- In this video, we show how to replace an EPS unit, on a 2012 Acura TSX SE ( special edition )
A regular cheap code scanner will not work, it needs to be a scanner that has SAS built in.
Part can be order for a hefty price of over $1k
Or go to a local junk yard and pull one out for under $30.

Calibration Procedure:
Steering wheel calibration is a must, and easy to do,
First jack the front up on jack stand evenly
Then turn the key to on position
Turn the steering wheel left and position it at 10 degree
Turn the steering wheel right and position it at 10 degree
Put steering wheel back in the center, straight
the wheel.
Turn key off
Start the car, and it should be done.

Hi Guys..! Just spent an hour or so stripping this apart to take my EPS module out. Had the dreaded EPS warning light and bing and no power steering.. ordered a replacement off ebay. Just keepin my fingers x'd it fixes my EPS problem. Thanks guys your how to video helped alot.. 😊

There appears to be a *silent* recall going on? I had all these symptoms and found out that there's a warranty extension for this unit and free replacement, for specific VINs.
Mine is one. Although my car was purchased from a dealer, neither Acura or the dealer notified me.
Hello bruvva I just repaired my EPS today thanks to this video. I cannot thank you enough for making this available to everyone. I have saved alot of money going to a mechanic who would have probs ripped me off.
My 2013 TSX EPS unit is being replaced under warranty. They extended the warranty on EPS units to 15 years, unlimited mileage on some cars/years. Check on line, or at the Acura Dealership. If you already did the repairs, you might can get your money back (I read that on line).

Cut the bottom glove box trim that's perforated and made to be cut. Pull blower box. Makes job twice as easy. Thanks for video though.

I installed the used module; got exact same code. It’s definitely the wiring but I don’t know where to look for connections Beyond inside directly connected to module and those all look fine. Where would the next connector Be located so I can check? My fault code is 33-1 low fet stuck on.
Sounds like a loose connection or a short in the wire.
DTC 33-01:
Lower FET Stuck ON (Initial Diagnosis)
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
Clear the DTC with the HDS.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
Start the engine.
Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times, and hold the steering wheel for 10 seconds or more.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 33-01 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 7 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.■
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
Disconnect the EPS control unit connector B (2P).
Check for continuity between body ground and EPS control unit connector B (2P) No. 1 terminal, and No. 2 terminal.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to Step 10 .
NO -
Check for loose terminal in the EPS control unit connectors, and repair if necessary. If no poor connections are found, replace the EPS control unit. ■
Disconnect the EPS motor 2P connector.
On the EPS motor side, check for continuity between body ground and EPS motor 2P connector No. 1 terminal, and No. 2 terminal.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Replace the EPS motor. ■
NO -
Repair short to body ground in the wire between the EPS control unit and EPS motor.■
Anyone know if TL model is similar install process to this one? Can’t find much info on it
As far as I know, it’s in the exact same location, on the passenger side under the glove compartment.
hey man, at 2:27 on top of the fuse box, there is slider type clip, I have 2.connectors on that blocking the screw. did you had those. If yes, how did you remove them

Do you know if this part can only go bad when it rains? I know that sounds funny, but I have a 2010 Acura TL, when it rains the power steering goes out, after it stops raining, everything is fine..Thoughts?
Since replacing it, it hasn’t gone bad yet, and it should work regardless of the weather conditions. Going out during rainy days is something new to me, probably just have to replicate that with a water hose while someone attempts to turn the wheel to see if it does it again or just have a tech look at it.

But, yes, while trying to replicate the EPS, see if you get any warnings lights on the dash board.
2012 TSX Wagon here - was having electrical problems when it rained. Diagnosed as parasitic draw on the battery from EPS control module. The unit would stay on when the car was off. Went through a couple batteries and did other things like disabled alarm system and replaced a door sensor before replacing steering module. There may be a drain tube that's close by - should check to ensure it's not clogged.
Did you do the toque sensor neutral position memorization after installing? The sensor needs to be calibrated now

Not my car, car was brought to me,and part was only $5 from junk yard, took less than 1hr to put on and calibrate.
Did the eps light go off after you installed the used one but before you calibrated it?

Still not fixed. I have been driving with no power steering. It sucks. Just haven’t had the time to take it in
