STORM Friederike!! TURBOPROP CROSSWIND Landings during a storm at Düsseldorf (4K)

- The Turboprop pilots had to fight with wind gusts up to 70 knots and some of these airplanes were thrown around like light feathers in the wind. I am pretty sure the passengars of these flights will probably remember these flights for a long time. I decided to edit another video of yesterdays crosswind situation to focus on the small Dash-8 turboprob plane which definitly had some issues with the wind speeds. Some of them had to approach three times until they finally manged to land. It` s incredible to see how skilled some of these pilots are and this video definitly proves why pilots are definitly not overpaid. Great job!
The Bombardier Dash 8 or Q-Series, previously known as the de Havilland Canada Dash 8 or DHC-8, is a series of twin-engine, medium-range, turboprop airliners. Introduced by de Havilland Canada (DHC) in 1984, they are now produced by Bombardier Aerospace. Over 1,000 Dash 8s of all models have been built

As a Q400 pilot, I can tell you that when you see the wings flex, they were rocked HARD.
Max U how are you the top comment with one like and zero replies
The first one?
As a Q400 pilot, what are your thoughts on the first landing? A bit much sideload on those legs?
As a Q400 pilot it looks like a day that I would have called in sick.
I used to ride Q400 often when I was young in school.
You know it’s rocking when a Dash 8s wings flex.
This is what my first solo landing felt like even though it was clear skies and no wind.
Well, you appear to still be alive so . . . well done.
@@Cryptonymicus And if a plane is still airworthy then perfect job. :)
insightful!
Bob Donovan I had the great 👍 pleasure of doing my solo crabing to the runway due to intense side winds.
Reminds me of a 40mph side wind landing I made in a Taylorcraft at Buffalo aerodrome in Amarillo. I got the sideye from the cattle near the turnaround on that one. It felt like I was flying a kite!
By God the skill of pilots is off the charts.
Aren't these planes pretty much automated, fly by wire or sumthin like that???

Skilled pilots
NO
@@aaizaabdulazeez1810 WTF? Yes they are very skilled. I’d assume they are probably more skilled than you at flying.
Not a problem for Widerøe pilots. Just another day at work.
Widerøe - Best Dash 8 pilots in the world.
those Flybe guys are somethin' else, too
Exactly, Wideroe pilots are just fantastic/crazy. I went from Sandane to Orsta Volda and then to Oslo by Dash 8 once during wind/rain. Craziest flight ever. Sandane to Orsta Volda was just like a 10 or 15 minute roller coaster ride. Enjoyed every second of it, but it was just me and the crew probably... And we took off in literally 10 seconds. Dash 8s are really fantastic planes... and with those Wideroe pilots - they fly them like fighter jets... unforgettable....
@Sharron Clark Maybe you are right. But this guys are professionals. Look at any street worldwide, every third driver thinks he is a formula one racing pilot, especially in Germany. And they are no professionals, just normal drivers...
Sharron Clark
Just another day in the office.
According to literally no one.
*WOW!!! Excellent catch turboprop crosswind!!!*
Clearly this pilot's skill level is well beyond the norm fearless.
These are the real pilots the ones that can land a plane in than conditions. Nice catches :)
0:53 that airbus was like "yo nice job mate"
F-27
There's a reason the Dash 8 is so popular. Horizon Air (QX) uses them here in Montana for iffy conditions. This video is spectacular.
That is one beautiful plane there
Hi
First pilot was a G... he's like, come hell or high winds, I'm landing this muthatrucker
Yeah... put that Fokker on the ground at any cost
Holy Cow! That first aircraft really was being tossed around like a leaf. You gotta know that there had to be some extremely terrified passengers.
The pilot managed to get her down right on the centerline on that last landing! Good job. Getting these down at all is outstanding though!
Agreed! That last was either masterful or very lucky ;)
Insane !!! You were in the perfect place to film these landings at the moment of the storm. Amazing and congratulations. Greetings from Mexico City.
Excellent video.
Had to watch it again.
Those pilots are so skilled.
Especially the first landing was impressive.
I hope there's a lot of sick bags on those planes.
Best landing was the last
Great planes, built just 50 km south of my place. I see the green tail new ones being test flown near here. 🇨🇦
Those were really wobbly approaches! Nice catches:)
Well done. The faith the aircrew have in their skills and their aircraft under those conditions. Awesome.
Once again crystal clear smooth video with great content.
great video, those guys had their hands full, and passenger got a free thrill park ride too
Gracias por tan impresionante video, aquí Bolivia 🇧🇴
Thank you for posting/sharing, nice camera work!
The crosswind correction from the Flybe at 2:50 was beautiful
Thanks for you video.
Love it.
Amazing! Crazy approaches but overall an amazing video!
Now that's a pilot friends and neighbors.
Bad ass pilots there. They’ve definitely done their homework. Kudos to ya!!
When the guys from flybe go around, it's surely some serious crosswinds, they're not new to strong winds! ...and I guess some air sickness bags got filled in this! :)
Great camerawork by the way!
Excellent!
Time to watch whilst eating my lunch.
Highly skilled pilots. Congradulations guys!
Love to see professionals working !!!
Great video!!! The pilots did really a good job and it was a challenge of the passengers stomach ;-)). Cheers DrDuu
When I was learning to fly and hadn't yet done crosswind landings (or takeoffs) I was inadvertently allowed up on a day with a fairly strong crosswind as the CFI wasn't in the office. The takeoff was a bit weird as I began to drift across the runway but once airborne it was ok. The problems began when I tried to land, I had only read about the two main techniques, wing down and crabbing, but had never had instruction. I had to overshoot on the first five landings and as fuel was low (club planes are often deliberately low on fuel to save weight and avoid stress on the gear) I now really needed to get down. I was afraid to declare my predicament as the CFI was inclined to shout. I was crabbing towards the runway but every time I was about to flare the crosswind drifted me off the runway towards rough ground. On the sixth attempt, and pouring sweat I knew I had to get down somehow and this time I instinctively used the rudder to align with the grass runway just as I touched down and it worked. Convinced that everybody had been watching my clumsy attempts I was expecting some comments or jokes, but nobody was watching, nobody had seen anything! The next time out I requested crosswind training.
Slip it. Use the rudder to control alignment, ailerons to control drift.
OMG...awesome landing, awesome video! Dash 8 + Storm = Spectaculair! :-) Greetz
красавчики пилоты!!! РЕСПЕКТ!
Представляю сколько "кирпичей" отложили паксы)))
О, русские
Landed like that once. They still can’t get the seat clean. 😳
Ron Parker ... lol what did you have for dinner? Mexican food?
I remember when I was 11 we came in similarly and I was so oblivious to the danger I was smiling and enjoying myself the whole time. I still catch grief cause the rest of my family remembers white knuckling it the way in and were pissed I was calm.
🤭🤭🤭
That Landing maneuver it's called crabbing into the crosswinds.
Gary Quail that’s a voluntary maneuver?
Thank you again 👍
I expect the passengers will be getting the train next time ...
In Germany all long distance trains and many local ones were cancelled because of the storm
Remember the plane is safer.
Well damn I’m flying one of these today :/
Are you a pilot José?
But before make a bricks in toilet after this flight....
Hey no kidding that would be fun . The faces of the passengers would be priceless .
If I was on those flights.. I'd close my eyes and hope for the best.. Haha. Keep up the great work! 👍👍
ryan moeller actually if you close your eyes, it will just make it worse (insert you must be fun at parties comment here)
@@ZK-APA you must be fun at partys.
Not but completely true. Better to look down on your feet or praying hands
I'd throw my hands in the air and go "Wheee!". I love turbulence. Where else do you get a rollercoaster without tracks? ^__^
Massive respect for those pilots
You don't see that everyday! great footage!
I truly hope I never have to experience something like this ....awesome pilot ....crazy skills
These guys are amazing!
Airmanship at it's finest
I could not be a pilot, that’s for sure. Geat video, thanks for sharing!
Major props to the pilots.
Scary stuff! Yes,those pilots most certainly deserve their pay;they are fantastic with the way they handle these aircraft in such extreme weather conditions.
Nice one! Turboprops never fail to deliver a great show in gusty weather :D
As for the passengers? Well, Let's just say I would not want to be onboard during those flights!
Мастерство пилотов зашкаливает! Молодцы!
Thats some serious flying!!
This is confidence backed up by performance. True seat of the pants pilotage..
Excellent pilots !
Wow - that's gotta feel mighty good to get all gearbon the ground under those conditions! Some real talent in a couple of those landings - must have carrier experience.
Congrats to great skilled pilots...
Great video and excellent pilots
Some hell of great pilots.
Nice shots. Good video
Brilliant captures 👍:)
3:56 textbook crosswind landing
In my opinion, I think the dash 8’s are the King Of The Props,
This type of plane looks so dangerous if there is any wind.
They are all over the place during landings.
Insane skilled pilots 👍
When gusts exceedes limitation, but she said nobody at home.
The mighty Dash!
What in the love of wind are you people talking about???
I remember sending my flight instructor a question like that on a windy day. He proceeded to send me a link to an article which I will paraphrase, the maximum crosswind on an aircraft is the highest wind demonstrated during testing, it has more to do with the pilots skills than the aircrafts ability.
Тяжко,красавцы!
Salute to the pilots !!!!!!
For a pilot, this is known as "earning your paycheck" heh!
Earning your uniform. Earning your paycheck - land with severe failure )
great landings
Those bombardier pilots are outstanding.
This is A++ flying.
Very Scary flights. would not have liked being a passenger, great to watch. Thank you
Awaresome well done guys
That's what I love about flying 💘
Parabéns aos Pilotos , Copilotos e tbm quem filmou e dividiu essas filmagens.
One heck of a great landing.
The visible deflection of the wings is crazy. Those pilots are brave people indeed, and the passenger in need of an undies change.
Great Pilots.
Awesome video.
Well done under immense stress.
I will divert any time I have an option to avoid landing my twin in those conditions. That was definitely below my minimums.
Craziest crabbing I have ever seen! The headwind had Dash 8's hovering in the air. Kudos to the ones who went around!
Who doesn't enjoy staring down the center line of the runway just before touchdown... from your seat behind the wing
Those -8 drivers right legs looked like Quagmires arm after he discovered the internet
Bravo!
Wow! Mein Respekt für all diese Piloten. Aber ich denke, die Flugaufsicht hatte auch alle Hände voll zu tun.
Und Danke für`s Hochladen.
Were they all flown by Harrier pilots ?
That suspension really did his work
Nobody:
Captain: I've waited my whole life for this.
lol
😬
Child: yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy
I always feel like the main gears of the Dash 8's are about to break off specially when it lands slightly sideways. Great camerawork and video, windy conditions makes everything great! :D
I wonder how much side loading they can take on the gears. :o
Great plane, great pilots
respect to the pilot very good landing
Superb
The first plane reminded me of a time when I came home after .25 Coors Light draft night in college.
The first one was awesome
Dude around 2:30 did a decent job given the horrible conditions haha.
Nice video
They showing parts of your Videos on Pro7 Newstime in German Tv great job Dude ! 👍👍👍👍
3:38 like it was going through stress test
Crazy landing
Woah nice catches ;)
