Ive never seen a better alcohol marker tutorial
Thank you so much! That's a huge compliment!
Nobody:
Absolutely nobody:
Me: Ight now I gotta go buy 300 markers I’m never going to use
It's pretty expensive too xd
@@midnightskyze9075 I know 😀🤌
Lol, that was me a while ago, only then it was 'let's buy 345 markers that Ican't even use properly yet'. Knowing full well that I wasn't too good at wet media such as paints and watercolours back in my high school art class... And later I was like 'ooh, did this brand just release an additional 45-piece pastel set of them?' And after swatching ALL of them, the colours are just to pretty to leave them just lying about. So I had better learn how to actually make pretty art with them: I love alcohol markers as a medium, but I really need to choose my colours better.
I just spent forty dollars on them and I’ll never use em 😩
I loved you art style
Thank you!
@@SketchingwithRabbits hey so, I don't have the money to buy it as in our currency it costs 600. How to Do it with cheap normal paper?
I’ve always had a problem with markers tysm!
You're very welcome! I'm glad it could help!
These are extremely useful tips and some I was not aware of. Very much appreciated! 👍🙂🌟

SUBSCRIBED!

Aw, thank you so much Christina! I'm glad you enjoyed my artwork and video! 😊

Lineart for this drawing please!! I absolutely adore it! ❤️❤️
Absolutely! I have a video covering that topic coming soon! Thank you!
Yes!! I absolutely love this drawing!!
This is great thank u
You're welcome!
Well done! I recently got my first alcohol marker set. I went with the 48ct Ohuhu Brush markers. Love them. I also picked up Arrtx skin tones. I really appreciate the blending techniques you've shown. Sometimes my shadow lines are way too harsh. But it sounds like I need to make sure the base is still wet before applying.👍 Thanks again! I wish you good fortune as an art influencer here😁
Thank you so much! I hope you have lots of fun playing around with alcohol markers and I'm glad you liked the tips I shared! Thank you again for your well wishes - I hope to see you around again!
@@SketchingwithRabbits Hey I didn't see your response! Tyvm 👍😁
I love ❤️
Thank you!
Thank u
You're welcome!
Obsessed with your art style! Could you do some tutorials on using only 1-2 shades for each area? Drawing so much inspo from you but my colour supply is quite limited
Thank you so much! I think those are great ideas for tutorials and I'll definitely add that to my list! I remember when I first started, I had a very limited color supply too, so I will definitely start planning a video for that. Happy drawing!
Could you do tutorial on how to achieve glowing effects with markers and watercolors
Sure thing! I'll add it to my list of tutorials. I'm thinking it could be a mini tutorial - thank you for the suggestion!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome! Hope it was helpful!
It was :D
Just got a huge set of markers a while ago but I got addicted to watercolor paint. Tried using my copics and had no idea how to blend properly. Thanks.
You're welcome! Hope it helped!
Can you use these techniques for felt tip pens? thanks!
Oh my goodness the number of markers Nicole has! I am in awe-
Really helpful tips as always ^^
Glad they were helpful! I definitely have grown a collection now (which I'm super grateful for), but I remember in the beginning I used to purchase Copics one at a time at Michael's with their 40% coupon! 😂
@@SketchingwithRabbits 😂that definitely sounds like a good deal that I need! I don't think I am old enough to buy copics from online yet....the art materials in my country are pretty pricey, but I have alcohol markers and yes! I am looking forward to your future videos!🙆♀️❤️
Also, would you recommend watercolour pencils if I would like to try watercolour?
I think watercolor pencils are a fun way to get started with watercolors because they offer more precision and you can build up the color. However, I do think the process of using watercolors and watercolor pencils are a little different, so if you want to dive more into watercolors like palettes and paints, I'd suggest starting with that first. But if you just want to experiment, watercolor pencils are really fun to use!
@@SketchingwithRabbits I see.. Thank you so much for the valuable advice! I am just scared to widen my scope of art because I am scared to mess up and I am not really "focusing" on a single skill... I have alcohol markers but I struggle to use them... I am okay with not drawing on marker paper and I enjoy using the alcohol markers but at the same time I wish I could get more art supplies... I feel trying diverse ways of drawing will give me more motivation, but at the same time I feel scared to make mistakes...
Maybe I could just play around but I am a little bit scared people will say "oh kit you're just playing you aren't being serious with your art" and that kills me. I am watching new artists and trying to see what they say about art and what not and still waiting for a new video from you... But I get so worried about not being professional and I don't really know what to do to remove that toxicity and negativity within me... It's like I have ideas but I am scared 😭
I still struggle with my "perfectionism" when drawing, especially for youtube and social media. It's definitely challenging in this day and age because we often compare ourselves to so many people, even if we don't know them personally. I tend to avoid sketching or drawing anything I'm unfamiliar with (hence why my channel is full of women) because I'm afraid it will turn out "ugly" and not to my expectation. I, unfortunately, expect everything I draw at first to be good, which is definitely not the case. So, when the art piece/drawing turns out bad, I often get de-motivated from continuing on.
It's still something I'm working on, but I hope that sharing my experience was able to help you understand you're not alone in that feeling. I think progress is progress, and if you're working towards a goal, whether it be to improve in art in general, or improve in a specific medium (or anything!), and you put in the time, then you're doing great!
There's a video I watched recently by Mark Crilley here on CZcams about resolutions that creative people should make this year. It was a really insightful video and I highly recommend you check it out!
I liked your new avatar
Thanks!
Love your work, girl!! This is a fabulous drawing and these tips are super helpful! I recently bought arteza skin tone markers and maaaaan, did I have trouble blending and avoiding streaks especially on darker skin 😫 Do you think maybe you could make a skin color blending tutorial of various skin colors as part 3 of your blending series?? :O (Also, showing how to add blush at the same time?) That’d be super awesome if you could! Thank you for this great video btw! ❤️
P.S. Happy Thanksgiving!! 🤗
Thank you so much! (And happy thanksgiving!) I'm glad you found these tips helpful and creating a skin color blending tutorial as a part 3 sounds like a great idea! I do have a mini tutorial on how I add blush to skin, but I can definitely add it into the next blending tutorial video too. Thanks so much for the sweet comment - I really appreciate it! 💛
@@SketchingwithRabbits Aaaahhh! That’ll be amazing! I’ll look forward to it. Thank you, Kiui ☺️🌷 and yes, I have watched that video too!! Honestly really love your tutorials 😫 They help me a lot!
I also hope are doing well! Stay warm, dear ✨
hi! I lovee your tips and it really helped me out alot!
also, may I ask white type of white gel pen you we're using at the end of the video? *hopefully you notice this* thanks!!
Hello! Thank you! I'm happy they were helpful! The white gel pen I used was the Uni-ball signo white gel pen - the link to the product is in the description under "materials" 😊
Can you please do hair tutorial, from drawing hair to the process of coloring( ladies hair) Thanks
Absolutely! I'm working on it right now, but it may be a while before it comes out. I like my tutorials to be well thought out and thorough!
First off I think your voice is very pleasing to listen to. I’m new to the world of alcohol markers but have been doing humorous illustration and cartoons in many types of mediums. But I feel that markers maybe speedier for doing greeting cards than pen and ink with watercolors. Maybe you can do a video regarding how alcohol markers don’t play well with certain black India inks or water-based inks. And how to get more realistic effects on skin tone and hair using markers. I’m sorry I’m new to your channel maybe you’ve done those already?
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy listening to my voice (I'm a little self conscious about it 😅) Next week, I'm releasing a video on creating skin tones & blush using alcohol markers, but it's definitely more on the stylized side. I'll definitely write down your suggestions for future videos! I've found only certain fine liners work with alcohol markers, which is typically why I color first and line after. However, there are some exceptions and I can definitely create a video covering the topic. 😊
@@SketchingwithRabbits I know the “Tombo Fudenosuke Brush Pens once dry can play nicely with alcohol markers. In fact the great MAD magazine artist “Tom Richmond” used the combination on a piece he did on Bruce Springsteen and he said they did well together. You can probably see it on his Instagram page. A 2-pack is only $5.96 on Amazon
That's great to know! I'll be sure to check it out and when I make the video, I'll try to include the Tombo pens as well!
I would like you to make a drawing eyes tutorial and a body types tutorial
but I love this tutorial too
Absolutely! It's definitely on my to do list - hopefully I can get them out soon!
what markers did you use? What brand?
All the materials used in this video are listed and linked in the description! 😊
Often I use the tip of a darker color to tip of lighter color but is that bad from my brush tips??
If you touch the tips of the two brush markers together, I do think it could stain your lighter colored brush tips. There is a possibility of it also continuously releasing the ink from the stained nib onto the paper. However, if you're blending a lighter color on top of a darker marker, it shouldn't bleed onto the nib.
would you say that mixed media paper works?
I think mixed media paper could work - it'll probably just soak up more ink from the marker since mixed media paper can also be used for other wet media. Hope this helps!
Excuse me, what colors should i have? If i can't have 1 set marker.
I like doodling, draw a monsters just like Vexx.
Any colors from any set works! I usually don't use markers from only one set - I mix and match from different sets as long as the colors are what I want to blend.
Hey, what kind of pen did she use to do the whites in the end??
The white pen is a "Uniball Signo White Gel Pen" which should be linked in the description under "Materials" 😊
@@SketchingwithRabbits thanks. 😁
Is watercolor okay for alcohol markers or vellum board paper? (I don't have money to buy an alcohol marker paper 😭) i want to know any alternatives🥺
Watercolor paper or vellum bristol paper is fine too. The only downside is they would soak up more ink from the marker since they're made to be absorbent. :)
@@SketchingwithRabbits oohhh!!! Thank youuu, any alternatives?
Does mixed media paper work with marker?
Yes! I used to use it for both my marker and watercolor pieces, but the only downside to using mixed media paper is that it will absorb more ink than marker/illustration paper since it can be used for watercolors as well. Hope that makes sense & helps!
@@SketchingwithRabbits tysm!
I hope my question isn't too late for you to see. If I am a complete beginner, where should I start with alcohol markers to not get discouraged? I obviously couldn't colour the piece you coloured in this video as it is too advanced. But I'm not sure what's the step down from this.
I try to respond to all comments across all my videos! I have two other marker tutorial videos previous to this one called "How to Blend with Alcohol Markers" and "How to Color Smoothly with Alcohol Markers" which cover more general tips. I hope those videos, examples and tips help with learning the process of using alcohol markers.
I think learning how to use markers, even starting as a complete beginner, comes with practice. Hopefully the tips I share in those videos will help you see ways to get started, such as trying out some methods I use with your markers in a rectangle shape instead of on a character or drawing. Getting used to the medium and practicing will help with improvement! I hope this was helpful to you and I wish you the best of luck in your marker learning journey!
@@SketchingwithRabbits thank you! I have watch those viodes now and have experimented more with my markers. :)
Is it possible to buy the line art that you made in order to practice?
I have coloring pages available on my etsy for practice! I'm planning on releasing this lineart too! 😊 There's a link in the description!
@@SketchingwithRabbits that would be great, I really like this one. I will check out your Etsy store
Awesome! Thank you so much! I'll be uploading this artwork and a few others within the week, so I hope you'll keep an eye out for it!
@@SketchingwithRabbits Yessssss!! I see it on your Etsy now woohooo!!!
Thank you so much for ordering!
alcohol markers shouldn't be standing up because the other side of the marker will dry up
Yeah, typically I have my markers laying flat in a box. Most markers come standing upright in their packaging, but you could always turn them on their side for storage.
