  • Our next stop (on our way to the border with Georgia) was Ani. Ani is a ruined medieval Armenian city. Between 961 and 1045 it was the capital of an Armenian kingdom. Ani is a widely recognised cultural, religious and national heritage symbol for Armenians. As it lies very close to the border, you can actually see Armenian border-posts and flags on the other side of the river. We enjoyed strolling through the tremendous amount of ruins and could stay the night at the parking of the visitor centre.
