Supercars at Bathurst Mt Panorama is better than Nascar ... hands down 🇦🇺
Hell yeah!!
Different race for different conditions US fans want to be able to see the action continuously hence the oval Aussies are content to sit anywhere and see it as it goes in font of them and now we can see it on laptops
G'day @kustom2177
I agree with you 💯 👍
Stay safe mate.
@@jacktattis there is much more to it than that ... the main race from start to finish goes for over 6 hours ... many people will walk around the entire course and watch from different vantage points throughout the whole event ... ✌🏽
@@Kustom2170 Thanks
I’m a 63yr old Aussie mum, who has grown up absolutely loving this race. Every October, for all of my life, the race at Bathurst really was THE sporting event of the year (and that includes The Melbourne Cup and our beloved Aussie Rules Grand Final). My aunt, who is 73, will not answer her phone while Bathurst is on. It is the pinnacle of car racing in the world and there is nothing comparable to it anywhere the planet.
I remember watching it early 70's when I was a kid and it wasn't unusual to see a farmer on his tractor on conrod straight during the race.
Your words are echoing my
Life ! Not a lawn was mowed , telephone answered ! Mum had pies and sausage rolls in the oven at 7am plenty of snacks and cold drinks in the fridge and the entire street would gather in our garage for the day for the race !
Best race in the world.
The Germans have a couple of good ones Nurburgring
Cheers luv , a nice cup of tea & 1000 Kms
And they don't only do this once, they do it 161 times!
or in the GT 12hr, they do more than double that
@@JohnRolyAU but not in a car that ways a ton in half .
@@432htz3 they weigh 1200-1300kgs, supercars weight 1340kg so not much difference at all
@@JohnRolyAU Thanks for clarifyng.
Should be163, get rid of that chase, it’s alien
Probably the best race you'll ever watch. It's the only time this whole house is glued to the TV for 6 hours. It's also just a normal road for the rest of the year
just remember it goes for six hours and 161 laps around the circuit
That is crazy
@@DusankReactions With driver change 1/2 way.
Nascar is round and round in a circle, those drivers are good, but this is, as you've seen, so much more. These drivers are the best of the best. This is why, Shane Van Gisbergen became the first driver in over 60 years to win a NASCAR Cup race on debut when he took the checkered flag at the inaugural Chicago Street Course race.
Not so much the last few years, as they have 'road courses" that are normal tracks, and are looking at more street races, after the success of the one SVG had his maiden win in - Chicago?
One thing not mentioned in this video is the elevation of the track from its lowest point to the highest point. It's 180 metres or just under 600 ft. Also the rate of incline at several points is a 1 in 6 gradient all that in just over 6km and a 2 min 7 sec average race lap time.
Mate, you should do a reaction to American 3 time national nascar champion Darrell Waltrip do a hot lap around Mount Panorama Bathurst it's funny.
Absolutely hilarious 😂😂
Indeed. It's frikkin funny!🤣🤣🤣
Yeh... He shat himself.
Bloody oath........that was so hilarious I had sore ribs from laughter 😂 Definitely listen to the person who posted this and give it a look, you won't regret it 💯👍
Nothing funnier than normal react vids than watching someone experience it for themselves. A+ entertainment
Best race track on the planet!
Mark Larkham (the guy talking) is a well respected motorsport legend here in OZ.. One of our best drivers to not win the race but knows the place and the sport like the back of his hand.
You gotta watch Bathurst. 10-13 october. cars are a bit different now but its still a great race.
Now you might understand how Shane Van Gisbergen took the NASCAR drivers by surprise in his first drive as a NASCAR 'rookie!' Skill developed on real racetracks in Australia & New Zealand.
And Marcus Ambrose reamed them on every road course since he landed........
Bathurst is an Australian pilgrimage, a rite of passage for some, all roads lead to Bathurst...
I don't know what it is about these videos that they do for Bathurst, but if gives you a feeling you can't explain. I race myself and while I am only in my 2nd full time year, Bathurst is the goal. I think it's the goal for every kid in Australia growing up and coming through, and even globally it's one of the world gems. Coming from a motorsporting family from drag racing and now I am in circuit racing, Bathurst is the one weekend you stop in the year to watch. You don't miss it.
I’m a frustrated race car driver, and now way too old to start, but I wish you all the luck in the world with your passion and dream of racing at Bathurst!
worked at Bathurst for the past 9 or so years, never gets old, go out on me breaks or before/after my shift to go and film some as well. 2022 was a chaotic year though. could have used boats to go around the mountain instead of car
the guy speaking is a retired race car driver of this race-
The host of this video won pole position in 1999 top ten shootout, yet when you watch it, his car looks the slowest, because he drives it smoothly. He qualified 7th fastest then drives a perfect lap, puts it on pole without looking fast.
Best race in the world. Sometimes it's raining at the top and dry at the bottom. What tyres do you use? Peter Brock won a wet race on slicks.
Brock was (still is) a legend.
Didn't he win Bathurst by 6 laps in a worked 6 cylinder Torana??
@@1953beetle
It was an A9X torana, 1978 if I remember!😅
@@paulorchard7960 Thanks for the info.
When not used for racing the circuit is open to public as a public road. There is houses in the centre and ppl can drive in both directions. The cops do check randomly to catch speeders however it is brutal. Ive driven and ridden on my motorbike, very steap, tight and concrete walls.
The James Hardie 1000 used to be shown every year on british tv in the 80s when i was a kid, ive loved Mount panorama ever since.
That 'Chase' turn was not always there - in the earlier years, 'Conrod Straight' was just a straight downhill from 'Forest Elbow', to the 90 degree final corner.....
I have watched many reactions to this video of our great race and I do love the shacking of the head, the "oh my god" comments. I've been watching the race for decades and I still get goose bumps watching Larko, an ex racer himself describe the sheer terror of this track. I highly recommend you and your subscribers watch any thing related to the "Bathurst 1000"
This is, by far, the most supreme video of any race, any track ..by a seasoned professional racer, Mark Larkham. The track, the event, is unmatched.
You should watch the full race. Maybe start with the 2014 one. It's like the Nurburgring meets Monaco meets Isle of Man (they stopped racing bikes at Mount Panorama years ago - it was just too dangerous). One lap is incredibly hard but it's also an endurance race - several hours long, and so physically demanding a few years ago the *race leader* was forced by the medical team to withdraw from the race because they could see he was starting to make mistakes that could cost his life. He was in the lead, only a few minutes from the finish of the race, but they pulled him out of the car and did a driver change sacrificing several positions. And that's the other thing, it needs two drivers. And the second driver is not allowed to be someone who races in these cars. Drivers from Europe, young aussie drivers early in their career, etc have to do nearly half the race. Imagine the pressure they're under to even get the car around the track let alone set competitive lap times. There's also a 12 hour race at the track as part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge series with GT3/GT4 classes. It's not as good as the Bathurst 1000, but it's pretty close. And half the drivers are from your side of the world. This year's race is in about a month - lookup Bathurst 12 Hour.
Aussie racing at its finest, sadly the days of Holden vs Ford is gone, but it still is an awesome race. Same goes for the old "clipsal 500". Loved watching these on the weekend and going to the clipsal each year. Half the reason I brought a fpv, love the sound of the v8.
Greatest racing circuit in the English speaking world. Easily sits in any World Top Five Circuits list.
This is the BEST race on the BEST track in the world. Don't believe me ? Go there and see for yourself you will never forget it. There is absolutely nothing like it any where.
NASCAR ? Nah.........Two weeks ago an Aussie star of our Supercars entered a NASCAR road race (not an oval). Starting well back the local drivers didn't see him coming but sure saw him go.1 race.....1 win. They were gobsmacked, & said so. Believe this....Bathurst is like no other.
This is such an exceptional race, that you can start from the back of the field and still win the race. It challenges you every kilometre, every lap. You won't know if you've beaten the mountain, until 6 hours and 161 laps later; then, and only then can you stop holding your breath. NERVES OF STEEL, that's what it takes.
This is one lap of the most intense tracks in the world, Imagine the mental and physical toll that it must take during 161 laps.
apart from the old Norberg rink this is the hardest race track on earth. every year for 1000 k
My friend here in southern Sydney, takes holidays every year at this time and makes a trip to Bathurst for this event. She's a big fan of Supercars.
If you're a BMW man, you might want to check out earlier Bathurst when it was more of an open category and had different classes. Tony Longhurst comes to mind.
Most inportant check at Bathurst ,the Power to Brains Ratio .
Mount Panorama is in Bathurst. That’s about 2.5hrs east of where I live in western New South Wales. The track is a public road that is closed off for the race.
What do you mean by might be. Nothing comes close to these guys at Mt Panarama Bathurst NSWAustralia. Checkout what they were like in the early days. 1st race was terrifying.
Scary thing is that the camera makes it look much flatter than it really is.
Not long ago that straight was straight ALL THE WAY DOWN. It's why it's called "Conrod Straight" cos if a motor was Gunna give way it was doing 280-320kph down it. Keep in mind this is public road when not being raced on.
Bathurst kicks NASCAR. Ya better watch the next Bathurst live is all I can say. . Cheers.,🇭🇲🤙🍻 Now watch some races on video and top Ten shootouts etc.
Might ?
thats brilliant mate ive never heard bathurst called "bath thrust"
I recommend Pinepac Racing , in car footage around the track plus elevation , speed , gears and map showing the position of the car . Usually 70s and 80s Aussie muscle cars , you get a great perspective and feel of The Mountain . Highly recommended .
Greg Murphy what dam legend
Wild track. One of the best in the world. Until you see the track in person you have no idea of the mountain. TV does it no justice
The great joy is that this is a "public road", you come to Bathurst and you can drive around the track. But remember the "60 kph" speed limit an it is a two way street.
I have been around it in an Alfa-sud and a 65 Chev Impala - two very different laps!
NASCAR is a short straight into a left turn, then a long straight into a left turn. Followed by a long straight into a left turn, followed by a long straight into a left turn. How much more excitement do you need? Doh! How about a few right turns and hills thrown in? NASCAR, a perfect cure for sleepless nights! Try the BTCC Super Tourers from the 80's and 90's as well. Like Bathurst, that was real racing!
I have camped so many times up at McPhillamy Park that it's almost like a second home. Let me tell you guys, this normally is a public road so you can drive around it. Just be warned, it is heavily policed and speed cameras are present to stop the revheads. A magical place. Chaz Mostert is who I cheer for. Oh, and my mate Frosty.
Supercars at Bathurst makes Nascar look like tiddly winks.
True
This was where the race cam started that Nascar use now It is around my birthday weekend around the 6th October which also Country weekend in my home town Sunraysia. We used to get Nascar here too.
I remember watching it early 70's when I was a kid and it wasn't unusual to see a farmer on his tractor on conrod straight during the race.
2:28 Chaz Mostert car is now at the National Motor Racing Museum At Bathurst
More similar to Germanys DTM. It’s touring car racing, not stock cars.
You would love the Bathurst 12 hour, part of the World Endurance Series. There are British teams that compete, like the big Bentley's, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Nissan, Ferrari, Lambourghini. They can race for 12 hours and there can still be barely a car length in it. Plenty of videos of the last ten or twenty minutes of the race, and the excitement all the way to the finish line. The 12 hour and the Bathurst 1000 are the two biggest races each year on the circuit. czcams.com/video/3GBy9rz28fU/video.htmlsi=lCjMS7bdtkQKoAQy
one of the worlds greatest street circuits and one of the oldest still in use
It's called Bathurst, pronounced B-ath (like ass with a lisp) then urst- like erst. There is no rust in Bathurst!
Thank you, from a Bathurst fan from the beginning in 1963 when all classes of cars competed for 500 miles. Before then it started as the Armstrong 500 at another great Australian Circuit at Phillip Island in 1960.
i'm a kiwi and this race is absolutely crazy. bathurst is once a year in 0ctober. by far the best race of the year.
They used to have a race meeting every Easter long weekend for BIKES. I race there three years in a row on a TZ 350 that topped out at 160mph. Before they put the chase in the end of the big straight (to slow things down) any bike that did 100 mph or more would wheelstand off the top of the crest. At 160mph the wheelstand lasted about 200 metres. 160 mph on one wheel. They stopped the bikes when common sense took over
thats why they call it the great race
Mark L is the best in the business for motivation at Bathurst. Man is a legend
Wins by a car length over a 6 hour race 😂thats crazy.Of course pace cars have a say in that but still exciting seeing a finish like that. And don't forget a kangaroo can jump out in front of them at any time 😂
Got to watch out for those kangaroos for sure 😅
My husband used to race motorcycles at Bathurst in the 1980s. Then they put up the concrete walls to protect the spectators from the cars & it became too dangerous to race motorcycles.
Reid park at the top op the hill is the best spot in the world to watch racecars
Bathurst happens every October and every bloke is in front of the telly on tgat Sunday. Everything stops for Bathurst.
They left out the occasional kangaroos that hop into race traffic.
You need to earn the right to drive Mount Panorama. Darrell Waltrip found that out the hard way.
Simply the best race in the world and I'm lucky to own one of them ❤
This always makes me want to get my couch and do something 😂 so motivational!
Australian touring-car is Awesome
Nascar go round no turns like this
Check out the early days of Mt Panorama , bugger all safety back then , some bad crashes .
It’s one thing to watch it on a screen, it’s another thing to actually be there and another thing to actually drive on the track. You really can’t even begin to tell through a tv screen how narrow and steep the track is and how high up you are at skyline and they fly through most of it at over 200km/h.
Another Bathurst related video that is a must watch is Josh revell’s “the greatest motor race ever.”
One thing the Mt Panorama racing circuit is a public road because people live on it
The Esses are STEEP. I mean, rrreeally STEEEEP. When you drive your road going car around, you realise the tv screen doesn't convey the reality completely. It just drops off. Clubs use it for hill climbs in the opposite direction. Yeah, steep and these drivers do it at 200kph for 6 hours.
Oh yes and Conrod Straight used to be straight ALL the way down to Hell Corner. They put the kink in after Denny Hulme died during and off.
Not only that, but the track used to be dirt until the 1950's.
Bathurst is the Superbowl of motorsport.
If you play racing games and this track is in it, give it a go, seriously fun
You got any racing games recommendations?
@@DusankReactions Gran Turismo 7 is a go to atm, but any old Forza Motorsport games should do especially since the have the V8's in them.
our Aussie V8 guys go over and win in Nascar, the Nascar guys come here and can't finish the race
G'day from Australia,
Mt,panorama Bathurst is the biggest most exciting
And demanding race on the Australian calendar !
It's much better than daytona, nascar ,
It's spiritual to Aussie's !
Just for 1 day each year
The bloke who presented the video Is Mark LARKO Larkham , a retired driver and team owner !
He is a legend !
If he tells you something
You'd better listen !
I used to go for the Australian Grand Prix, for motorcycles, now that was wild.
Google motorcycle race riots Bathurst or similar.
The Bathurst race has turned out to be a quasi US car race between GM and Ford It used to be open to all makes And until the Supercars race the worlds best it will be just a another ford GM competition.
And if you manage to get all that right, your reward is to do it 160 more times!
Also some Nascar drives have done laps and they are said they could do this track. I know haven't had a favorite favorite for a long time I always liked Peter Brock
Blimey Guv .. British drivers have coming here for years , all because of this track.
Its a 5.5 to 6 hour race .its the BEST .
Hi bro this is one of my favorite racing to watch every year. And FYI for your information your pronunciation for Bathurst is wrong its Bath_urst . Love your work buddy happy you love our racing
The guy giving the sell is Mark Larkin a former driver. He knows his stuff.
Mark Larkin is a dead ringer for that other peddler Mark Larkham.
"Might be" better than NASCAR ? You kidding? The average NASCAR driver wouldn't survive one lap in a Bathurst race. In fact he wouldn't be allowed to race, he simply would not have the necessary skill, or even the stamina. Remember, this a brutal race lasting more than six hours at speeds of up to 300km per hour!
Great race. 6hrs 1000km. 650hp v8s with 2 drivers. Great circuit.
That's mark larcomb he has a few thousand laps around the mountain. To us Aussie best track in the world. And you can drive the track any day of the week at 60kph
This world class track sorts out the men from the boys .
"might be"!?!?
10 Times better than all other race tracks oi oi oi
What do you mean might be better SVG will show you how much better the drivers are
Way better than nasscar dude. All tight and hard turns with every corner, different. Whereas nasscars its just going around a circular track
top video thank you
Well, as far as i can recall, no one has brought a nascar here to try it. F1 yes..... Nascar or Indycar? not that i recall. How do they fare on a mountain in the rain? Hitting a kangaroo?
Get the computer racing game and drive it
Or better yet - go to Bathurst away from race day and just drive the track at 60km, ypu can imagine how steep the climb is or how fast it drops down the esses
and for most of the year, it just a normal road 60kph
Mate, jump on a plane and get down here. When there's no racing it's a normal public road to drive around ( at the speed limit of course).
its the best its fantastic
The rest of the year it's a sheep grazing paddock
Aussie racing at its best 😊
Thats one lap, of 161
