      Arendse's red card was justified, no argue on that yes. But he's not a dirty player at all, he's judgment let him down in the spur of the moment, it's really inexperience and nerves that caused it. I doubt we will ever see him doing that again. He will not be available for the next test, will be ban for maybe 2-3 games I guess, so we're short of a wing yet again with Kolbe still injured, what a pity.

    As a Saffa, I have the utmost respect for the AB’s and the great rivalry we share. But man changes are needed with the AB’s. I’ve never seen a AB team be so poor at the basics, it appears they lacking confidence perhaps? Front Row needs some working on, because IMO that’s where you guys are getting beat quite often these days. Most of your loses last year and this year is because you failed to compete upfront and at the breakdown and not being able to deal with the rush defence that teams apply on you. Also, back line looking very flat? Think you guys could improve on your centre combo.
    That being said I really am empathetic towards the AB’s, was not too long ago when the Boks where in this position and we ranked 7th in the world. I firmly believe the AB’s will bounce back though, but changes need to happen and soon before it’s too late for the changes to have an affect before the WC. Much respect from 🇿🇦

    • @snoo1296
      @snoo1296 Před rokem +11

      Our head coach has picked the worst front rows possible for the last month now I truly don't understand his logic. All Blacks weren't clinical tonight but the Bokkes weren't great either, they slipped off a lot of tackles the few times the ABs had the ball and their only game plan seemed to be to put up the high kick and flood the area of contest probably legally but those rules might have to be looked at, which is how they scored and how they gained most of their territory, I will say the kicks themselves were bloody accurate though so credit to Pollard but I wouldn't be that happy if I was a boks fan. Refs definitely need to look at how the spring boks flooded the contestable area of kicks and how that winger of theirs had no regard for anyone's safety when he'd just run in full speed without looking at the other contester, he definitely got what he deserved although its pretty savage to say. With the right selections and the right coach I think the ABs will be okay. Well played to the Boks though no question they are the much better team and showed that tonight.

      Id say the ABs problem has more to do with SA leaving super rugby than anything else, lack of having played decent competition compared to the Northern Teams and SA.

    • @cloudydaez
      @cloudydaez Před rokem +3

      @@SnowPyramid I’d say it was more their confidence levels and that’s evident in the lack of basic skills. Last year they were competitive against the Boks….this year they have been woeful. I know that it’s not all the coach and the captains faults, the players need to be accountable but fixing a problem always starts at the top. The rotational policy, the chopping and changing of players and playing them out of position all undermine players and dent their confidence. That’s what I saw in this game against the Boks, school boy errors. What is it going to take to initiate change? A loss at Eden Park? Goodbye to the Bledisloe Cup? Well I can see more pain coming u til someone, the powers that be, own up to this shambles and does something about it.

      He sure did...BUT...when the AB's thrashed us a hundred million to zero, he was also the first to say that he was worried about the Boks and that the SH and AB's needed a strong Boks side, so....
      Look, when the AB's were consistently the best team in the world (which they were), it's easy to get caught up in the whole spiel and believe you'll be there forever. The thing is, though, that that's just not possible. There will come a time when someone else steps up. Once-in-lifetime players have to retire, sooner or later. That's just the way she goes. The AB's have had the luxury of "dominating" rugby for the past almost 10 years (previous to the 2019 WC). Most of their younger supporters don't know what it feels like to lose occasionally (now consistently). Their older supporters have gotten used to "winning all the time" as well. It's obviously hard for them to deal with. We (the rest of the world) have been having it, so we know how to deal with it. It might sound harsh....but they'll learn to deal with losing. They have no choice. We all had to.
      Better luck (but not enough to beat us) next week, AB's.

      As a Bok supporter I share your sentiments, although I still think ABs are our no 1 opposition and will be for many more years. NZ Rugby has too much talent at every level, they will resurrect soon - I assure you. Just read the comments here - the NZ public is demanding change and they'll get it soon.
      Even if NZ loses 10 games in a row they'll be our no 1 opposition and always the best game to watch. There's too much history, too many epic clashes that have happened - a bad patch for NZ won't change that.
      Also, never forget that the Boks went through their worst patch ever 2015-2018; losing to Japan, Italy, Scotland and all the others (and 57-0!)
      and for the most part NZ supporters were offering positive messages and still making us heartbroken Saffa supporters feel part of it. NZ will always be our no 1 foe, and also leaders in how the game should be played

I'm not a Kiwi, I support the real green and gold (Australia), I assure you that there is no country in the world that has the passion or desire to win like NZ not even the Saffa's. South African's are passionate and love rugby, Kiwi's worship rugby, it's a religion in NZ. With all due respect, the Kiwi's are the best because they never settle for good enough, they will plan and innovate, develop and practice until it's perfected.
      Go and watch games where the AB's have got specifics wrong, watch the follow-ups and you see a completely different mindset and focus on the points that need to be perfected.

    Watched a movie which portrayed the beginning of the Spring Boks, bloody brilliant and their coach (an Irishman) way back then took them to a win against the English. Decent coaches certainly make the difference for winning, losing or just putting up a decent battle, the "Chief" for this one didn't/hasn't made the grade. Well done the Boks, deserved.

      What film was that if you don’t mind me asking? I’d love to see it.
      Another interesting bit of history: the Currie Cup (South Africa’s provincial tournament and incidentally the oldest rugby tournament in the world) gets its name from a Scottish merchant named Sir Donald Currie, who gave a golden cup to the British team and told them to give it to the South African team that showed the most heart. From that point on, the South African provincial teams played over the rights to hold this cup. Another pretty cool link to Britain.

    Someone said in 1995 - if we can get all the people of the rainbow nation playing rugby and have a team that represents South Africa's demographic as a whole, we would be unstoppable. Not there quite yet but hoping we can continue like this........Andrew Merhtens (most vocal) wanted SA teams out of super rugby, AB's not used to playing against that physicality for 3 years (almost) and now (IMHO) it is showing. Even when the boks lost 57-0, the AB's knew they were in a physical match, despite the scoreline. But New Zealand will always be one of my favorite teams, and a joy to watch, hoping they come back from this BUT after next weekends match :-) The boks were where you guys were at before Rassie - so there is always hope.

And because of our awesome rugby history with NZ we urge the ABs to just fight through this bad patch and u will come out winning again like we know you're able too. Yes it's nice to win for SA and the Boks, especially the first win vs NZ in SA since 2014 omg lol, but it's not nice to see u struggling too, but it's not going to be for long. Our boys lack confidence too many handling errors, indecisiveness and the lack of leadership on the field. I don't know if changing the coach will help our team because it appears that whatever is happening it is a team problem and not just a coach problem. Something is missing from this squad because even from the post match comments it sounds like they have just given up and they have no idea what to do. Well I was here back before they set the standard for the world to chase and now the world has caught up and I will be here supporting them through another dark chapter and wait for them to sort it out. The team never really got into the game, on defensive duty too long. I agree that simply dumping foster may not entirely fix the issues we have currently. You can only coach a plan and trust the players to execute it. Appeared today they were willing but just unsure of their roles. Start by putting players in their best positions will help. I am quite sure the world isn’t caving in and the ABs will right the ship, just how long it will take is the question. In a way it’s good to have played the harder teams now so we can pinpoint our weaknesses and try fix them before the WC. All the other teams will now learn how tough it is to continue to hold onto top spot for an extended period of time.
