A comedian once quipped that telling someone you're good at Checkers is akin to saying you're not good at a lot of things. But regardless of whether or not you like Checkers, you're sure to love Trapdoor Checkers - a fun remix of the classic board game with an added element of chance along with super-cool trapdoors.
The Trapdoor Checkers board (like a traditional Checkers board) is an 8x8 grid, but with the added twist of eight trapdoors that can be opened and closed by a series of sliders. At the beginning of each turn, players spin their "Randomizer" which determines if they can move a piece or activate one of the four rows of trapdoors.
Designed for ages 7+. One spare checker of each color is included.

Exactly. It does require skill, and strategy, but it's not too complex. I say it's above basics. It can't be compared to Chess, but checkers are also very fun, and much more fast paced!

Soy de River soy de River yo soy it requires basic strategy of ok its defensively strong to have checkers two in a row whenever possible so you cannot get jumped. Know when to let one of you pieces get jumped to set up a multi jump attack. And know when the opponent wants to do that to you. Chess is still leagues above but it has more strategy then shoots and ladders. It’s the least strategy required in a game to actually be able to say strategy is required.

@Heath0494 Sort of. The lever for each set of 2 trapdoors has three positions: left, center, and right. You can move the selector one position per turn. So, going from center to left will open the furthest trapdoor. On the next move, you can only move from left to center which will close that trapdoor. On the next move, you could then open either trapdoor. Basically, once you open a trapdoor, you have to use one turn to close it.

Well acting against rng,like blocking a path makes you startegize to what path you should go,adding rng adds depth,but yeah they should add new rules for skill not rng

I do like to play checkers. To say its like tic tac toe is crazy. Its only like tic tac toe if you can think 1000's of moves ahead across multiple scenarios. It is true that if both players move perfect then it will end in a draw. But only computers seem to be able to do it consistantly and even some checker programs arent that great. Adding chance with checkers or chess is ridiculous. what if your spin always lands on open or close a trap door? and you never move a peice. sounds like fun. the complexity of checkers is to great for average people. mathematicains can get beat by children. google the greatest checker player ever. Dude beat the machine. Told the computer in a match 100's of moves ahead when it messed up. to be bless with a mind like that...

Checkers doesnt exactly require much skill though, sure you can put some thought into where you want your pieces to go, but tbh, all your doing is jumping pieces till someone wins... And a lot of movements are chance based at points. True strategy is usually taken by chess
Backgammon is a favorite of mine, because not only does it require skill, it requires quick thinking due to the dice rolls.

If checkers were so simple Marion Tinsley would have had far more draws and pretty close to zero wins, that is not the case. Many humans are pretty shit at checkers/draughts?! and the same is true with chess, just because Super GM's are almost unbeatable and often draw between each other does not mean some arbitrary pleb can simply expect the same.
