    I am Japanese but have to say Japan was so out of gas and legs were dead in 2nd half.
    I mean I understand why coz starting players played all 4 games in pool and even till the last game and they were not qualified so they had to give everything in that last pool match too. Most of tire 1 countries in final knockout stage, they had some player on rotations in pool so players had longer time to recover as well.
    Nevertheless, South Africa played so well and much better than Japan and congratulations.

      No they won't, this team was made for THIS world cup. If Japan are serious about rugby they'll pump money into their grassroots rugby. If you want to know what a rugby team will look like in 10 years then look at their schoolboys or under 20 rugby teams. Japan will slowly drop rank after this world cup.

    • @PrimalPetersen
      @PrimalPetersen Před 4 lety +3

      This World Cup has been amazing for world and Japanese rugby, but I honestly don’t believe that the way the refs have protected them and given them so much leniency whilst being much harsher on their opposition is actually doing them much good. The number of blatant forward passes, horrendous tackle attempts and allowing of basic “professional fouls” is pathetic. If this game was played anywhere else in the world it would’ve been 50 points.

    • @TGreerTGreer
      @TGreerTGreer Před 4 lety +1

      BEAST 1000 the thing is though, a lot of Japanese people were exposed to Rugby Union through its four pool A wins, so the grassroots will eventually become stronger. The best thing for Japan is if it becomes a more popular sport like baseball. I personally live in Kobe, where 4 pool matches took place, and a lot of people now have interest in rugby as a sport. I assume this is the sort of grassroots you are talking about.
