Tried a slightly longer format for this one, let me know what you think! I am so exited to make this Victorian project, the next part will be the corset!
I enjoy both long and short (sorry not helpful lol.) The lace sewing is so aesthetic, so I think this kind of project is very satisfying in long format.
Beautiful video and Victorian underwear Lilja! I love your Moomin mug too 😊 When I lived in Iceland, everyone had one from iittala haha. I find it very funny we both featured the Authentic Victorian Dressmaking Techniques book in our videos, what a great coincidence. P.S. The lovely comment you left on my resources video unfortunately got deleted by CZcams because of the link (even though you spaced the sections out) so I couldn't reply sadly, but I appreciate it greatly nonetheless!
Wait, you've lived in Iceland? when? I lived there too! the Dressmaking Techniques Book is sooo helpful! Aw at least you got to see it before it dissappered!
@@VBirchwood I am half Icelandic & lived there 2016/17! We would have been there at the same time! Já ég tala íslensku! Samt er ekki nóg góð að nota henni 😂

There's just something about sewing on a machine that's over 100 years old. Well done with all the lovely work. And good for you for experimenting with video formats. It's a good fit for you. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown
@@LiljaHusmo I have a modern machine (mostly metal, pre-computers). And honestly I sew thinking that I'm always about to break something. Plus I'm not great with the foot control. It's a bit hard on the arm after a while, but I much prefer the hand-crank speed.
Very sensible to check for fit as most of us are above the average height at the time the book was published. Really good machine work, the hand cranked machines are easier to use if you are left handed. Birdy
Thank you! I had to go back in and shorten the top after I made it as I’m actually quite short, I can imagine controlling the fabric if you’re left Handed would be easier!
It looks stunning! The whole videos is very beautiful. Just one thing: I would appreciate it, if you could show the combinations as a whole for one shot (standing, for example). Otherwise great work. You have gained a subscriber.
Wow! I love your workspace, it looks so light and workable. The combinations came out beautifully, too. Can't wait to see the corset and the rest of it!
I love longer videos. Where did you get your thimble? The combinations are beautiful. Think you did a great job with your hair. Especially since it was 11:00 at night! Love hou!
sorry to reply like a week later hahaha, I went off to google what PPC was haha though I couldn't find out what? "We'll burn that bridge when we get to it" I think I got from a Tumblr post about Malaphors (mixed methaphors) back in the day 😂
@@LiljaHusmo Thanks 😊 I’ve just finished the knickerbockers and am going to try the combinations next. I was just checking that you didn’t have any issues with the pattern shown.
@@lilymcghee8363 i didn't have any issues, but I would always double check that the waist measurement is enough as some of the patterns are youth sized 😊 the combination pattern from the book would make a lovely one-piece style combination! Thank you, my patience sometimes waivers but the thought of cool item of clothing makes me persist 😂
My best haircuts have been after midnight with dollar tree scissors. Looks like that works for you as well!
Thanks, I might save some coins on haircuts after this😂
'7 hours later', LOL. That was incredibly funny. Nice work. Thanks for sharing

Can you explain why you decided not to use the combination pattern that’s given?
I wanted a more gathered top piece than the combination pattern that was in the book so it would look closer to the reference I wanted 😊
