    Blows my mind how photos and software can produce such a good approximation of the object. Kudos for all the post-processing work, looks great.

    For a second I thought you’d said you applied 3 kg of lemonade. Couldn’t imagine why lemonade would help. Ohhhh laminate!

      I had to read your comment before I finally figured that out. Lemonade, new process.

      I heard "lemonade," assumed I had misheard "limonite," and then realized it was "laminate." 🙃

    The craziest part of this is probably how off-the-shelf everything is.

    Awesome Project! You said that you used 3KG of Laminate to seal to Model for Outdoor Use. I am curious... what kind of Laminate did you use?

    So awesome to see the expanding of applications for 3D printing.
    What was the material? PLA? PETG? Or was it hefty enough to require carbon fibre? (Maybe I missed this in the video, sorry).

    • @TGWMS
      @TGWMS Před 5 měsíci +1

      Its from petg

    Has anyone calculated how long this would take on a single MK3i+?
    Asking for a friend… (or my daughter, that really love it!)

    Very nice. Why photogrammetry as opposed to more traditional 3D scanning?

    • @MrBizteck
      @MrBizteck Před 5 měsíci +1

      Im assuming you would need a MASSIVE 3d scanner to capture an entire Dinosaur!

    • @vdis
      @vdis Před 5 měsíci

      Photogrammetry has become surprisingly good. Look for archaeologic reconstruction of underwater shipwrecks like the Mars with photogrammetric methods.

    • @suit1337
      @suit1337 Před 5 měsíci

      @@MrBizteck there are plenty of hendheld laser scanners out there, that are way superior to photogrammetry - it is more a price topic, since a camera + photogrammetry software is way cheaper than a good scanner
      the Shining 3D EinScan-HX for example costs about 15k, the also very good EinScan-H comes for about 4k and - the Fujifilm X-H1 camera they used costs just under 2k

      It’s a tribute to Slic3er’s memory handling and internal data structures that it can handle such unusually big models, especially using Prusa-brewed advanced functions. 👍

      @slavkosky Před 5 měsíci +1

      I can only imagine how long each piece took to slice. Anything approaching 1m polys makes it a long process for most slicers. I can only wonder if an improvement to handling high-poly meshes is coming to Prusa Slicer after this project 🤔

  • @girak2
    @girak2 Před 5 měsíci +1

    I'm surprised you all didn't use any dowels with the cut feature of PrusaSlicer. Are the tolerances just not good enough for a model that large?

    • @TGWMS
      @TGWMS Před 5 měsíci

      This feauture is not availabe in slicer when I cut and then glued together this model.

  • @ThisOldChris

    What is laminate? I only get laminate flooring when I google it.

    • @TGWMS
      @TGWMS Před 5 měsíci

      Laminate is used with fabric for boats or bumpers and other laminated products
