....lol
wtf ? kgs has a automatch in play menu
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have a Fox account but I can't remember my password. Fox provides no opportunity for password reset.
I'm not certain that the MacOS video made by Ryan to play on Foxy Server still works for latest MacOS Big Sur. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.
I recommend to try a free VM first, like VirtualBox for instance. If the performance is sufficient then that's the cheapest solution. For my old MacBookPro Fox on a VM was too laggy. In these case I recommend to try out CrossOver, a Wine wrapper essentially. There the Fox client runs a lot better than on my old Mac. Though CrossOver is a commercial app.
unfortunately it no longer works
@@NYIGGo Thank you, Ryan. Ugh! I hate to buy a Windoze computer just to play these servers and use some of the available AI, but it crosses my mind. Then I lay down and the notion passes. lol Thank you.
CGS looks cool but hardly anybody plays there, couldn't get a match in like an hour of waiting
You couldn't find sum won to play? That's a shame.
·sev· I think sum won isn't amused
You must be a high dan players because there are plenty of kyu players, be it ddk or sdk
I don't have a PC. Are there any mobile apps?
OGS (browser) & Pandanet (app)
Ogs on browser, pandanet, Tygem, wbaduk have free apps. Kgs on browser or with a non free app. Fox has an app but it isn't available on appstores
Fox app is not available on the playstore and you need a Weibo account to log in. This is quite annoying... I've been playing on Fox last summer on my mobile but I won't do it the next one. Fox is the only server not decently supported on western mobiles. Moreover you need some basic knowledge of chinese and you have to be prepared to lose games because of disconnection... I really wish Tencent ports Fox on playstores
there is for android (i have it) but it's not that simple
1. you have to download WeChat and scan the QrCode on the website fxwq.com
2. then install the .apk and run the app (and try to click on the good buttons, I believe I always click left to accept what they say but I don't understand chinese.. ^^')
3. play :p
In the video description, it has a link to the video with Ryan and Harrison Dow on how to download Fox Go Server on Windows and Linux. Check it out
Mentioning KGS feels like a joke :)
Really? It is like the only server I play on (ok, I've played like 1-2 games on ogs), I really like it, but since I'm 2-3k on kgs maybe it is easier for me to find a game in reasonable time.
