Most of these are bang bang plays and some of them were the correct call. As an umpire myself I would've made the same call on most plays. Yes relay overturned some of them but it's a hell of a lot easier to make the call in slow-mo than it is in real time.
Almost all of these are super close bang bang plays. Quite a few of these are the right call from the umps POV (thankfully we have replays to either confirm or overturn their calls). “Wtf Ump” is a bit much for this video.
Totally agree. Easy to make the call with 12 angles and super slo mo. Just once I would like to see the clowns that post these videos go out and call a game. And do it the way we have to: one umpire covering the entire field from behind the plate because there aren’t enough to cover all the games.
Why is the Braves/Astros one even on here? The correct call was made and even upheld by video replay. Plus almost all of these are ridiculously close and you can't fault a human being for missing the call.
Not bad umpire videos for the most part, definitely deserved a second look. But I can’t help but wonder about how many called involved Joe West in one way or another.
on that first play, the umpire is in exact perfect position and didn't call him safe for no reason. there's no grounds at all for an overturn in any angle we're shown.
4:34 was not a bad call at all. he was out by a mile. That was one of the eaisest calls to make that was bang bang. Also probs to the umps that overturn. I personaly play baseball and love the sport, bu hate when I'm safe by a mile and I get called out. example: I hit the top of the wall and I was sliding into third I had easily made it to the bag, but I was called out.
Most people don't realize how hard it is to make these plays, your eyes can't see in slow motion so your forced to quickly make a decision. I'm not saying it's an exception to all calls but close ones are more legible
Can anyone explain the DeGrom not-double at 2:00? Cannot see any moment where he leaves the bag and can’t see any reason for the out call. Obviously this is a collection of bad calls but I can’t see anything that would make him out here??
it's not shown on the close-up replay, but it does appear that as he popped up his foot on the bag hopped up just for a tiny moment. this is the sort of call that can ONLY be made using replay. if I'm making this call I "safe" him even if I saw the little hop, because I cannot be sure that his foot actually completely broke contact with the base and that the tag was definitely on him at that exact moment. this out cannot be called without 100% certainty, which only replay can provide.
8:17 fields umps = *RIGHT* NY umps =wrong. *SHOULDN'T* have been reviewed because the Mariners were out of challenges, and even if they *DID* have a challenge left, it was up to the umpires to decide to review the call, which, because the A's were trailing there was *NO* reason to change the safe call.
i rarely dislike videos and this is one of them. half of these are bang bang, and like a quarter of them were plays the umpire couldnt see because bodies were in the way. mfs will bitch about the ump for doing the best he can while they get ultra high defintion instant review footage of every angle
3:07 How in the world is an umpire supposed to make that an out call? He beats the throw and the ump has no view of the glove when he over-slides the bag. The only somewhat egregious ones to me are a couple at first base, but most of those were called off the bag, which they were half a second after catching the ball so its understandable. There are a handful of bad umps out there, but all of them are human.
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY UMPIRES in the majors??? There should be a new ruleing that if a player thinks it was a bad call, THE BATTER HAS THE RIGHT TO CALL FOR A RE-PLAY VIDEO REVIEW??? If the review is in the the batter's favor, the call shall be over turned. AND if an umpire is over turned three times in the game, THE UMPIRE WILL BE TOSSED FROM THE GAME!!!!! IF you agree, give a thumbs up click...
WTF is clickbait. Should say ten minutes of plays so close you need super slo-mo to make the call. I don't know how umpires are supposed to make the call at first base where you're talking about milliseconds. I like the fact that the teams can challenge to try to get to the absolute truth of what really happened with these amazing athletes.
What kind of stupid title is this video? All of these plays are either insanely close or the right call. Who runs this account? They need a cognitive test

Came here to say the exact same thing. It's not always easy to see and hear two things at one time
Almost all of these are super close bang bang plays. Quite a few of these are the right call from the umps POV (thankfully we have replays to either confirm or overturn their calls). “Wtf Ump” is a bit much for this video.

Agreed. Top All Sports is delusional.
Completely agree. Bang bang that without IR they would be considered good calls. Easy to make the call with super slow mo.
Agree
@@2yutes what umpire shortage are you talking about lol

also SF-Rockies at 5:48... U2 called him out because he was out and replay confirmed he was out
Ikr
Replay is really breaking some refs hearts....
I love it!!!
4:34 I don't understand, he made the right call
Edit: damn a handful of these were the right calls
I had to rewatch this one again too, but it was a home run. You can see the ball bounces back off the wall above the yellow line for like half a frame
@Nahx ohhhh i didnt notice that. I thought they meant the tag
9:08 best part of the video
Announcer: And he’s out.
Other announcer: YEAH HE IS!!!
Not bad umpire videos for the most part, definitely deserved a second look. But I can’t help but wonder about how many called involved Joe West in one way or another.
The play in the world series was correct
In 2019?
Lmao the Mets/Phillies one had 2 bad calls on the same play
Suggestion: great classic plays... No plays after 2000
5:54 albums got his fingertips so he was out
Some of these are really close by like .15 seconds some of these are bad but some of them are hard to call
2:23 MAN CAN WE LOOK AT THAT MUSCLES FROM THE UMP???? DAMN MLB MUST CHECK HIM FOR STEROIDS HE LOOKS EVEN BETTER THAN THE PLAYERS HS!
I agree he’s jacked
2:21 ok even i could tell he’s out
Can't get closet than 1:20...not bad umping to call it either way.
So bang bang calls that are reviewed and the right call is made after the review is a WTF umpire moment?
on that first play, the umpire is in exact perfect position and didn't call him safe for no reason. there's no grounds at all for an overturn in any angle we're shown.

He slide and popped off the bag as the tag was still on him. So he was off the bag and tagged out

How was 4:46 a bad call?
Why is nobody taking about how good of a play dansby made
i rarely dislike videos and this is one of them.

5:20 para quien juegas?
MLB players do MORE splits than gymnasts
We can all agree yuli gurrliel has the worst hair ever
instant replay is the worst play in BB
A lot of these are so close slow motion barely shows it. I wouldn't call most of these BAD calls....just wrong.

I agree with the other comments here how is this horrible umpiring? They are mostly if not all close or bang bang plays

you think these are bad calls there are umps in my league that think if you hit third and run through it you score 45 runs
I wouldn't call most of the calls bad ... they are some pretty close plays ... umpires don't have a slow motion review before they make the call.
In my opinion some of the calls I thought was right
That call in the World Series wasnt a bad call. He was clearly out
why always mets in pic but never vid

Umpires need to do better by getting calls right the first time
Why don't you put the gear on and show everyone how it's done?
