    Had an R85 Anderson a couple of years ago. Had close to 1500 rds through it before I blew it up with a squib. Never oiled it once. Washed up nicely with soap and water! p.s. my bad on the squib. :( not the rifle! Also, customer service is A1.

    5k rounds isn't much of a "torture" test. BCM's "Filty 14" is north of 32k and still trucking.
    Lucky Gunner also ran steel cased ammo testing that went over 10k.

      Terry Gardner Yes, she knew what she was talking about. Yes, the product seems impressive and I might order that for an upper but just because she has a ring on doesn't mean she's married. I've seen plenty of women do this at work. It is a common diversion tactic to avoid getting hit on. Chances are she actually is married but it doesn't hurt to look, just don't touch.

Now I know, I still love my "non-RF85 Anderson AR". It shoots real nice. I'm really glad about the website upgrade also.

    I saw another AR-15 by a company called Layke Tactical that was frozen in a chunk of ice, broken out of and still worked without cleaning it or doing anything do it aside from shooting it. This is AFTER they dirtied it with mud, dragged it on a dirt road tethered to a car and it worked fine. Seems they're trying to do similar miracles with this. I'm interested in both Layke and this. They seem to do durable SHTF-oriented AR-15s.

It was very impressive how the coated one held up. This video was from the company who developed the coating and is not linked to Anderson. It was a really informative video. I have one of these rifles.
    I never heard of them before i bought one.
    I bought it used at a Hunting Camping dealership called Gander Mountain.
    They told me the same thing. I never need to lube it, just wipe it down with a cloth.
    All guns need to be cleaned.
    But some can last longer dirty then others.
    I bought a cheaper AR 15 later after the Anderson Arms one.
    My new one is a cheaper Smith and Wesson AR 15.
    It cost $500 new.
    The Anderson Arms AR 15 was $900 used.
    Many have told me the Smith And Wesson not as good a AR 15 as most.
    They just made some cheap ones so the man with not as much money can get an AR 15.
    I like them, but i still prefer AK 47.
    I also like the SKS.

  • @GioGuitarDude

    I also have heard From a couple other companies that they did not have a such thing as having to break in the barrel. 6 out of the 8 I talked to said if it's necessary for you to have to make sure you at least shoot that many rounds through a rife it could represent a possible time you may have to shoot it to make sure the barrel has no defects in it. Sound like they may be nervous about there own product. Nothing against Anderson because i no how there are. My wife loves the 2 she has and we have not had any problems with them.

  • @boss350z5
    @boss350z5 Před 5 lety

    i just built my wife a DMR (She's getting into presicion shooting) and I used an Anderson lower, O also built a dedicated .22lr AR about 6months ago. Got both lowers for less than 100 bucks. I don't think the DDs are worth the money either. I wasn't commenting on Anderson's quality, I was simply saying that there's no way in hell it's worth $1600 bucks... especially when you can build one for half that price the way you want it... I use Aero m4e1s and BCM lowers as well. Now BCM complete rifles, or POFs for example, those are viable at that price range. In my opinion of course.

      Hmm that's strange for sure,.You have to morter the charging handle to try to extract it? . I've seen where shooting steel can cause brass do do like that its just kinda rare as compared to the actual steel getting stuck. Try running a cleaning rod up the barrel from the muzzle, attach a chamber brush to it and use a power drill and bore bath it while you scrub the chamber out good. If you've shoot a good bit of steel cased stuff you could have excessive carbon build up in the throat area or in the chamber itself and the brass is hanging up on that ... other than that I don;t know what to tell ya to try other than Anderson themselves,..but try that first. You shouldnt have any issues with brass other than that,.. that I can think of,...I hope that helps

    Does anyone own a RF85? I wanna know if it lives up to it's hype.
    Also, does it need to be retreated after so many rounds?

    • @tray22
      @tray22 Před 7 lety +8

      I own one myself and have built 3 others. They do live up to the hype. The amount of heat and the speed that the bolt moves are noticeable different. Very easy to clean and you can actually see the oil building up on the surface as the gun heats up. It is a very cool product. As far as cost they mentioned in the video, build it with the upper RF85 and don't need the lower in RF85. I have done 4 setups including my own and all function flawless. Anderson is a great company and you can call them and someone actually answers. As far as accuracy, I get 3/4" groups with mine at 100 yards and Black Hill 77gr ammo.
      Hope this helps :)

    • @tray22
      @tray22 Před 7 lety +2

      I can say with certainty that the way RF85 works, it doesn't wear off as you say. Its not something at a surface level like spraying oil on a gun. It is actually within the metal so as the gun wears it keeps excreting the oil. I have had thousands of rounds through mine and it still is giving off oil as is the other anderson builds I have done. Unless you have tested the RF85 product and found otherwise I would be careful stating that the oil wears off.
      Just a little bit of additional info on RF85.. It is used in the medical and racing industry because of the very same properties that make it perfect for firearms. There are more extensive tests conducted for the racing industry than for the firearms and none point to the product wearing off at any point.
      Just food for thought.

    So what's up with shooting 400 to 500 hundred rounds through the rifle if there is no such thing as having to breaking the barrel in.

    Those slab sided handguards... ugh. Oh, she did say keymod and maybe M-Lok later. I respect Anderson for making decent quality ARs at a price point that budget conscious shooters can afford but damn boys and girls, time to write new software routines for your milling machines! Even UTG is putting out slim, lightweight, decent looking handguards at value prices.

    if you want reliability of an AK, don't want to clean BCGs or any part of the chamber, you don't need to spend $1700 to do so. just change your di system for a piston system.
    that maybe why elite units like the USMC and the French Foreign Legion are all going to the HK 416.

    Does she come with the rifle lol. Just kidding. The RF85 treatment makes me a little curious but still find it hard to believe it requires no oil. I would still had a very light film of oil.
