@outlander180 1. If you don't know: It's the hardest or at least one of the hardest parts of the Leogang Worlcup track. It was raining that day. 2. I never said that I'm a good rider. I don't like this part. It's at the bottom, where I'm usually already exhausted. I ride it a couple of times every year. Usually not very safe, but I remember only two crashes the last years there. 3. There are many talented you riders. But usually those who can ride do not need to be gobby.
No, it's the GoPro Camera. I don't know what it is. But recently I read that one knob of the camera is not that thight in the housing and this makes this sound. I should repair this.
@outlander180 Have you ever been on a real downhill track? There are parts where you only go 10 km/h. There are (national) downhill races with average speeds of less than 30 km/h for most of the participants. You are right - often you are more safe going faster (later this year I rode this part faster with jumping), but as I said, this is a really challenging part and much steeper than it looks on the video. By the way: Search for "Bikepark Leogang - Downhill Track by downhill-rangers"
@FedExItlol Not really. I think when I reached the second step I saw that my front wheel will land too much on the right where it will slide to the center and I will go over the handlebar, which is not that good here, because it's quite steep. So I think I decided to go of the bike at the back and lean to the right side where I would not fall so far.
@GreatestTop No, nobody was behind me. I think that when I jumped down the second step I realised that my front wheel will land on somewhere where it will slide away, so I tried to go of the bike at the rear and move to the right. So I will fall more safely instead of when going over the bars. As it is very steep there it looks like the bike got speeded up.
@Varaxis It surely flew away so fast because of the steep. I think I saw or felt that my front tire landed somewhere very aslant after riding over the step. So I tried to go from the bike at the back to avoid flying over the bar.
It's a curious video, not exactly funny for who's watching on YT, but more of a curious one because of the 2nd bike went straight to the one that was already there ! From a Portuguese downhiller...
@RubiaLez see the discussion with outlander180. I know it's easier if you go faster, but you have to have the skills to get the corner after the three steps. And that's really not that easy. Especially not at the end of they day after a thunderstorm. Btw: This is the hardest (most technical) part of the worldcup downhill track in Leogang.
The cool thing with DH is that when most would say "fucking shit that's the worst place you could ever ride a bike!", a downhiller just says "bet I can ride it faster than you"
@outlander180 Later that year I rode it faster - not riding the steps, but jumping them. It felt easier. But it was dry and I was fitter that day. The time when I filmed the video in the wet I would have crashed if I went faster. Come to Leogang and see for yourself.
@pyro21601 It's probably the hardest section of the worldcup track in Leogang. I always feared it a bit - also because it's at the bottom where I'm already done. But it was my first crash on this section and meanwhile I ride it a bit faster by jumping the steps. Maybe for 2011 this wont be part of the world cup track or it will be rebuilt.
@outlander180 Even if you go fast on this section (and you are no Worldcup Pro) you are relatively slow where the damping is not really important. The rear rebound should not be to fast. And most important is, that the fork does not go through the travel, so (low speed) compression shouldn't be to low. Many pro rider have changed their setup riding a higher front just for this section.
@outlander180 Don't talk about a section you have never seen in real life. Of course there are many rider much faster than me. The problem is that you land on wet roots where you can't slow down after you have passed the first of three steps. And right after the 3. you have to be in the right position for the berm at the bottom. This was at the end of the day, just after a thunderstorm. It's the bottom of the track. If I drove faster at this run I most propably would have crashed at the bottom.
Quite a hard course. From the looks of things, you weren't actually going quickly enough. That looks like one of the courses that you physically have to "commit" to; if you don't go quick enough over some of the big stuff then it becomes harder to keep the bike moving and under control. Although tbh I doubt that I could do that course myself... XD
@DownhillRangers Nonsense? Ask any PROFESSIONAL rider whether suspension is more active at low or high speeds, and they will say high. Not only that, but things such as four bar linkage and pro-pedal are designed to reduce low resonance compressions - better known as pedaling. As a side effect of this, low speed bumps will not activate bike suspension. And you say you had to hold the brakes on - so you could go faster without effort. Not just that, it would be like 8% chance over a 5%.
@DownhillRangers And yeah, have to say, your other stacks were more like it! That faceplant into a tree.... owch..... that would go through my little skid lid and destroy my whole head.
@DownhillRangers Hey, by that I don't specifically mean you, but yes, I rode the bull run at Chicksands bike park on a 17kg hardtail with rubbish forks and yes, I agree, there are some parts you should ride slowly, such as rock gardens. But riding that area of that track on a full suss d/h bike at that speed is just plain stupid. Your suspension, if set up correctly, should not move for low resonance bumps. So going slowly means it wont activate. Ride the bike, don't drag it.
@outlander180 Better to crash with a 5% chance with low speed, than with 90% at high speed. I already saw so many people crashing here. With low speed, with high speed, on different lines... I was already tired after a couple of runs. I could not go faster at this run. I do not know where you have this nonsense that a bike works better when you go faster. It's a matter of setup. Some sections of tracks are really easier if you go faster, but you have to have the skill and confidence to do that!
From the video it seems like someone crashed into you from behind. If this was the case than it's entirely his fault since he should maintain a safe distance. You know like a 2 second rule.
@gavra98 You have seen the video. For you it's not funny. But we could not stop laughing after we crashed almost at the same time and I "parked" my bike right on the one of my friend.
No issues with assembly for me czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" - 5'9".
@DownhillRangers
Danke ! Thanks !
@M2OxFREESTYLE4E
It's in Leogang, Austria. The track where a Worldcup Downhill took place this year.

In Leogang, Salzburg, Österreich. Das ist ein Teil auf der Weltcup-Strecke. Nächstes Jahr ist dort Ende Anfang September die Mountainbike WM.
No, it's the GoPro Camera. I don't know what it is. But recently I read that one knob of the camera is not that thight in the housing and this makes this sound. I should repair this.
@DownhillRangers
danke!
At least the cameras not shaking lol .. that track looks really fun too
Yes, the knocking sound has gone with the GoPro HD Hero 3. As this Video is from 2010 I assume it's a HD Hero 1.

Hey, I am always wonder what makes this knocking sound during ride? Can her it very often from 0:35 for example. Shock absorber?
@outlander180

Hey nice vid.
All you need to do to prevent the go pro making that annoying noice is just tighten it stronger.

hay
@maxnacho188
You're right. I wasn't fast. But it's quite steep there.
Würde mich über ein Feedback freuen. :)
@blu4able
the stomach ... because we couldn't stop laughing ;)
no injuries at all.
Did the bike fly because it's steep and gravity pulled it? It's hard to tell if it was that or your hands slipped and you legs kicked the bike out.
@outlander180

I see, we have a different sense of humor. But maybe you will cry if your relatively new 5000 Euro downhill bikes crash into each other
Lol his bike lands on top of his mates bike, double wipeout on the same section
@DownhillRangers oh..okay..:D
New attack kind: bike-kick:D
