And because I could already read music and knew what the fingerings were, learning after that wasn’t nearly as hard as those first few months. Of course it’s still hard, but you get my point. This is just my story, so I would ask a few different people theirs, and figure out what you’d like to do.

I play bass clarinet, Bb clarinet, and tenor saxophone, I’d love to learn more instruments as well. This video was fairly good, I already knew most of it since there common instruments, except there’s no oboe or bassoon in any of the school bands in my area (Not the US). Though I already knew a little about double reed instruments because I love learning more about instruments and I’d love to get the opportunity to learn how to play dozens of more instruments. I love how as soon as the trombone player started taking about a powerful passage I thought ‘oh probably star wars’ then he said you’ll probably recognize it then I was like yep definitely star wars and it was. Then the tuba player said a recognizable song and I was thinking Mario and it was. Good demonstration of all the instruments and fabulous playing as well!

I’ve only just come across this video and found it quite entertaining and knowledgeable.
I’m from across the Pond and served 19yrs in the British Army as a musician/paramedic.
I started off on the flute/piccolo but as most military musicians moved onto learning other instruments like the piano/keyboards, percussion (yes that’s me on the big bass drum in my pic) plus all members of the saxophone family with the tenor sax being my favourite.
If people are thinking about joining a military band I would definitely recommend it as you’ll widen your knowledge of music, will get to travel to many interesting places and countries, play at some of the biggest public events and last of all you’ll get to also have a great social life, although you might not get many evenings or weekends free, you’ll definitely make up for it at other times.
I’ll be looking forward to watching more of the videos you guys have produced.

@@ItsMe-ic5oc it probably was gold and silver. Since she’s playing on such a professional level, she might play on a Muramatsu flute. Those flutes are very exclusive, and made in (for example) gold, silver and platinum. They’re known to be one of the best (and most expensive) flutes made by man.

@@pmbarth5037 I know, and muramatsu flutes are ultra - expensive😂, I tried to say that flutes are not traditionally made of brass, like saxes or, well, BRASS instruments.

Yeah, legends say that on a mountaintop in Himalayas there sits the guy who experienced such a day for real. He abandoned all wordly quests that very moment and spends the rest of his life levitating over a mountain. By the way, he is 158 years old and counting.

What a wonderful overview of many band instruments for future younger generation musicians who wish to learn an exiting field which will be fun and will improve your mind also.

This was fun and an important video for those just starting out. Back when I started playing in band, I had chosen the trumpet. If I had seen something like this, I would certainly have picked French horn. I’ve always regretted not choosing that instrument.
