For those who don't know why maliketh covers his face. The description of the claw says that it deflects the power of the black blade, not parry. So it's essentially throwing the power of the blade back at maliketh. You can also see that when he uses it, it actually damages maliketh. Pretty interesting how Ranni thought of such a counter, and to give it to Rykard of all people.

    • @sleven1160

I mean it's a pretty logical contingency given that Maliketh was almost certain to come after her, as for why Rykard he was opposing the Erdtree even before he gave himself to the serpent, so it makes sense that she'd include him in her conspiracy.
I think most interesting is that it implies Ranni was on poor terms, or at the very least didn't trust, Radahn. As his reputation for might would have made him the more obvious choice for a champion of the two brothers had he been on side.

He held back the stars, halting her 'destiny' and limiting her magical powers. Her quest is at a standstill unless you kill him, and she doesn't even comment on his death. Oh, it's an actual parry. I thought it meant deflect like the radius attack or something and I was bad at it.

Would it be possible to get a showcase of your ingame settings, and maybe pc settings outside the game? Game looks buttery smooth, and im interested to know if you have done anything about the input lag.

If you can time him well enough to use this item, you've already learned the boss fight enough that you might as well just beat him without it at that point.
