I truly do wish that somebody would pick this up and continue it. this was great watching and I think this was the only time that are parents allowed me, my brother and sister to stay up really late. This really does need to come back on again.
Shawn, it really does need to come back. It was So much of a tradition for that time of the year!
Don Rickles had class
Is it me or will we never have entertainers like this ever again. People who cared about others more than padding their own pockets and people like Don and Jerry, Sammy and Dean who by definition were GENTLEMAN. True Angels. God Bless their memories may they never ever be forgotten.
RIP Jerry, Ed and Don. Thank you not only for the laughs but for entertaining us for so many years. 🙏🙏
Watched this Telethon, every year, for many years ...a lot of fun 😃
Don Rickels was without a doubt an undisputed Legend in comedy. but Jerry Lewis devoted many years of his life for MDA. he was a Richous man. he worked tirelessly for many years raising funds for kids. even when he was Real sick. these are Two wonderful American Legends that made a Huge contribution both in comedy and helping people. RIP Don and Jerry

gynandroidhead Also to Mr. Lewis. Now they are both in heaven together having fun.
He truly was one of a kind, sadly in todays society the radical cancel culture would be all over him. Rip Don thanks for the memories 🙏
My two Favorite comedians of all time!
Deborah Carder was he joking
LEGENDARY !
" One Jew standing here alone, there's an Arab in the back I can get picked off and die am I right?"

Did really one of the band players is an Arab ?? Or is it just a joke anyway ?

LOL told him he's gonna be working a grille in downtown LA!
Jerry, una leggenda, un grande uomo di spettacolo che sopravvivera a ogni altro artista
You don't have to call me sir the King of all Jews should be sufficient.

This event was a tough one for someone who is an expert at insult humor. He did a great job as he always did even though the program was about raising money and awareness of MD, a very serious subject.
epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don Rickles toned down his usual routine for a mixed audience.

Rickles had an off night. He looks like he has the flu.
CHEAPSKATE JEW! EVERY YEAR $1,000 - look at all the tapes! ROTFLOL I love CZcams
LOL must have touched a nerve here :>) Lets see... it translates into a dime a year from Rickles given his annual income
Harlem Swing Dance HOTJazz 1000 was 5000
While Rickles was not a top act like Martin & Lewis in their heyday in '55,; however you contrast $15,000 a night at the Copa then ... and surely Rickles in the 70's was getting close to that in night club appearances. Ok for the "fun" of it $8000 - and yrly Jerry gets thrown a hockey puck/bone . A supermarket could have done better LOL
And his appearance was probably free, and I'll bet you couldn't get Don to appear for less then $10000
Anyway uh
anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway,
What a stiff crowd.
Call me king of the Jews funny guy
Its going to be a sad day when they find out they aren't jews.
Are they not descendants of the original Jewish people?
O lighten up already
Have a laugh. Unnecessary comment
The crowd was terrible for Rickles. Meh, not so good.
Double personality here.Generous with other people n yet Jerry lewis left his first wife n children practically nothing on his will when he died. His present wife n adopted daughter were Luckier.
Never found Rickles funny …..
Well then why comment and watch the video
But is this guy funny ?? Funny only for the USA, famous only in the USA because if Jerry is loved and known all over the world, this guy who vomits insults who would it be? Who in Europe knows him?
Is insulting fun? For Americans only!
Ummm I don't think you understand don tickles humor. And besides why are you watching this with don in it. I heard stories that he was the complete opposite of his stage presence
What's so funny about Don Rickles?
Robert S. You have to ask! You sure are a stiff! Im guessing your a liberal! Another political correctness Democrat with zero sense of humor!
this is exception. the audience was extremely stupid.
Robert S. he did this off the fly and he roasted people. The pillow over Jerry face.
@@Malouco lol! Halarious
@@vikings844 Nailed it. The original poster must need a safe space too. Don was politically INcorrect and a comedy legend because of it. I found this hilarious!
Sorry, never liked Lewis or Rickles. Both such mean-spirited egomaniacs. However, RIP.
This wasn't funny. He didn't say one funny thing. Everything he said was mean-spirited and at times vicious.
Suzy Florida You must not have seen much of Rickles. Thats kinda his thing.
He was an insult comic. That's what he did his whole career.
Suzy Florida: You must be a young'en. Mr. Rickles was a famous actor and comedian for probably 50+ years!
You must watch more don rickles videos to understand the act that he always puts on. The outstanding art of his comedy was that he acted as a person that was not him. He just put it all on. It was just an act. Do you know laurel and hardy the most famous of all comedy duos there was. Stan Laurels act was to play the stupid person that can get very angry, that is easily offended, quite vulnerable and so on whilst Oliver hardy played the other one that thinks that he's much more clever and smart than Stan and that he thinks he is like a father to Stan and Stan like his little son. And always the funny thing is that at the end he is as stupid as stan because as Stan he has no control over his temper and is as vulnerable as Stan, is quick to anger, just a tiny bit more stable and tolerant and patient. Now I described you the character of Stan and Ollie briefly. Don rickles portraid just such a character. His character roasted celebrities and said the meanest things about them. Some things were pure nonsense like the attempt to strangle Jerry in the hospital, but other things were true, things about celebrities that everyone knows from newsmagazines and newspapers like struggle with alcohol or marriage and divorcing and whatever. And about the negative things his act, his role complains about much and is saying very mean things. But always always always at the end of the roasting, at the end of his comic play he turns into himself and tells very fine and beautiful and honest and heartfelt things about the poeple he roasted. At the end of his act he turns into the real himself into the real human don rickles who is a real gentleman that ignores all the faults of the celebrities he roasts and emphathizes just what is special and unique about someone and he's telling anyone from the bottom of his heart that he loves and admires the addressed person and mostly he even is telling them: may God bless you. Because he his famous for this: playing a mean person full of bitterness, full of criticizing others for their faults and weaknesses and at the end of this acting showing his real face of a loving and caring gentleman. That's why he has the nickname mister warmth.
