Why Your Bitcoin is Stuck in the Blockchain

- In this video I show you why your bitcoin is stuck in the blockchain and I explain how bitcoin transaction fees and the mempool work. These last few weeks, the mempool has been flooded by ordinal and BRC-20 transactions that have made it very expensive to transact Bitcoin. This has shown us how important it is to start building out infrastructure for layer 2 systems like the lightning network and Blcokstream’s Liquid network so that people will always have the option of quickly and cheaply settling their Bitcoin. A lot of people think that ordinals will be the death of Bitcoin but I think it’s greatly exaggerated. I think it his unlikely that monkey pictures will take down the most robust value settlement protocol ever created - Bitcoin remains undefeated.

Thanks :) glad to help
Great video. Once again…
Thanks Jason 🙏
Unfortunately 99% of what he talked about went right over my head. Wouldn’t know how to do any of this 😞
I keep my crypto on Ledger Nana S Plus wallet
Which part lost you? Here's a tutorial of how to access your Ledger Nano S+ from Electrum (a wallet that lets you replace by fee) support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005161925-Set-up-and-use-Electrum?docs=true
Just found you this morning-- solid content, well paced!
OT question: In light of recent news I want to get a Cold Card. I seem to recall hearing about a new product in the works somewhere, but can't find any info. Can confirm? Trying to avoid being the guy who bought Nano S a couple months before the S + came out. Thanks
They’re releasing a new product called the Q1: store.coinkite.com/store/cc-q1
It does the same thing basically as the mk4 but it has bigger keyboard and QR code scanning. I’ll probably review once it’s out
@@RhettReisman Thanks! A bit embarrassed that I didn't see it on CK's website. Looks interesting, I might wait for it
Fees have been higher than the block reward before, but yes very, very rare.
Back in 2017 I’m assuming?
On Sunday bitcoin was unconfirmed still pending what can I do to make it go through
What kind of wallet did you send from? Do you have the ability to resend yet?
Hi. What a great informative video!!
My btc transaction is now 6 days old and was confirmed within about 30 minutes or so after I did it. The receiver says they can’t confirm in their system that they received it. I have watched your video and lots of others about stuck “unconfirmed” transactions but mine was actually confirmed and I sent them proof. What do you think happened here and how long do you think it will take to move on through? 😊
Thank you!!
Happy to help - it could take a long time, mine was unconfirmed for months, depends how low the fee is and what's happening on the network

@@RhettReisman thank you for your response!!
@@nancygordon6084I cannot express my gratitude enough for the incredible job you have done for me, DQHACK. Thank you once again for the recovery,,
I had btc sent to my cash app and it rejected the transaction so i reversed it to my btc wallet (i was locked out of my wallet at the time of the transaction) and its been pending for over 2 months now idk whatvto di
I had a similar incident happen to myself. I was wondering were you ever able to complete the transaction?
What wallet did you send from? Did this ever get resolved?
Hi , my bitcoin has been 30 days now still pending on blockchain what should I do ?
Around 15 days you should be able to resend the transaction with a new fee. Alternatively you can use the steps in this video (load your hot wallet seed into sparrow / connect your hardware wallet to sparrow) and then do Child Pays for Parent czcams.com/video/Q62NoR2qhiw/video.html&pp=ygUbcmhldHQgY2hpbGQgcGF5cyBmb3IgcGFyZW50
Or if the wallet you're using has Replace by Fee (RBF) or Fee Bump you can add a new fee to send faster

Broke: Mempool
Woke: Memepool
Christ lol
Very interesting! Thanks!
BTW, do you have any recommended resources for learning more about the technical details of Bitcoin (fees, mempool, segwit, etc.)? I feel like I understand the high-level philosophy behind it, but I'm missing a lot of technical understanding.
Yeah check out this book from Andreas Antonopolous - it has a ton of technical detail: amzn.to/32w6HUt
I recommend getting a physical copy / kindle. Better to be able to flip through it as reference vs listening to it on audible.
@@RhettReisman Thank you! I'll check it out.

Hey Rhett my Btc has been stuck for 4 days. I used my blockchain wallet to send my Btc to my Coinbase wallet. It still says it is awaiting 2 confirmations. I put in low fees though.. Do I just need to wait the 14 days I am not sure if you are familiar with the blockchain wallet but if you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help and great video!
Check out this tutorial, mine was stuck for 2 months and this fixed it: czcams.com/video/Q62NoR2qhiw/video.html

My BTC has been pending and I can't cancel it simply because I can't see the nonce botten
Think you should be able to in sparrow / electrum
