Absolutely not. I had a lot to say and forgot to mention that but no way. I have actually fought with VMP about some things like the email stuff. I also got a lot of stuff from Discogs. I just really like them.

@@PiecesofVinyl thank goodness for discogs, i have not joined VMP but bought all lot with one time purchase just ordered the tammy wynette i was very tempted with the herbie handcock some good albums in the set and some i would not have picked for it. i liked your video and subbed. 👍 Michael 45 also thinks highly of VMP quality

Thorough walk through the service Rocco! I’ve been an in/out member for a long time. Biggest pet peeve is those mailers. If they would ever address that, it would be a game changer IMO
I only have issues with the mailers when there are more then 1 LP. They don’t seem to have a larger size until you go to three or more.
GREST overview of VMP membership, we'll done. I, like you, started in early 2022 and did the 3mo membership several times. Got in mostly for jazz genre and some classic rock titles. Just a few weeks ago, I canceled but WILL continue randomly. The QUALITY of LPs is also pretty solid. Good folks.
I signed up for VMP a fair few years ago, i copped a few limited pressings at the time that have shot up in value. All in all was a good service

Great overview!! Still debating the year subscription as the 8 add ons is pretty enticing! I have heard there are discount codes periodically but no luck yet finding a real one.
Not just shilling for this company - I would not recommend it if it wasn't totally worth it. It's an amazing deal for what they offer. Im totally addicted to their issues - Black Sabbath coming in January!
Jailbreak is awesome!!! I’ve never been a VMP subscriber but I pick up certain titles when I can and Jailbreak was one. I really want that Meters - Fire on the Bayou too.

Happy to have the Thin Lizzy VMP Jailbreak edition that is the only copy I have that has the book of the whole entite comic photo the U.K. version has the cutout with a bigger photo on the right side of the double gatefold that shows only three members on the monitor running no membership is needed I am happy with what I got great video .👍👍
VMP category selection and swaps. I recommend subscribing to another category rather than Essentials, the other categories tend to sellout / not be available for a swap, but the Essentials tend to always be available for swaps.
Great video! They should hire you! I mean that in the best way lol. Every time I watch one of your VMP videos I want to go buy something else from them. I loved your description on love hate but mostly love. VMP overall is a great service. Their selection, swaps, jackets+++, nutrition facts all pretty much great. The only issue I had is quality of the vinyl meaning warps. Yes their customer service is great. They sent me replacements when I asked and sent a video of the problem. For me it just becomes a bit of a hassle… and I kinda feel bad to go back and ask for a replacement. I guess I don’t want anyone to feel like I’m scamming them or that I'm too picky. Also I did get a warped record back as a replacement. Not as warped but still warped. I kept it cause again I felt bad about going back and asking for another replacement. Anyway I can’t wait till they get their plant up and running. I’m convinced they’ll have those issues handled. The classics track usually done at QRP have been great!
I have had the exact issue. I dont feel right asking for a third or fourth copy - I would if it was really expensive. I had to that for my Miles Davis UHQR from acousticsounds - 4 tries - kept getting a warped disc 2. But you are right - the hassle is not worth it sometimes.

I was considering this myself. I might have to get it on a future purchase.
Love what they release but the quality control leaves a lot to be desired. I 've had to have numerous albums replaced due to warps, scratches etc. Often the replacement record is as bad or worse than the defective one. I finally gave up trying to get a decent copy of the Lyle Lovett release. When they get it right, they get it right though so I continue to buy them.
I agree with this 100% as it has been my experience as well. Replacements are as bad or worse, and they refuse to refund your money. People need to know that.
I've only ordered one record from vmp. That was Jack Whites Entering Heaven Alive on the day it dropped. The Detroit Denim Ltd Ed. It looked and sounds great. So, I have been rolling the member thing in my head. A question..If I wanted to get, say Tom Waits Mule Variations, would you have to repress it and what mastering techniques do they use? I think they use different mastering sources but are starting to press their own. They pick what is issued so I don’t know where that list comes from. Thanks for watching!

Ýes, I got the Madman from Wal-Mart with the white splash different than the one you show and it sounded so lifeless I immediately returned it. I already had a pretty good copy, just wondering if vmp might be more dynamic..
I too got that Walmart. And another black vinyl and the black vinyl and the VMP were significantly Bette then the Walmart. Also the Walmart didn’t have the jacket!

I'm a little late to the video, but I was wondering. If you do not want the record from that month, you said you can pick from the swaps or exchange for store credit. Can you also pick from the archives or can you only buy those? Also, one more question. You may have gone over it in the video, but how do the bonus records from each subscription work?
Thanks for watching! They give a list of "swappable" records - usually some Exclusive and mostly all past ROTMs. Bonus records?? do you mean the add-ons? I am not sure about bonus records - but an add-on is basically a second subscription a slightly cheaper price. Hope that helps!
Great video! Just starting a 6 month membership in July. Do they ever make sold out titles available again? Would love Elton John “Madman” and Al Green “Call Me.”
They do…but it’s tricky. Sometimes they put them in swaps. That’s how I got Madman! And sometimes they have throwback Thursday emails that come out usually seasonally but you gotta be super fast. I have yet to get something on a TBT email list. Records of the month they usually keep print for a while but eventually they too go out. I have resorted to Discogs for things I really want. I especially like the older OBIs.

Roughly how much per record does the yearly subscription come out to?
About $35 per record. IMO it’s worth it. They are usually AAA cuts with extras like booklets and custom artwork. Plus exclusive colors too.

I'm freaking out I ordered a vinyl and then ordered the dolly parton one and put bundle.and that albumcomes out in July does that mean k won't get may to july
that might be the case - if the Dolly comes out in July and you bundled that with another title - they will ship together in July - you could go back and cancel the order and re order them separately but you will pay two shipping charges.
$36 a month and that’s the lowest it goes….way 2 high. I collect records (all sizes/types) and $36 is on the very high side. Example bought the new Dolly Parton best of on pink double vinyl for under $30 (double vinyl).
What TBT titles did you go for in your example? I got ‘+Justments and Everything is Everything. I was surprised to see both titles lasted several minutes before selling out.
I missed on Dorothy Ashby - The Rubiyat of Dorothy and this time around the Blue swirl of Hermanos Gutiérrez. Also - Tribe Called Quest, The Doors, and a couple more!

Which turntable are you using?
I have a fluance RT85 with an Ortofon 2m Bronze.
I pay no more than $30 per record when I buy and I like 180g vinyl. I reg buy for $23-25.
Yeah prices seem to be going up on everything everywhere.

That is a good question. I think they are international. There is another great CZcamsr 45rpm audiophile who is in Germany and he gets the service. So I think they do. I should have mentioned that. Gotta think more worldly sometimes in these videos! Thanks!
Great video, I've been wondering about VMP. Just wanna say I'm pretty sure obi strip is just pronounced like OB strip cause "obi" is a Japanese word, it doesn't stand for anything.
I think you are correct about that. I hear some other folks say OB strip and O B I - all I know is they make me want to buy vinyl!
Is there an option to exclude a genre? I'm not a fan of hip hop or R&B.
If you go with essentials or classics they usually don’t have hip hop in there unless it’s like the beastie boys. But you can also swap. Thanks for watching!
I’m so frustrated with them they charged me twice for my subscription and waiting for a response do they give refunds I’d something is there fault
I know their customer service is behind right now - it takes a few days for me to hear from them - but - they are usually very good about stuff - and if you were charged twice Im sure they will get you straight. good luck!
Just a heads up, with the yearly membership, AFAIK you can NOT skip a month.
You have to either swap for that month’s record, or you are stuck with choosing one of the tracks.
This was not appealing to me, as I was stuck paying $30+ for a ROTM I didn’t want, and they do NOT take back a record to exchange for another one, even if you do not open it.
I feel that is rediculous, as I have never delt with a record store, or label that would not accept an album I have returned as long as I did not use it, so they could resell it.
Just left a bad taste in my mouth along with all the crackly Mars Volta records.

Yes I should have clarified the yearly lock in if you pay yearly. If you pay monthly you can cancel and come back. If you pay yearly you can swap and even swap for credit. They usually have at least one record out there I want so it’s worked for me. Thanks for the comment!
I don’t like the idea of someone choosing records for me… there are some good ones but I have originals of many, like The Meters and Ornette Coleman… but the Jazz Dispensary collab was awesome I picked all those up through a trade
The Jazz dispensary were fantastic. I have all but one from both batches. Some of my favorite drummers in there. I wasn't crazy about the idea of people picking for me either - I think in my early collecting since I had such a specific want all the time I wouldn't do it - but now its pretty cool to get some other perspectives. What if you only like specific types of hip hop…not a fan at all of todays mainstream hip hop
You can always swap. However most of the stuff I have gotten is older hip hop. Like public enemy and run dmc.
Listening to someone repeatedly use the phrase "pieces of vinyl" weirdly makes me yearn to hear the word "vinyls".
My only question is...
What if your only into ROCK or METAL? Does this service provide those? Other than "Thin Lizzy" I didn't see you show ANYTHING else even close to hard rock. You know, like AC/DC or ZEPPELIN or Metallica?? Just wondering before I spend money on records I KNOW I wouldn't like.
You can check out the site and see what they offer before you sign - or - don't sign up at all you can just buy stuff from them like any other record site. They did have a really cool Story of Metal Blade Records Box Set they released (back in 2021 I think)....thats pretty hardcore metal.
No specific rock/metal/punk, etc category. Been a member on/off since 2017. Best category to get some rock items is Essentials. Some I've received that might fit the bill. Weezer, Sabbath, Stevie Nicks, Queens of the Stone Age, Stooges, Tenacious D, Doors, Dead Boys, Joplin, Queen, and a few others. If you also like another category, I recommend subscribing to another category rather than Essentials, the other categories tend to sellout / not be available for a swap, but the Essentials tend to always be available for swaps.

Definitely not getting paid (other then YT monetization). VMP probably hasn’t even seen this video. And I have been trying to get them to see it! I should have stated up front I wasn’t paid to make this. I usually do. Now…if they want to send me free stuff …OK! I would be sure to mention that if they did!
Lots of music from past - no more! Not all modern artists have their vinyl records - and modern discs are too expensive.
