    Made this bag several years ago. It's adorable but so many pieces and in the end the main compartment was very narrow. I always wished that Calla would have modified this pattern to make it bigger.

    Oh thank god someone remade this videos. The only other tutorial I could find for it that was an actual tut wasn’t that great quality, could barely hear her & she would ramble on about nonsense. I’ve literally had to skip through 3/4 of a video bc she wasn’t talking about the pattern or anything pertaining to the pattern. SO glad to see doing a tutorial on it 💜💜💜💜

    I’m always wary of making bound bags - the binding process never seems to go as well as it should for me , but so many great bags are bound, including this one, that I think I’ll have to just go for it!

    Thank you for these clear explanations, it's better to see the video than to read the instructions, which are not always very clear... on the other hand, I did fewer seams than you, preferring to group them, as for the fina bias, or completely in sewing the gussets by hand.... I have a small machine that has trouble with the thicknesses, but I got to the end! I dream of a machine like yours 🤗

    addendum: extra THANKS to you for this video. for whatever reason, I had difficulty following the written directions for this great sling bag. so, I watched your video while making different sections, which was an enormous help. your demonstration was so helpful. the person I made it for loved it. her comment was, "Better than Vera!" as I riffed on a Vera Bradley sling (w/ my fabric choices), since this pattern seemed much more functional than the vera sling. I was also able to make the sling more feminine and "grown up", ie sleek, than hers. Anyway, you/your video was an enormous help to me. I have watched many more of your videos since, and will rely on you in the future.

    • @SiahSwag

      I would do your zipper panels 1/4 to 1/2 inch bigger than your total gusset width

  • @ilaallen190
    @ilaallen190 Před 2 lety +1

    This was a nice tutorial. Going back to widening the gusset. I assume you're referring to the "Bottom" Gusset (no pattern) that's originally 18 w x 3 h, which would now be 19 wide x 3h. For the zipper panels (no pattern) 19.5 w x 1.5 h, which now becomes 20 w x 1.5 h. I just want to make sure I'm using the right pieces. Thanks much!
