As a Brissie boy following Ange I want to say a huge thanks for all the content over the last 2 years Hamish. Thanks to all your team, Asim, Stevie, John and all the regulars, Scotty McDonald especially! It's brought a lot of joy to watch you share our love for Ange and his work and given a great insight into the special club Celtic FC. I wish the club all the best and will be a lifelong supporter now even without Ange, Hail Hail!

Ange was/is a great manager because he was hard working, maticulous, had a clear vision, and didn’t let his heart rule his head, like not having favourite players, or getting too close to players so he couldn’t drop them or even sell them if it didn’t suit his plans. Why do we think someone this careful and calculated would t treat his own life and career any differently. Of course he had a plan to take the next step in achieving his goals and getting further in his job. He never stops. We should be grateful for what he did for us, and for leaving the club in a much better state than he found it.

I've genuinely been all over every Celtic type page begging for Knutsen. He is the best fit I don't see him as a risk, i see it is an opportunity for both us and him to benefit, he's the man to prepare us for Europe and he's proved he will stick to a project. I know Ajax are interested but that shouldn't stop us trying to bring him here.

Norwegian spurs fan here. Go for Knutsen. Best manager to ever manage in Scandinavia. Absolutely transformed Bodø/Glimt. It's a really small club even in a Norwegian setting. He took them from the second tier, to immediate success domestically and in Europe, with mostly rejects he got for free or super cheap from other clubs. Extremely good at development, and plays very attacking and attractive football.

I see a few on here mentioning Kevin Muscat from Yokahama as a possibility. In Australia, he is generally considered to be the Manager from our part of the world most likely to follow in the steps of Ange. He is highly rated and worth serious consideration even though, like Ange was two years ago, he is not that well known in the British Isles. He has been a title-winning Manager in Australia and Japan, and played at a variety of UK clubs during his playing career. The fact that he played one season at Rangers should not be held against him. It would have provided him with good insights into the Scottish Premier League and the Old Firm rivalry. His teams play a similar way to those of Ange.

Has Rayo Vallecano punching well above their weight. Barca haven't beat his side all season and both Madrid teams have struggled against him. We should surely be asking the question as he isn't renewing his contract with them?
Failing that then Knutsen who has done a great job there and as we witnessed, easily schooled us.

Ange is very very good manager, but not a great nor a legend, but for you to be thankful for him coming to Celtic is just wrong. Ange should be thankful for the Celtic board taking that leap of faith on appointing him and for us the fans giving him our full support and getting behind him. He and his family goes with my best wishes and I wish him all the success at Spurs, which won't be anywhere near the success he got at Celtic. I agree with most of what you say but you need to recognise that having been given the opportunity as you say by Celtic, Ange surpassed all expectation and united Celtic in a very special way and if he does manage to do the same at Spurs which as you say is much more difficult that actually will be a bigger deal with a bigger club than Celtic.

    • @stephenredmond2936
      @stephenredmond2936 Před 11 měsíci

@@georgecav I totally get your point, he did unite the whole club, in particular the fans, more than any other manager since O'Neil. We bought into Ange and his style, because he had a similar background to many Celtic fans backstory of immigration, although he admitted he was not a Celtic man. He bought into our club history and his style of football was a perfect marriage at the perfect time. But he was given full control of the club to do so by our board The SMSM perception of him and his abilities as a manager tried to pull him down in the same way they do us the fans and our club, and overcame that, he said himself we took him in from day one and that helped him. He recruited very well which helped and he turned it around quicker than most of us ever expected. He has left us with very special moments. But let's not compare our beautiful club, our history of success and our fan base to that of Tottenham's. Ange is ruthless as he is in his determined ability and the man would have deserves a chance with a financially big EPL club. But they don't have the same heritage as ours or fan base. I just believe he didn't get to finish which he and we as fans wanted with Celtic, and something he said he wanted which was to build our European reputation. Which is what I believe he and we may regret leaving earlier later is the, how far could he have taken Celtic When he's at Tottenham and afterwards. He leaves us in a better place than when he came in. Imho he left to early into that process of rebuilding us as a European force, again something Ange himself said about building season after season. So I expected him to stay for at least one or two more seasons. But we move on as a Club as we are like no other. Something Ange will realise as time goes on, but something we as fans knew and always known.

Hamish, have loved the Channel for the past 2 years. I am a Aussie Celtic fan loved that Ange became the Manager. If anything you would have learned form Ange is there is always a plan and this includes his exit. In the previous two moves Kevin Muscat has been his replacement (Melbourne Victory & now Yokahama). He was also one of Ange's boys at South Melbourne who went on to play in the Premier League with Wolves. Yes, I know he played for Rangers and that churns your stomach but he has never played against Celtic, so he has never officially become the scum. He play's Ange's style and has the experience of taking over the club infrastructure without any major changes.

It would be churlish to speak ill of Ange.. he's been great for us, obviously. We all felt that strong connection he had with the club and supporters but he proved he's no different from the rest.
Going forward I would view and use players and managers the way they do us. Couple of years service and move them on and replace. Ange employed that philosophy with players whilst being our manager.
We as supporters need to accept this while we play in this backwater. We're all fed up watching our good players & managers moving to smaller clubs in bigger leagues.
We are a very passionate and emotionally driven support and it is part of what makes us special but it doesn't do us any good.
Also, we have very good fan media but they need to stop interviewing our managers and players and blowing smoke of their arse ..they don't deserve it.
No more songs about them either..keep them for true Celtic Legends.
As for the new manager, out of the names being speculated on, probably Knutsen at Bodo Glimt would be my choice

Honestly I can see Celtic chopping & changing quite significant every couple seasons now using a similar model with players/managers till the youth academy is generating a steady stream of talent, most underused facility in the past 20 years losing a long list of talented young players along the way. Got to be a more forward thinking approach unless the SPFL gets a random billion dollar deal to broadcast not so great stadiums with Poundland var anytime soon
I feel bad for Tomoki Iwata & Sead Haksabanovic who are technically in football limbo now which must be a bit upsetting when about to go on holiday & take a break. Seems to me that dip in form a few weeks ago was Anges 1st major dressing room bust up, probably over current events. Around the time he stopped using the phrase - never stop
For what it’s worth anybody but Brendan. His time has been, there’s an element of fans who will never forgive him so I’m gonna say something wild - Celtic should check up on Andres Iniesta’s status if he has coaching ambitions. Kyogo gave him great credit recently for his own development & he’s a real headliner delving into new unknown territory that would be a real head turner on the football map
