  • Mount Nemrut is 2130m high. Its summit has a large number of statues erected around what is assumed to be a Royal tomb from the 1st century BCE built by King Antiochus of Commagene. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The route there is beautiful, with blossom just starting on the trees. At the visitor centre they gave us a nice flat camp-spot (we promised to have dinner at the restaurant). Part of the mount was still covered in snow. The first snow we have seen for many years. The statues are very impressive, particularly with still some snow around. In the afternoon, the sun lit the Western terrace. The next morning we visited the Eastern terrace. The route down the mountain was beautiful. This is a beautiful part of Turkey.
