“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life - and her father’s crown - in jeopardy. “The Little Mermaid” is directed by Oscar® nominee Rob Marshall (“Chicago,” “Mary Poppins Returns”) with a screenplay by two-time Oscar nominee David Magee (“Life of Pi,” “Finding Neverland”). The songs feature music from multiple Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin”) and lyrics by Howard Ashman, and new lyrics by three-time Tony Award® winner Lin-Manuel Miranda. I'm glad they highlighted Howard Ashman in this clip! He really was the creative driving force behind what made the animated Little Mermaid so great and revolutionary to Disney Animation. I recommend watching Disney's documentary on him, "Howard", to really understand why he was so amazing.

My favorite disney remake of them all so far! I had little hopes, especially for the iconic "part of your world" and then Halle started to sing and I was MESMERIZED. She was a perfect cast for the role, and made it better than I would've ever imagined

As a testament to how amazing Halle's voice is, I'm a middle-aged guy who is not really a fan of Disney or stories like this, but the moment I heard her singing, and found myself with tears in my eyes, I have been anticipating this movie and excited for it like I can't believe. I've watched every trailer, every reaction, I cry every time I hear her sing, I am so excited for this movie. And I gotta say, after just recently watching the clip of Melissa McCarthy singing, there are 2 superstar singers in this movie!
Sadly the only good thing from this movie is only a handfull of the songs
I hope you enjoyed the film. I’ve seen it twice in cinemas so far, the second time trying it in IMAX. The first time I heard Halle Bailey’s Part of Your World was in the cinema…and I was left stunned, with tears rolling down my cheeks, by the end of it. She was incredible. The movie itself is a treasure, especially among the many just-average films made today! Reminded me so much of the Disney Renaissance films.
P.S. Melissa has sung with Barbra Streisand before! 😊

Lin-Manuel has this crazy way of composing drums, horns, acoustic guitar, double bass, piano, and occasionally violin music and adding a little hip hop to it to make a bop, like We Don’t Talk About Bruno and Your Welcome 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

My favourite is “Vanessa’s Trick” because Vanessa is one of my favourite Disney Villains and they actually got an actress to play her, unlike The Little Mermaid Live!
I don't know if the people that were supposed to be overseeing the creative decisions were locked away in the basement somewhere, but this is not music appropriate for a beloved children's movie.

The difference between Jodi’s and Halle’s singing would be Halle’s version making people cry - I thought people were being a bit dramatic saying a song could make them cry, but all of a sudden I had tears in my eyes without even knowing why. Yes Jodi is the OG and people reconcile w/ that, but Halle’s version is admittedly better w/ drawing out people’s emotions which makes the film.
She has fully explored the potential of this song❤
I didn't cry at all from either version. Plus how the hell can you be emotional during a song if you already know the emotions that will occur during the singing?

I love how when they say “your gonna miss the girl” in the remake it was interpreted it as Scuttle getting the lyrics wrong which is definitely something Scuttle would do

I’m curious why they didn’t use some of the new songs in the Broadway version. That If Only quartet is so magical. I’m trying so hard not to listen to the soundtrack because I want to hear the new songs in the theater.

Also The lion king. I love "Shadowland" so much, everyone did, but they didn't take it into the movie.
