I grew up in Ipswich Mass. We know a little bit about clams..... i cant believe Leroy cut off the neck or the snout as he called it and threw it away! We just peel off the outer black skin and it leaves a nice handle for dipping in melted butter and tastes fine.

At Wells Beach in 1968, my brothers and I looked for bubbles coming from the sand after a wave went out, we would then immediately dig with our hands and would get a clam. We filled a large pot to contribute to the lobster feast which the adults provided, we did not know then that it was illegal to do so but there's more than one way to get clams.

Geez, talk about likable people! These are the true Mainers that I love to meet when I’m lucky enough to be in Maine.

Exactly . How can’t you just not like these earnest, honest, charming and funny people. I’m from oyster bay and clam every summer . I used to help run the Town Hatchery and shellfish lands . Salt of the earth and approachable .

I grew up on Wakers Pond so I know that clamming spot off the causeway very well. Beautiful area.

When I used to dig clams when I got one of those big ribbon worms I would throw them to the seagulls they loved them
