How to use a steaming basket for cooking vegetables, or even for softening up pears or apples to make baby food.

I'm over 30 and had to look this up so don't worry everyone you're not as bad off as me LOL
I am 51 and I had to look it up. I have had this in my cabinet for years and I never knew what it was used for untill now.
Yeah 38 and I just looked it up
Same..im 32 lol
34 🥴😂 mama didn’t teach me this. ♥️
@@sherrybedwell1137 me too! 😂😂😂 I asked my children where it was and they had to show me 🤦🏾♀️
As a grown adult I felt stupid having to look this up but I'm grateful for your video.
That makes two of us! :-)
Yup me too lol
Same here
Include me in this group. I just purchased a Farberware set and it came with this device. I thought it was some kind of fan to fan away heat and steam of some kind new cooking method. .LOL Thanks for the video.
You are far from alone...
9 years later, your video is still helping clueless people 👍😅❤️ thanks a million
This video is still so good. I’m 27 years old and just now learning. How to use a steamer basket lol. I’m trying to eat healthier and I tend to go crazy with salt and butter when I sauté veggies so I’m trying it this way along with some shrimp and fish. Thanks so much for making this video short and thorough!
Honestly thank you so much! 23 years old but needed this validation that i was doing it right
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who had to look up instructions for these. Thank you for posting this.
As a bachelor who does nothing more than fry up a good breakfast...this was very helpful. I will finally add some veggies to my diet haha. Thank you.
I decided to steam some crab for the first time and saw one on a blog, there was no clear indication on how to use this contraption so this helped so much!
I'm 63 and needed your help. Thank you
I use this item at least 1-2x a week czcams.com/users/postUgkxQJTPaJo-WI_mBKJOtoUVgCf0fPy2Wh90 Everything except the base is dishwasher safe, which makes for easy clean-up. If it finishes cooking the rice before you're ready to serve it, I recommend tossing in a small amount of water (especially if you're cooking the least amount possible) to prevent the rice at the bottom from drying out. The vegetable steamer feels a bit like a hit or miss with cooking times, and sometimes the color from the vegetables leaks down onto the rice. So, I prefer to steam my vegetables separately. Overall, great item for the cost. I've been using mine for over 8 months and am VERY happy with it!
Bought one again two days ago. It was $4. Boiling vegetables leeches the vitamins and minerals, and so I wanted to find a better way. In the past two days since buying it, I am re-appreciating how the flavor is enhanced, how my food isn't soggy, and how easy it is to reheat leftovers. You can put several things in the same basket. For lunch I had rice, a chicken thigh and a sliced carrot put in raw, but it cooked beautifully while the other food heated. The pans are not as dirty, so easier to clean. The basket is very easy to clean too. I am looking for more creative ways to use it now.
Omg I have one of these thought it was strainer 💀 but I was looking up videos for steaming veggies for my baby and I’m so glad I found this now I know 😭😂
I’ve had one of these for years that someone gave me and never knew what it was. This was super helpful, thank you! Also got a chuckle when you ended it with “the end.”😊
I was today years old when I figured this out. you’re out here saving lives nine years later😂😂😂 Me and my dumplings thank you! LOL
Newly married woman with a husband that loved steam broccoli, you're a life saver because I've never used one of these. Always just shoved it in the back of the cabinet. 😂
wow ive been using this as a strainer lol
Me too! Got it at a garage sale ad pleased to see it has another use. :)
Kenesha Davis I
Kenesha Davis 😱😂😂😂🤣🤣
Me too!!😂😂😂
God your dumb
So grateful for this video. I thought that the strainer doesnt have to go inside the pot, rather than stay open to full capacity over the edges of the pot. It kwpt falling in and i was thinkin what a piece of junk but then found this video and lol turns out it has to be this way. Haha. Thank you!!!
So I've had this flower steamer "thing" in my collection of lids and really didn't know what is was for about 4 years. One day I cleaned out my lid drawer and found it and have been using it to make tea.
I put my tea bags in it then fold it up in a small pot. Honestly that's what I thought it was made to do, hold the tea bags at the bottom of the pan so it could allow the water to pass through them. Now I know the real reason for it
Thanks for your video
Oh, interesting
Thanks for the video i just bought a steamer cause i was just told its healthier to steam my veggies. wasn't sure how to use it though. it was adorable how you said the end at the end.. :)
L O L you’re killing me with “the end” I never know how to finish my videos either but this was really great and informative thank you
Thankyou I'm getting back into basic cooking again after being lazy , feeling healthier with better food
Thanks for the vid I bought a steamer basket and realized I have no idea how to use this thing!
Thanks very much! You have such a calm presence!
This video was more useful then my mom trying to explain how to cook to me. Thank you, I’m now prepared for adulthood.
I needed this video. I am glad you posted it. I was most definitely wondering how to use it without over doing it. Thank You!!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I've had the steamer basket for years. I won't tell you how long 😉. I had no idea how to use it. This video made it so simple! Thank you!
0:48 "of your, of your... thing.." aww that's so sweet. Very endearing.
thank you, Janna ! I saw these at the store and was wondering how to use it. So much cheaper than buying a steamer pot in pot like I used to have years ago :)
Yay! I just bought one of these because I'm cooking Thanksgiving dinner and needed an extra steamer! Thank you !
I just bought one. This video convinced me how easy it would be to start eating veggie dinners every night. thank you
I just bought one from TJMaxx (FreshWare Steam Basket from Evriholder Products). I spent about 30 min trying to figure out how to even open it up. Thank you for this video!! Now I'm ready to steam!!
You have the most lovely, soothing voice ever
Thank you so much. I just bought my first one. And I didn’t know that it was supposed to sit down in the pot. So that’s where I got confused. So thank you, for taking the time, to do this video for us☺️.
Jut today my brother called and asked me how to use it. He couldn't open it at first and he is super intelligent. I suggested that he look it up on CZcams. He did and now he feels silly. I said no worries big brother, you got this.
The way I’ve been struggling over a year and the answer was right here. Thank you!
I'm going to buy a steaming basket soon, and your video has walked me through the process very reassuringly. Thank you ! :)
I’ve had one of these for three years and have used it in a few weird ways that never really worked out. My brain finally had the idea to watch this. Yay!
I felt ridiculous looking up this video but I had no knowledge of how to open the darn thing. Thank you for sharing this 🙏
Lmaooo my mother in law gave me this thing 2 years ago and I haven't used it because I didn't know how to open it so here I am lmaooo

Thank you! I received one of these in an estate auction and was totally clueless as to what it was! I figured it was a fancy tray for deviled eggs or something. Hahahaha!
At first I felt like a loser for having to look this up, but the 694,978 views on this video made me feel better 😃

You have such a nice speaking voice. You made me smile within ;) Thanks for the info !
One of these was in the new house when I moved. Thanks for explaining it.
Lord I was doing this so wrong. Lol
I thought you covered the veggies with water and then pull the basket at the end to drain water lol ok....im done.🤦🏽♀️ Thanks for this!!!
😂😂😂
Interestingly enough, I use these with my standard 12" fry pan and even though it doesn't seal, it still steams fantastically.
Thank you. I've never used a vegetable steamer so this is really interesting. ❤️♥️❤️♥️

Thank you! Great video!
Thank you

This is a surprisingly good video
Thank you!!!
Thank you, that was very useful.
Thanks for sharing 😊
Very nice video, honestly had no idea how to use it 😅😂
Do have to say that salt doesnt make it boil faster, it will actually boil slower! Salt makes it harder for water to leave as vapor so it raises the boiling point of the water, thus making it boil slower.
It will taste way better tho! 🤤
I’m 31 had to look this up (never thought I would have to 😆) but my baby needs them steam veggies
Very helpful
Thanks for the explanation. I didn’t know how to use it or how much water 🙏
