I think that's the struggle of many musicians trying to make something original. Play a chord and realize it sounds familiar and next thing you know you're playing that song, or trying to figure out the next chords for that song, lol...
I spent years trying to figure out a melody that I put into a song I composed. I knew it was something that already existed, but couldn't figure out what. Sarias Song. I never played Ocarina of Time, but I had a friend who did. It must have entered my brain some time back then.
I did the same thing recently and I knew there was something familiar about it and it drove me crazy for about a week. It was Leaving on a Jetplane.
Remember when Deadmau5 accidentally recreated Darude: Sandstorm while trying to mix new music on livestream? That was funny.

It's almost impossible to write something completely original nowadays and have it sound good - at this point, the best way to make a good, relatively original song, is to take inspiration from many different works, put them together and spin it a little yourself before improvising on it with something like lyrics.

Yeah but even 9 Inch Nails themselves said that Johnny Cash made that song his own.
So let's just forget they ever fucken wrote it then huh? Just because someone's good with someone else's version of their work doesn't mean you don't credit the original author. Not to mention that if were talking about pure musical talent, Nine Inch Nails is clearly superior to the Johnny Cash version of the song.

The fact that the teacher came back multiple times even though he says “I’m out” means that’s teacher actually thought he had potential… Also the teacher comepletely ignored how good Daniel played all he saw was “not original”
The funny thing about music is that originality isn't king. It's the associations and relations to other music that makes music fun.
This series just released a fourth part, and there's a kind of spinoff part for "if songs had sequels" that you could include in the next combination! I just found him and have been watching his videos a ton! He's so funny! His micro-songs are the absolute best!
Yeah, I did even know the 4th part came out. I'll try to get it out soon.

Its so true though, the amount of songs that use samples plus artists that have been sued due to copyright is crazy. If I could write music I would always be worried that I would be copying a song unknowingly, it's like that father Ted episode where they write a song for the eurovision song contest then while they are in the lift they hear a song melody which they realise the song they wrote already exists just with different lyrics 😂😂 man I love that episode

Cmon dude, all he does is sit there laughing at the video. He adds nothing too it, which is the point of a reaction video. It's a cheap way of getting views by praying on the popularity of other people
